I'm unsure if this is a problem or not. How do I manually select the pattern I want furniture recolored as? The only option I seem to have available is the random "dice" option, and sitting there cycling through all possible patterns is tiresome. Other people seem to be able to go right to what they want--can they? If so, how? If not, how do they manage to seem like it? I want to do my gambler's room in the new suites pattern but unlike him, I'm unwilling to leave it up to chance.

If you already have the pattern on your lot, you can apply it to the other object (you may want to look up some CAST tutorial on youtube), otherwise you just need to scroll through them like everyone else. Or if you don't want to scroll, just use the first options visible.

I don't know if I understand correctly... you recolor your furniture only through the "dice" option?
By "cycling through all possible patterns" you mean you click on the randomize option endlessly?

You need to use the CASt tool (Create-a-style).

Place an object, then click the CASt tool.

Click on the object and the CASt interface will open.

There you will see that you can choose a preset on the top left, or choose a material and pattern on the right.

You can recolour any material using this, either by hex number, colour wheel or colour palette.

Is it even possible to open the window with the preset options without opening CAST? Frankly my mind's a little blown that it's possible to not realize CAST exists! There are tutorials and everything right there in the game...

Yeah, that's why I wanted to make sure if I understood the question correctly, kinda hard to believe.

In the calatogue below the description of the object there are presets you can choose without going into CAST and there is the randomize option (the dice) that allows you to endlessly change objects appearance with random patterns also without going into CAST.

Yes, you get the randomize dice and the presets when you click on the item:

Not many people realise you can drag colours, patterns, presets, colour palettes etc., either, or tricks like dragging the interface bars to make them longer or dragging actions to change the duration.

It is also possible to 'drag' a color from cast onto another object, if you want to do that. I have done that multiple times when accessorizing rooms and outfits.

To do this, you must be in cast on the object you want to drag the color *from*. Then click it, and drag it on to the item to which you want it applied.

Another cast window will open up and you can move it appropriately.

I don't understand this part. Which interface bars do you mean?

I mean for example the relationships window, or the inventory window. Or, dragging on the action when your sim sleeps to make him sleep until rested instead of sleep until a specified time.

Oh, okay. I thought you meant dragging them longer while in CASt.

Haha wow! It was right in front of me the whole time and I never noticed it! I guess I didn't know what it meant by "style".
