I have a working washing machine, but now there are piles of clothes around my house because nothing can come out of there! I need a dryer that works and isn't just decoration! Base game only.

Do you only HAVE the base game? Cuz if you have AMB, you'd get a clothes line that dries clothes (I think) AND a dryer that I ASSUME is functional--I never bothered with actual laundry, as I installed the mod here http://www.modthesims.info/d/460101 that eliminates that annoying clothes pile spawning.

If you do have just the base game, then did you get your washing machine from the EA Store? There are dryers available to go with all the washing machines there, that are base game compatible. Try and see if you can get Gifted it if you don't have any simpoints--I got Gifted Bayside Laundry just the other day.

Of course, the smart shopper could just as easily...er...you know...

Have you tried these at ATS3? http://www.aroundthesims3.com/objec..._other_03.shtml The ones with the "Ambitions" labels at the bottom should work in theory. But I've never tried.

You'd actually NEED AMB for those to work, though. The Store ones don't need any EPs

It may still work, for the same reason that custom spiral staircases work for people without generations as do bunkbeds.

As long as you're patched up, it's worth a try.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it.

Yeah, I only have base game. I was surprised that washing machines were introduced with Ambitions, because I don't have that one at all. Which means mine probably shouldn't work, but it does. I can't remember where I got it from though. I think it was on here!

You don't need Ambitions to use a Washing Machine/Dryer in the Sims 3. You can get those items in the Sims 3 Store. That's why it's not weird that your Washing Machine works. Similarly, you don't need Generations to use a Spiral Staircase. There are no Spiral Staircases in the store (yet) but people without Generations can use CC Spiral Staircases. That's why I think you should try out that dryer at ATS3.

Thanks for posting this Birdflight. I was really itching to know, but I have Ambitions and didn't really want to re-install just to test if I could use ATS3 laundry stuff with the base game.

Yup, I know that's why you mentioned it, nonamena. My response was more to the OP and murfee.
I think a lot of players still don't realize that a bulk of the features that come with expansion packs
actually come with the updates/patches it's just the objects that come with the expansions and stuff packs.

Oh huh. I thought it meant that you needed the actual expansion.

Still odd that there's hardly any CC dryers though.

I KNOW that you can use washing machines without AMB--I didn't have any EPs myself until this past November; I've been a base game only player for almost 3 years.

Usually, when Interactive CC is posted with a certain EP's label on it, that means it's not gonna work without the EP--like LN musical instruments, which do not work without the EP. Hopscotch from GEN doesn't work. There's a ton of Accessories people clone from WA that never appear in CAS without the EP. I NEVER said you can't use ANY EP related stuff in the base game like spiral stairs--I don't have GEN, and I've got a ton! Spiral Stairs work because the GEN patch from EA deliberately included Spiral Stair mechanics into the base game, so that's why people could clone Gen spiral stairs and have them work for everybody as long as they got the Cutout Tiles right at the top, otherwise they would crash the game. LN elevator mechanics were included in the LN, patch, but were later removed, so now no one without LN can use CC elevators from the exchange and such. If EA had removed the spiral stairs mechanic from the patch like they removed the elevators, we wouldn't be able to use those, either. Premium Content is designed to install the mechanic into the base game independent of the AMB EP, just like the GEN child horsey swings and the sandbox sold at the Store that still work in the base game, and all the other PC stuff that was EP related. (The Pets stuff is available to base game users, too, however those are only decor; the interactions are left out if you don't have the EP--it becomes just another item on your lot.)

Paintings and furniture usually work even if they are cloned from EPs, though.
Most clothes, accessories and hairs I have tried installing, however, don't--darn.

So it all depends. It has been my experience at ATS3 AND Vita Sims that if the label is on the CC, and you don't have the EP, the item is not gonna work. I never tried the Dryers, but I've tried other CC from both sites, and you actually needed the EP, just like the label said. The Launcher would say it installed the object, but it wouldn't show up in-game at all. Or it would install, but only be decor, with no interactions. That's what happened on my end--but as I said--I didn't bother with the Laundry stuff--I got my Laundry CC from the Store and they work--that's all I was saying--I didn't bring up other Interactive CC at all cuz I know they work. >_<

Thanks, Birdflight, for testing the ATS3 ones!
