I've been playing TS2 up to Pets on Tiger for years. Now I've got a new Mini running OSX 10.7 and all my Sims 2 disks are obviously useless... or are they? I was directed to another thread on the subject and found this post from dragonfly3007: Quote:
The install instructions in the link provided seem a bit odd to my way of thinking, as though they were originally written with a Windows OS in mind. Even so, I managed to install TS2 and expansions 1-4 in this way: 1. My original TS2 disk has no installer, just a 'drag to Applications' folder. That done, I patched the TS2 app. with the combo patch. 2. Then I installed each expansion, one-by-one, patching each time with the combo patch. To get the expansion installers to work, do this: a. Open the install CD and ctr+click on the installer icon. b. Select 'Show Package Contents' - open the 'Resources' folder (IGNORE the 'Pets Installer' file in the 'Mac OS' folder) c. In the 'Resources folder', there will be a .pkg file for the installation (eg. Pets.pkg) - double click this and install as normal. d. Don't forget to patch each installation with the combo patch. However, when I start the game and it asks for the Pets CD to be inserted, I find that the disk is not recognised by the system. I tried making a disk image from the install disk and mounting it on the desktop, but this didn't work either. Total bummer! Now it may be that some people will have more success with this than I have so far - I'd be really pleased to know how to get Lion to recognise my Pets disk so I can actually play the game again. Until then, I will keep trying to find a way to run the game and report my success or otherwise here. |

I'm gonna move this thread over to TS2 Mac support, since there are many more Mac people over there than here. |

Take a look at the last post in this thread. It looks like there's some instructions on installing it on lion. |
