Okay, here we go.

My computer:
MacBook Pro, 13-inch, early 2011
Running OS Lion 1.7.3

TS3 / World Adventures / Ambitions / Late Night / Generations
Game version: 8.0.152.015001

---

I opened my launcher today and started my game and noticed that it looked as if my entire profile had been wiped. None of my saves/downloads/mods appeared in game. But when I checked my Electronic Arts folder, all of my files were still there and everything was the same.

I then renamed my TS3 folder and allowed the game to rewrite the game files, and I then created a new save file. After that I quit the game and checked my Electronic Arts folder where I expected the new TS3 folder to be. However, it wasn't there.

So then I opened Finder and searched for "The Sims 3" and "Bridgeport" (the name of my save), hoping to find where the game was putting all my new files. Finder showed no results for either of my searches, and now I'm at a loss as to what to do.

The game still runs fine, but it's sending my files to a location I cannot find on my Mac. I'm thinking I accidentally deleted a file or pressed a button that I don't understand. The only thing I remember changing is adding two new packages into my Mods folder, but I don't really think that's the problem.

Any ideas?

  • Sims 3 - Installing / Patching / Uninstalling
    1. Whether you are Installing for the first time or Reinstalling, be sure to read the Game Help:Installwiki FAQ.
      -
    2. This Game_Help:TS3_Uninstallwiki link has the step-by-step instructions to guide you through uninstalling The Sims 3,
and its (EP/SP) packs. As well as removing any leftovers after uninstalling.
      -
    3. The Game_Help:TS3_Patchingwiki Guide provides information on:
      • Tips Before You Begin
      • Patching Common Errors
      • Manual patch Downloads
      • Invalid File Errors and more

All the cases where we came across this can only be solved by an uninstall, see threads linked below. I suspect, at some point the patch took a wrong turn and copy the wrong things to the wrong places.
I would strongly advice to not use Launcher to update, and do it manually, instead.
