I'm hoping you fine folks can give me a solution *other* then culling installed worlds. I have multiple installed worlds and love trying out new ones. The problem is the screen is not displaying all the worlds I have installed, It seems to have reached a display limit so that I can no longer see any world with a name later in the alphabet then "S". If I install a new world I lose one, if I remove a world I get one back. It took me awhile to be sure of this, but I installed hidden springs recently and lost another world alphabetically. I've started culling worlds <sniffle> and confirmed this seems to be display related, every world shows up as installed in the launcher just not when you go to create a new game. My educated guess is this might be fixed with a scroll bar?

Please tell me there either already is a solution for this or someone will be kind enough to create one for me and any other sad world collectors <pleading puppy dog eyes>.

So far my CC use is confined to CAS and buy mode items, worlds, and two minor scripting mods, I have all major expansion packs and some of the stuff packs, and should be fully patched unless one just came out that I haven't seen. I haven't wanted to use any core mods as of this time (my play time is limited enough that reinstalling software for every patch hasn't been worth it) but will consider one to solve this problem if needed

Thank you very much for your time,

Vampiremouse

Is anyone planning to reply cause um its been several days.

I can see a total of 26 worlds when creating a new game. Each expansion comes with one new world whether you want it or not. Then there is Riverview, Lunar Lakes, Hidden Springs, & the pirate one (blanking as to the name). Unless this problem is somehow unique to my computer (and if so what on earth is causing it/how do I fix it)...um it doesn't take that many user created worlds in your list to go over this limit. Heck EA could place us over this limit fairly soon, talking about a dis-incentive for purchasing worlds or even expansions. Am I really the only person who sees this as a concern?

I hate to bump my own thread but I'm really looking for an answer. The only suggestion the official forum folks had was change my display resolution, it didn't work. So I'm here highlighting a legitimate concern that needs to be solved by EA and/or the modding community...and I don't have anywhere near the knowledge of this game's coding or time to fix this myself.

Can people at least please respond?

Thank you

This is a known restriction, most people get around it by having several versions of the Documents/ Electronic Arts/ The Sims 3 folder, and installing different worlds to different folders. This has the added benefit of allowing you to restrict your CC to only that used in particular worlds; for example I have a folder without CC for testing worlds, a folder with lots of CC for playing worlds, a folder with a small amount of CC for a legacy.

I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose free will

It's a real pain, for sure. At one time, that list did scroll, I believe. I think it was somewhere around Late Night that it began to not have the scrollbar available! It would be really, really nice if a modder here at MTS would come up with a solution, since EA doesn't seem to be doing so!

I've just been experimenting with this method, and it works.

Go to your Installed Worlds folder, and select the worlds that you hardly ever play, even if they have saves that you have played. Cut those worlds (don't delete, just cut them, for pasting), and paste them into a HOLDING folder in a safe place. My safe place is inside the Electronic Arts folder in My Documents. I named my folder "~Installed Worlds--HOLDING" which places that folder at the top of my list. Then I pasted in the worlds that I might want to use at a later date, that I don't want to uninstall, for that reason.

In my experiment, I took out one world that had a nominal save (it wouldn't matter to me if I lost it). Then I started up the game and went in and found that saved greyed out, so that it couldn't be used, but it was still there, and it couldn't be messed with. So I then copied and pasted that world from my holding folder back into my Installed Worlds folder. The greyed out save didn't show up as playable right away, but I went into a different world, then went back out to the main menu, and lo and behold, the game had, by then, read the Installed World once again, and I could play the save that had been greyed out. Voila!

So I think that what I'm going to do from now on, is keep only my few worlds in place that I play the most often, and then just follow this practice to put in worlds on the fly that I want to play again.

If it bothers you that those greyed out world saves might get corupted, just set those saves into the holding folder, as well, until you put their world back into place.

NOTE: This means that you do NOT have to uninstall all your Installed Worlds. Just temporarily move them. When you move them back, they, and all their attached attributes will again be playable. For instance, Riverview, with all it's attached CC makes all that CC available once again, as does Hidden Springs. Most worlds don't HAVE any CC attached, so that's not a problem in the first place. Once they are installed, that file is completely movable, as long as you move it (or a copy of it, which I choose) back before you want to play that world.
