New to the forum here because I usually just search if I have a problem and find the answer somewhere where someone previous has asked it.

I have Sims 2 and no extension packs at all (and I have not ever used any custom/modified content), and my when the wife in my family was about to give birth I saved the lot because I like to do that in case the baby isn't the desired gender. Then I unpaused the game and it told me my family were expecting two babies.... Plenty of my other sims have had twins before so that's fine. However, the first baby arrived and was just kind of stuck to the mother who wandered around with it not knowing what to do.

Anyway with freewill on and off (I have restarted the game several times to fix this problem) there is no way I can get the lady to have the second baby arrive. The game play remains unsaveable, you can't build or buy anything (those options are greyed out) and I am not even asked to name the first baby! Weirdly BOTH babies appear as family members at the side, but are named "Baby Girl" or "Baby Boy" yet only one has appeared in the household and if the parents put it down on the floor they then can't do a thing with it!

I wouldn't like to lose this nice family that I have worked on for a while, so are there any suggestions about how to fix this problem and get on with the life of the family and not be in limbo?

Quit without saving and try again?

Yeah I did, again and again and again. I have to quit via Task Manager on my laptop as the options to save or quit, buy, build etc are all greyed out because the 2nd twin is never born. I quit, then try again but because I initially saved right before the birth, I cannot start again any further back than that.

Well I haven't tried that but as I don't have any custom content or expansion packs I didn't think that was the problem?? Anyone able to explain it to me?

That FAQ is a procedure to follow to help find out where the problem is. If you don't have any CC at all, then you have already done the step involving removing CC. There are other steps that you can follow to figure out what might be causing the problem. Skip the step about removing the CC you don't have, and go on to the next one. (Be sure to make the backup, though. Backups are always nice to have.)
