Can anyone who has bought the new Gothic set (the one with the tablet) answer a question for me. Are the rugs CASTable? I know most things usually are, but. well....EA.

Also, is the tablet as cool as is seems?

lol, they totally stole Buzzler's Scribbling Pad with that tablet, they're basically the same thing

No wait...Buzzler's Scribbling Pad is way cooler and awesome

No and yes. No, it is not the same thing... You cannot write anything on the tablet, only listen to "podcast" to learn and read books, and purchase.

Yes, Buzzler's pad is cooler

EDIT: from what I read over simsvip, teens and children can "write" in tablet, they can make their HW there. (have not tried this though, I don't have children living in my household, I sent them to boarding school.)

Can you download skill books? That would be awesome if you could use it instead of looking around for all the different skillbooks. I don't mind paying for them, but looking for them wherever the sim dropped them and in whatever random bookshelf the maid put them in...

In fact I didn't say it's the same thing, I added "basically", I meant the concept behind it, especially the "no more technofobe" one.

That tablet doesn't satisfy me anyway, it should have had PC features, with a tablet you can chat, write, play games, etc... not just play social, listen to podcast and purchase books, what kind of tablet is that?

On a side note I love the set so it was worth it

The kind of tablet EA wants you to use!! According to their new business plan, a pad where you can only mess with social features is perfect for them.

I think you can, Have not purchased skill books yet, only fishing and cook books at the moment I tried purchasing, and the option is like when you are visiting the bookstore, so I guess, you can purchase skill books with it. From what I read at simsvip, you can read books on the tablet that are purchased and on your household, w/c means you can read the book w/o the hassle to find it in your several bookshelves

EDIT: and it is not downloading to their tablet, your sim will have the tangible book. it is like ordering online and *poof* your ordered book instantly delivered to your sim's inventory

I want the tablet but not the whole set. I guess I'm waiting until they break it out just like the deep fryer and ice cream machine from the Fiesta set.

The best selling book would probably be Raymundo.

My tablet's glitched. The only thing my sim can do is shop/read books on it, but if I say to listen to Tabcast or Play Online Social Games, she'll take it out of her inventory, put her finger on the screen, then it'll disappear and her fun bar will go up all the way.

Yep, it's basically the bookstore without having to send your sim out of the house. I think they get a physical copy in their inventory too, I bought some books and they showed up in my sim's inventory but I didn't try checking to see if they could be dragged into the bookcase

Do the cookbooks still disappear after one person reads them?

Once I caught sight of this thread, I scurried on over to YouTube. Someone always posts a video on premium stuff. She shows how the tablet works at the end:

I'm having the same issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the set. NO go. All the other functions appear to work, but the Tabcast function results in full fun bar with no skills. My sims can play onlne social games with it though. It's only the Tabcast function that doesn't appear to work for me.

If anyone knows a cause/solution it would be much appreciated.

It's really cool! No issues here (I only have portraitpanel and mastercontroller with all ep's and sp's installed) and I adore it - esp for machinima purposes! :D

My sim, too, can shop books, read books and play online games but she cannot listen to tabcast. Everytime the action gets cancelled and she puts the tablet back into her inventory.

So the books are not ebooks? That seems odd!

I just broke down and bought this last night and it is awesome. I would not mind paying for premium content if it was all like this.

It's not broken, that's just the way it functions. If you look closely, you will see that they have a bluetooth on their ear and they will have a moodlet showing that they are listening to a tabcast and how much longer it will last.

Last night I had all my Sims start a tabcast (similar to reading a skill book) and then sent them to the park. They cooked, played instruments, worked on their golf-swing and went rock-climbing, all while they were skilling logic and handiness etc. I think this is my favourite item since the juicer from Seasons.

Yes, I'm having that same issue. I checked out The Quxxn's gothic set video and I saw that while the sim is listening to a tabcast there is a moodlet, but I don't get that moodlet.

That sucks

It must be conflicting with something that a lot of people have in their games. Either that, or I just got really lucky. Have you tried this fix?

Edited to Add: I've done a bit of digging and discovered that the spellbook and the tablet conflict with each other (gotta love EA). I was already using a fix for the spellbook that I had completely forgotten about. I'm using the file Joey_StoreCC_Fix_V10_SpellbookFix.package

Apparently the mod has been updated to include the fryer and ice-cream maker, but some people report it breaking the tablet again. If you want to try the older version that is working for me, it can be found in this post, by Painkiller.

If anyone else is having trouble with the tabcasts, you might want to give it a try.
