Hi donna6511. We have many good tutorials for installing Sims 3 custom content into your game. In the (helpfully named) Help menu at the top, just mouseover the Sims 3 option, and select "Main page". From that page you can find links to tutorials on installing all types of Sims 3 custom content.

well it says that i need to download the sims and then i need to extract them ... i tired it with the zip-7 and its still not working

For the sake of summarizing:
  • If you're installing a sims3pack, you can double-click it to open it with the Sims 3 launcher. The launcher will install it from there. If it's simply extracted to The Sims 3\Downloads, it's not automatically installed. You can check if it's installed or not via the Downloads tab of the Launcher.
  • If they're .sim files, extract them to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims. They will be in your sim bin the next time you load your game. Make sure you have any custom content the uploader stated is required/recommended for aesthetic purposes.
  • .package files will go in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages. You need to have followed the instructions here for them to work properly, however.

Tiny tip: If you're going to install multiple sims3packs at once, extract them to a temporary folder on the desktop or other easy to access area. You can select up to fifteen at a time (Well, that seems to be my computer's limit for opening files simultaneously in one program.) from there and install them all at once. It's a lot faster. Afterwards, you can just delete that folder.
