It loads fine without any custom content but the minute I put even a single piece of custom content the game will become unresponsive at the loading page. I haven't played for a while as I've been away at school and the problem started before then but I can't figure out why.

I have Nightlife and Open for business installed and the computer it is installed on runs windows vista.

    • Please post a Quick summary of your System Specs

When you say "unresponsive", do you mean that the game does not load at all or just takes a very long time at the loading screen? Have you opened up the Task Manager to monitor the Sims(ep#).exe process to see if the memory usage is changing at all? You'll have to run the game in windowed mode to do this easily.

Yes, I check it in task manager and it says the game is unresponsive and at that point I have to restart my computer. I don't know exactly what you mean by the memory usage changing.

The specs:

System Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz, 2000, Mh, 2Core(s)..
Installed Physical Memory (Ram): 3.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 2.99 GB
Available Physical Memory: 1.83 GB
Total Virtual Memory 6.17 GB
Available Virtual Memory 5.09 GB

Are those the specs you were looking for??

That's not quite enough info for the specs. Check out the link julianarosalia gave you for instructions on how to find your specs.

Ok, what I meant by the memory usage is if you look at the Processes tab in Task Manager, next to the Image name of Sims(ep#).exe (where ep# is the number of whatever is the most recent EP/SP that you have installed) there is a column named Memory. Is the number there changing, i.e. going from 168,376 to 170,024? When the number is changing (going up or down), it means that the process is working (just slowly) even if on the Applications tab the task for the game says Unresponsive instead of Running. Basically, while the game is loading into the computers memory but you're not actually able to play it yet Windows doesn't have a Task status that says "Hold on, I'm still loading your game you can't play yet but really I'm working on it". Because you're playing the game on a laptop, without a lot of memory (not sure what you're video card is since you need to post more information about your computers specifications) that can take longer than on a desktop because the computer has to work harder. I hope that makes more sense.

Please do not PM me with Game or Site Help questions. Post them in the appropriate section after going through the FAQs.
