Question about Pets and Showtime #1 |
| cevanna |
Right, I know these might be a stupid questions but I figured it's better if I asked rather than continue wondering. Pets question: Do animals spawn in every neighbourhood and can you control what animals show up? For example if I'm playing in Bridgeport (a city) will horses be roaming around all over the place? Honestly that you really annoy me and strange as it might sound is putting me off buying Pets. Showtime question: Do I have to have Pets for Showtime to work properly? I've just got the latest patch and my game is version 1.33 now. I know you could buy Sims 2 EP out of order but EA are so mental I wouldn't put it past them to screw with things. |

Pets answer: Yes they show up in every neighbourhood but Twallens register mod allows you to change that or decide how many of each thing you want for each town. Showtime answer: You shouldn't need pets for it to work, i don't have it but since EA fails to actually make each ep work with the previous ones it should be perfectly fine without pets. |

![]() Thank you and thank goodness for twallan. I have register so I'll be able to turn off horses etc. Lol, I know it sounds really OCD but that was really bugging me. Cool, I shall go and see if I can afford said EPs now. Thanks again. :D |

If I'm not mistaken, the random animal spawnings have different settings when playing in an urban world (e.g. Bridgeport), and wild horses and deer wont spawn, only stray cats and dogs and small animals if you have the spawners. And as for your second question, no, you shouldn't need Pets to be able to play Showtime. All the big (non-animal specific) changes that the EP made to the engine were included in the base game patch that was released wen Pets was released. |

Wild animals do not spawn in Bridgeport since EA actually thought about the fact that they would not normally be seen in a large city scenario. |

Holy crap. EA actually thought about that. I asked because I honestly didn't think they would. |

Shhh, EA's thoughts are make believe, just like elves and gremlins and eskimos. |

Been looking at the Showtime threads and it seems more like a Stuff Pack than a proper EP. I'm leaning more towards buying ST rather than Pets. :/ |

They didn't think too hard, though, because if you do have horses in the game (owned, not wild) they will try to take the subway to get around town. Then, big surprise, they get stuck in the turnstile (or somewhere in the subway station) and mess up all the routing.

I'm really not into horses so if I were to ever play a sim who has one it would be a in rural environment. I know that's not the point. The point is EA fail super hard. But it is a fail I could live with... if I bought the EP. |

Well, nobody said they thought "hard" about it...just that they gave it some thought | |

However, I believe unicorns will still spawn in Bridgeport. |

More into sim families and... pets => Pets obviously More into odd objects => Showtime (Pets have some nice furniture but Showtime has furniture and a lot of usable stuff like the electro sphere machine, push-up bar, a seated video game, karaoke machine, etc) More into AMB's active careers => again, Showtime Pets however have a nicer hood than Showtime's one (which is a bit bland) but you do quickly get tired of all these small pets spawns everywhere - non-moddable: you have to remove the seed spawners yourself to get rid of them; but then you won't have seeds anymore lol. IMO I prefer Showtime, more stuff to do in it. |

Showtime careers are less stable and more glitchy than the Pets content, though. And Starlight Shores is borderline unusable without serious rebuilding to prevent lag and add important lots. Seriously, how does a town based on LA and Hollywood not have a film studio? |

i found to attract wild horses and unicorns to parks with fishing spots place a hitching post and a salt block on those lots. i did this in starlight shores after DAYS (human days mind you not sims days lol) of looking for a unicorn to spawn, sure enough soon as i placed those items there one popped up. |

I have regularly had unicorns take five ingame weeks to first spawn. That's just how they are. The hitching post should work well with wild horses, though, because they'll be attracted to that lot to eat. |
