Alright...
I started a new world, and am getting ready to map out all of the lots in the town.
Before I start doing this, I'd like to have a list of different community lots, to help me plan placement of everything.

Any ideas you have for community lots would be very helpful!

So far I've got:

History Museum
Sports Bar
Recording Studio
Cathedral
Used Car Lot
Gas Station
Bank

Lets keep this list goin!

I love the idea of an arcade!!!

It would be cool to do an internet gaming cafe also.
In a highrise - I think that would be epic.

It would be really cool to find a way to do a laser tag arena, or mini golf.
Has anyone seen CC for stuff like this?

Really don't need CC for arcades now, if you have all the expansion packs. The game comes with a crap load of arcade games, pool table, skee ball, and golf. You can make a pretty cool arcade venue with what's provided now.

I made a old styled double building with a bookstore and internet on one side using the WA books register and a cafe on the other side using the WA food register.

Yep, got an arcade and outdoor mini golf area.

If you have the rock wall premium item from the Sims 3 store, you can make another small gym with the rock wall outdoors, small LN bar for eating and in the basement a full co-ed bath with showers. Also furnished with the Sleep Pods so the sims can replenish their motives quickly. :D

Still thinking...

I like lewisb40's gym idea a lot. I have the rock wall but I don't have anywhere to put it cause I'm horrible at building, and it'd look odd in Sunset Valley's gym :s
I wish there were more gym items and a sauna/massage table like there was in BV so I could attempt to build a sim version of Lifetime Fitness.

On my to-do list:
plant nursery / greenhouse
shopping mall
music store
martial arts / dance studio
homeless shelter
doctor's office / health care center
pet cemetery

Obviously some of them you have to cheat and/or pretend a bit.

waiter, there's a conundrum in my soup

A mall, with a combination of "stores" and the movie theater and gym and all that. It'll free up my town so that I can place more Sims there.
Teen hangout location/club
Skyrim-styled dungeon
Bank (I have the global banking mod, so this could work well)
Wedding Chapel/Church
Strip Club (For the naughty rich Sims who just has too much to spend ;D )

I'd like a nice Academy lot for Sunset Valley and Riverview. Please share if you build one.

Why bring back a thread from the dead?!
Ha, that rhymed.

So, I love the idea of a mall or shopping center!

Could you make this actually work - where your sims could shop at various places?
Maybe putting multiple cash registers on one lot?
Would love to experiment with this.

I've toyed around with a few gym ideas myself.
Working on a 2 story high-rise gym/spa right now.

I dont have the Rock Wall yet.
Is it as cool as it looks?! :D
Can they be place indoors?
Say, could I add it to the interior of the gym mentioned above?

The rock wall's one of my favourite objects so far, and I'm pretty sure it can be placed indoors. Can't wait to see your gym/spa

It can be placed indoors, it's two stories though.
