It's a pain really. My sim's job is a waitress at the diner near her home, because she works there I can go with her to work. Say, on a Monday about an hour before she is supposed to start working I have her walk to the diner. At 9 am (works from 9 to 5) she starts working with the other employees. She works her hours, then when she returns to her home lot, at say 6 pm, time has reverted back to Monday 8 a.m. so it's like she never worked that day at all.
Is there any way I can fix this?

(Also, at her work, my servers aren't serving! The tables for the customers are completely empty, but when my sim and other servers go to serve they just stand there or go do something else. Then most of the time the customer sits there forever drinking water, then just leaving. Any ideas what to do?)

The Community Time Project mod takes care of the time difference, so that your sims won't come back home at the same time they left. The link says it's only updated through FreeTime, but I've been using it with Apartment Life with no problems.

However, that extra time is an important feature, allowing you to get several days worth of play into a single sim day. This is a lifesaver with large families and should not be gotten rid of lightly. If you do decide to go for it - and many people are bugged by the way sim time runs - you may want to extend your lifespans, too.

On the restaurant server question, there's several threads in the main forum discussing ways to run a business, including at least one specifically on how to run a restaurant. Do a search over there, or post for OFB advice, and people who never come over here will pile on with the advice and personal reminiscences.

All you can do is the best you can do.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I do not have FT or AL.

Thank you for the warning. I usually play sims with the "agingoff" cheat anyways until I'm tired of them being that age, then I use the birthday cheat to make their birthday the next day.

Thank you both of you

Bear in mind that you will probably have to root out a hack conflict in order to use the community time project, since you already have something changing the way time behaves when you go to a community lot (by default, it should be two hours later on the home lot when you get back, not the exact same time).

Your profile says you have both Pets and Seasons, and the mod page says it's for Pets and Seasons, so I don't see why you can't use it.

Oh by margonaute's comment I just automatically assumed that I needed FT or AL. I didn't even bother to look at it. If I don't need FT or AL I will go look now.

Not necessarily, Whiterider. I haven't paid close enough attention to which happens when, but sometimes two hours pass and sometimes no time at all does. I think it's a function of how much time you spend on the community lot. For instance, a grocery run takes no time at all. However, I also sent a teen on a date at 2:30 today, which lasted long enough for some preliminary talking and playing, lunch, and a little canoodling - maybe three hours. And he got home about the same time his kid sister did.

All you can do is the best you can do.
