I just got back into playing again and have been enjoying Appaloosa Plains... but it's not exciting enough for me.

Their lame bar got a bit of a makeover and I also built an arcade for all the old people to die in, yet I still feel like something is missing.

What are some buildings/lots that you like to add to EA Towns to spice them up a little bit? Need some ideas :P

I am a total back country yokel so I usually build some farms. But this being Appaloosa Plains and all...

You should make a hilariously hick-town bar. Like one full of hay bales, where they probably have incredibly scary barn dances and still play Billy Ray Cyrus on the jukebox.

I built a Turkish bathhouse type lot. 2 hot tubs, an exclusive bar, buffet, a bookcase, a pool and a caretaker's bedroom. Fights beside the hot tub are HYSTERICAL!!

Download an emptified save file and try a "nothing is free" challenge. It gives you an excuse to fully customize your own town. I like taking a sim's lifetime to figure out what lot I will dedicate to them that fits their personality. It makes the town very much a legacy and personalized indeed.

You have WA, so you could build a faerie mound on the outskirts of town. (Assuming you like playing with the WA dungeon building tools.)

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

I like to delete most of the rabbit holes (bookshop, spa, etc) Then combine them on one big lot. Include some nice seating areas and pretty eating area with a bar outside the bistro.
Maybe even include a playground on the lot.

I've just started building a motel with woohooium next to every bed.

Also considering the idea of attempting to build a zoo or aquarium. Getting all the animals on the lot (using buydebug spawners mostly) will be a pain.

Museum of Modern Toilets. Basically an Art Museum, but every toilet from the game is on display, sometimes with funky recolors, sometimes as a avant-garde art piece using OMSP and it's tiltable cousin. Just remember to use the velvet rope from LN to block them, or people will really use them! (unless that's what you want...)

Loving the idea of a little outdoor bistro. Never would have thought of that.

Same with the uber-country themed bar. I'm thinking those will be great to add, because things like that are seriously lacking (imo) in AP.

That's what I did with the giant dog/cat parks... made them into one, medium sized park and included a minor playground for the rugrats. It seems to be the all the rage, too. Even saw a two women go into labour there. Finally got some spark in the town.

It was getting depressing seeing everyone crying in the arcade because another person died there. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HAPPY PLACE.

I like building little strip malls with like, a laundromat full of crack dealers, an 80's arcade-type thing for the teenagers to hang out in, a dive bar . . . for the teenagers to ALSO hang out in (they don't card, ohoho), oddities shop that just screams "THE CHLOROFORM'S ON US", and whatever strikes my fancy like a dingy, soul-eating workout place or a dance studio that's one week away from being closed down.

I'm a girl. Angie. Or DS for all of you lazy shmucks out there. You know who you are.

The bar keeps the same hours as the bistro. Never built a bistro before without using a rabbithole before. Does sound like a good idea.

I've got an odd habbit of building a pool on a disco lot and putting the disco in the basement so they can see the bottom of the pool lol.

How do you make the strip malls, do you place the individual lots right next to each other or do you have one lot with everything and just classify as "hangout" or "visitors allowed"?

Meteorites, and Tiberium. Lots of Tiberium. With Nraas' Story Progression, you suddenly get a massive economic war amongst all of the families which enriched themselves quickly, suddenly buying out rabbitholes left and right out of each other.

After that, I end up adding up an arcade hall, and some workshops with several AMB artifacts.

I have no witty comments to mention here.
