Hello! Ive installed the game on my dad's laptop so my sister can play and I wanted to install some CC but I'm not too familiar with how windows 7 works and the Sims2 folder in the 'Documents' folder only shows up 2 folders and not your typical sims2 folders like neighborhoods, storytelling, etc. etc. I was wondering if I'm looking at the wrong area?

I'll try to get a screencap when I can.

You're probably looking in the wrong Sims 2 folder - there are usually two on Windows 7.

Windows 7 is weird. It always makes two EA Games folders. If you delete the empty one it comes right back. The 'good' one, the one with all your sub folders inside is the first one. I wish I knew what that second folder was for. It's mostly an annoyance when I accidently click on it because I changed the layout of my folders. It doesn't affect anything though.

If I recall correctly, the "neighborhoods" and "storytelling" folders only generate after you run the game at least once(not sure.). Try running the game, and then quitting. There will still be two EA Games folder in your Documents folder. Then, open them both. One will be empty, and the other will have the typical folders. You then create a folder called "Downloads" in the non-empty one and move all your CC there.

You could try hiding the empty folder so you don't click on it accidentally, though. That is what I did.

Please excuse my crappy english :(

The extra one is not actually in your Document, it's in the Public Documents (shared) folder. Because Win7 displays all the contents of both folders together in a documents "library", it's rather challenging to tell which is which until, indeed, you discover that one is empty and the other contains neighbourhoods etc.

I use Windows 7. It makes 2 EA Games folders. One is Public Documents and one is My Documents, so you have to click on MY Documents and you will get the right one. You have to run the game to make the Neighborhoods and storytelling folders. What I do, is I click the link, press open, at the top left choose "Extract All Files" and then extract to My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
If you don't have one, you must make one spelled EXACTLY like this
Downloads
Capital D, lowercase ownloads .
I had one when I installed the game, however some people don't have them. If you download houses, lots, pets, sims, and some walls and floors they are .sims2pack files. You simply double click the file, wait for the Package Installer to come up (it's blue) then choose Install and Install again. For me it takes like 5 seconds to install.

I'll see if it generated them when I get home. Where do I find the 'My Documents' instead of the public one?

Sorry for hijacking the there or anything. I just had a relatable question. Does any one know if by chance something can block CC from being installed? I've been trying to re-install some game mods and content that I used to have a while ago. But do to changes in my personal life and a few lap top replacements I hadn't been able to play sims 2 in a while til now. And so I reinstalled all my expansions the other day. Along with downloading and trying to install some CC. But it is not working. I've turned on displaying custom content in both boxes in the options menu. I've been trying my bes to follow the instructions under FAQs and up to doing the test part of it. But in general I'm just curious could there ever be anything that blocks CC and also if registering your games have anything to do with it either.

I just go Start/Documents and then pick the first EA Games folder. The empty one should be right underneath it. That's how mine is set up anyway. Windows 7 64 bit. 32 bit might be different.

CherryBerry22, do all of the steps in the Game Problem faq and then create your own thread please.

Please do not PM me with Game or Site Help questions. Post them in the appropriate section after going through the FAQs.

It's C:\Users\(your user here)\ My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2
It's not just Documents, it's MY Documents.
