Default I just cannot find this building/window snapping tip I read here!
Okay, I've searched and searched...

A few months ago, I read about a tip for forcing windows to "snap" to the wall...this is great in basements.

I have added an alcove to a basement, put in windows, and they are letting in light, but you can still see the wall in the glass - it is not snapping correctly.

I have moveobjects on so that I do not get the ceiling too low message. I also tried to place the window with constrain floor elevation cheat too.

But someone here mentioned a little trick for this situation and I can't remember it! Ack!

Does anyone remember this little trick? My memory says something like place something in front of the window, like a sink or something, delete the window and then undo the delete. Something like that?

Help?

Usually, when the window glass is blocked by the wall, all you need to do is leave the lot and re-enter it and it'll be fixed.

Phew!

Found it! By RuthlessKK:

You can put a window where ever you want, regardless of the roofline with an easy little trick. First, make sure you have all the roof work done before you add windows. Then put windows where you want using the moveobjects cheat. If you use the moveobjects cheat, you can put the window by roofline as shown in the picture, but it wont be "open". Then go into the interior and run an interior wall next to the closed window..perpendicular to the closed off window. One panel is enough....this will "open" it up. Then delete that wall and you are good to go.

That was going to drive me NUTS until I found it.

Yeah, Liv - I notice Plasticbox posted on that thread. The tip I picked up from her for this sort of issue was to place a square of the stage foundation somewhere near the window. It doesn't have to be actually under the window but can be one or two squares away. That usually snaps windows to working properly. I find this method the easiest to use since placing a wall isn't always feasible.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.
I'm here on tumblr and my site, tflc
