The Supernatural Orphanage
This requires Supernatural. Generations is recommended, but in no way needed.
I made this up a few days ago, just before Supernatural came out here in the UK. Here is the story line...
Story:
You decided you wanted a family at just five years old. It wasn't just a phase some kids go through. It stuck. All you wanted was a nice husband, nice kids, and a generally good life. You find the man of your dreams, and graduate school with excellent scores, mostly in Music and Art. You get married, and try for a baby several times. It doesn't work however. You go to the doctors, who tell you you can't have children. You are devastated. Your husband stands by you, but sadly dies. You are nearing your 50's and decide to adopt a few children. But you find out they are all supernatural. And you HATE supernaturals. But you can't just send them back. These children need you. And whilst you don't like the supernatural, you wouldn't do anything like send them back, or ignore them. You do your best. Even worse, your Husband is now a ghost, so he's a supernatural. But he's decided to help you. But can you do it with all these creatures?
Create-A-Sim:
In create a sim, make a female and male sim in the Adult life stage. The male must be a ghost, with the death of your choosing. I used the transmutation death, which is gold in color, and comes with the expansion. Make the children. You need at least one of each creature, except genie. Ghost is your choice. At least one must be toddlers. I did it with one, a werewolf. The others were children. So I ended up with two werewolves. In all, I had the werewolves, who are siblings, a vampire, a witch, a farie, and a ghost, who died I think off magic. It's a green ghost. Name them what you want, make them look how you like. Do what ever you like. The only rule is the woman MUST have the supernatural skeptic trait.
House:
You may use money cheats, move objects on, and buy debug. Buy debug may only be used for simple things such as a different letter box than the default, and one plant. So make it count. The house MUST have a hall/living room, a kitchen/dining room, two bathrooms, a bedroom for the woman and father, and a bedroom for all the kids. Don't make it extravagant. They aren't super rich, they have very little money. 20000 simoliens at the most. Make it look as old as possible, sort of Victorian.
Rules:
1. You can't have any supernatural friends for your woman. Excluding the kids and the husband, until the kids are near young adults.
2. You can only have one TV. It has to be small, not flat screen or anything.
3. No cheats other than the ones above
The rules are still being done, so any ideas for them are awesome!
Targets:
1. Your witch/witches, depending on how many you have, should learn alchemy.
2. All vampires in the household have to turn at least one sim to a vampire.
3. The above goes for werewolves.
4. Faries have to repair several objects, help people's skills, and play fairy tricks on people seven times per thing by the time they grow up into young adults.
The targets are still being developed, any ideas are great.

This challenge looks like a ton of fun... What do you think about adding, perhaps, a genie kid? And/or an imaginary friend..

nice challenge!
Thanks for this idea! I love doing challenges that involve children, and I've been wanting to explore all the types of supernatural sims. I'm reinstalling my game and starting this challenge!

I've just started this challenge - still working on building/decorating the starting house, but the family is set up. Mom, Dad, child witch girl, child vampire boy, toddler fairy girl, toddler werewolf boy, and toddler genie girl. Trying to get an imaginary friend into the mix too, but that's being stubborn at the moment - I'll figure it out. Since they're Victorian-themed, including the house, I also gave the family a horse.
Question, ladygagasimsfan: would you be opposed to me using mods to allow more than 8 sims in the house? I'm thinking I may extend the "challenge" for a generation or two, but I know I'll hate to kick any kids out, I want to watch them all grow up!

Seeing as all my challenges seem to now be taking place in Moonlight Falls, this one should fit right in too. I'll post pics when I get the chance

Think I might have gone a little too in depth with this family :P
The Snow Family
Meet the parents: Britney and Martin Snow.
For generations, the women in Britney’s family have served as Moonlight Falls’ peacekeepers for the humans and the supernaturals species. Britney’s mother, Trixie Bachelor, was especially famous for not only ending the 100 year long war between the Werewolves and the vampires but also for her best-selling novel: “101 Uses for Fairy Dust” (which included a cure for Zombieism) the good she had done for the citizens of Moonlight Falls, regardless of their species, earned her the affectionate title: “Mama Trixie”, and it was the town’s unwavering love for her that made her murder even harder to deal with.
After going over a week without seeing or hearing from her, Britney paid her mother a visit at her house only to discover her mangled corpse nailed to the wall in the living room. According to the police, the murder was committed by a well-known Supernatural Mafia called the Sons of Lilith. Now that the Vamp/Werewolf war had come to an end, they were no longer profiting off of the weapons they sold to both sides. And when you mess with their income, they mess with you. Britney already harbored a strong dislike toward the Supernatural community because she felt Trixie spent more time being their mother and less time as hers, but this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. She now hated anything supernatural with a passion. Unfortunately, her lack of sisters meant she had to inherit her mother’s job as the town gypsy and supernatural expert. To make matters worse, her husband of 20 years drowned in an unfortunate accident involving a disappearing pool ladder (the ones who discovered his body say they caught a glimpse of Britney’s aunt Bella, who’s been missing for years, hiding in the bushes) Refusing to lose her husband and mother in the same year, a grief-stricken Britney made a deal with the Grim Reaper to bring Martin back to life. Unfortunately, she didn’t completely fulfill her end of the deal. As punishment, the Grim Reaper brought Martin back as a ghost.
Joni Comb’s father left when she was only three years old. As a fairy, her mother raised her to value all life, whether it is animal, human, or supernatural. Unfortunately, when she was 8, her mother was killed by the Sons of Lilith because her fairy blood allows their Vampire members to walk in the sun for up to 24 hours. Knowing what it’s like to lose a mother at the hands of the Mafia, Britney put her hate for supernaturals aside and Joni became the Snow family’s first adopted child. Now 13 years old, Joni serves as the caring and responsible big sister to the other orphans.
The second orphan to join the family, Michael Doyle (Age: 10) was the son of a former NFL player who was forced into early retirement after a rival team spiked his Gatorade with liquid silver, inducing a stroke that rendered the left side of his body paralyzed. Unable to cope with his disability, Michael’s father killed himself by rolling his half paralyzed body into the fireplace. Completely unaware that his six year old son was watching. Coincidentally, Michael’s mother(who died giving birth to him) and father were also orphans, which meant that they didn’t have any relatives to take care of their child in the event of their deaths. After hearing about Michael’s situation, Britney took the boy in. Adopting Joni and Michael made Britney realized there was more of her mother in her than she thought and while she still harbored some resentment against the supernatural community as a whole, she couldn’t possibly turn her back on the children that needed her help. It was this revelation that made Britney turn her house into an orphanage for Supernatural children.
Lloyd Esquivel (Age: 10) was the abused son of Mafia Boss: Vladimir Esquivel, the Vampire head of the Sons of Lilith. Because of his shy nature and unwillingness to follow in his father’s footsteps, Lloyd spent his entire life as a punching bag for the members of Vladimir’s organization. The years of abuse and torture he went through made him self-loathing and reclusive. When he was 9, his father and the majority of the Sons of Lilith were killed in a shootout with the police. Although she was reluctant to take in the son of the man directly responsible for her mother’s death, Britney wouldn’t allow herself to turn down a child in need of a home, and so Lloyd became part of the family. Despite now being surrounded by people who love and respect him, Lloyd still has a hard time being around his new family. He spends most of his time in his room or at the Library. However, Michael has somehow become the only one Lloyd talks to (The boys have been sharing a room for a year so I guess it’s only natural that they become friends)
Not much is known about Samantha Staples (Age: 2) other than her name and the fact that she’s a witch. She was left on Britney’s doorstep a few weeks ago with nothing but the clothes on her back, a small note from who Britney believes is the child's mother, and a teddy bear. She's fit in with the Snow family just as well as the other children (well except for Lloyd) have. Although, they have noticed an increase in missing belongings (toothbrushes, toys, jewlery, ect.) replaced with toads ever since Samantha joined hem.

So the dad keeps getting the "wants a child" want but since the mom can't have kids, that'll never happen. Really a-holey thing to do but is it alright if he cheats on her :P

Time to Check back in with the Snow Family
Homework time. Notice Lloyd going to extremes to distance himself from others. "I prefer the corner."
Typical family dinner (Lloyd doesn't object to sitting at the table with the family because Britney wont let him eat unless he does) "You better get your little *** to the table before I chop you up like this sushi"
The lil guys' sleeping quarters. This is actually one of the rare occasions that Joni doesn't sleep in the Fairy House. And Samantha never sleeps at night -_____-
Wanting to be an NFL player like his dad, Michael spends a lot of his time jogging around town at night since he's busy with school and afterschool activities during the day. Whenever he isn't working out, he's harassing the other supernaturals in town. "So......that lady I saw you in the fairy house with....that wasn't your wife.....she was a lot hairier....and masculine" that man would later suffer the painful process of divorce no less than 2 days later. He now lives with his mistress, Jeff, in his mother's basement.
Because he's not much of a people person (and his house is full of people) Lloyd is almost always either at the beach or the Library "There's no amount of suspension of disbelief that could make me take vampires sparkling in the sun seriously"
Because Lloyd keeps to himself and Michael's eccentric behavior freaks everyone out, Joni's the only one that makes any friends at school. She's also in charge of taking care of the family whenever Britney and Martin are at work. Of course, her brothers are rarely home anyway so it's more like just taking care of Samantha. "If you turn this into a toad again, I'm not getting a you a new one."
That is until they got Bonehilda
Samantha doing her typical toddler stuff. Nobody in the family seems to know where she found that weird looking toy and it's beginning to concern Britney
When she's not fulfilling her duty as the town gypsy, Britney, who's also not much of a people person and hasn't found any hobbies that don't involve associating herself with supernaturals, decided to take cooking lessons so her kids could eat more than sushi every day (since cooking is the only thing she can't get Bonehilda to do)
Martin's another one that doesn't like being home. Still a little depressed over being dead and Britney not being able to bear any children, Martin spends his time drowning his sorrows in alcohol and regularly flirts with Sookie Stackhouse.
He also sees no problem in taking advantage of Joni being a daddy's girl, and sneaking her out to bars at night so she can use her fairy powers to steal and cheat people out of their money. "Remember, the more money you get the more Daddy loves you."

I am trying this now but I have a few changes:
(1) The skeptic is a man (my Simself) and the spouse is a legacy spare I turned into a Mummy's Curse ghost. I know this is against the rules because you wanted the woman to be the skeptic to be more story-realistic(she is impotent and remarrying won't fix it), but I think this could go either way! After all, unless you have a risky WooHoo mod, having WooHoo won't get you pregnant.
(2) I set the age sliders so the toddlers, children and teens have more time to be toddlers, children and teens and when they are young adults they'll live practically forever. This is because I won't have Fountains of Youth for quite a while.
(3) I used a Motherlode to get $50000 instead of $20000, but I used the blueprints to make a house and it sucked up all the money. I'll probably replace the TV with a tiny one like you want so I can purchase an Alchemy Station for my ghost wife.
Supernatural Skeptic: C.J. Glenn, his LTW is to become a Celebrity Psychic and scam all the humans into thinking aliens exist.
Ghost Wife: Froslass Glenn, her LTW is to be an Alchemy Artisan. She was killed by the Mummy's Curse while trying to harvest flame fruits to concoct a potion to make her husband pregnant because Try For Baby was a failure - he was impotent. She didn't have any martial arts skill when Raymundo attacked...
Left Child: Crobat Von Blood, vampire kid.
Middle Child: Gothitelle Heale, haunting curse ghost kid.
Right Child: Jynx Healer, fairy kid and half-sister to Gothitelle. She has the alien eyes from the sliders.
Left toddler: Lilligant Petals, fairy baby.
Middle toddler: Stoutland Feral, werewolf baby.
Right toddler: Absol Disaster, witch baby.
"Seriously... what the he**? I'm not going to dig graves for all of you. Okay, now what will I do with all of these corpses? Oh, there's a fire and I've fallen into a hole. Not my problem anymore!" (From MaskedHuzzah's Dragon Warrior III Let's Play)

I actually tried something a lot like this when I first got Supernatural. The only difference was that all the kids were the same age and there was only one adult (who also hated supernaturals).Mainly it was just so I could see how all the powers changed as the kids grew up and stuff. But it was incredibly fun, and it was definitely something I wanted to try again after all the kids grew up. So maybe I'll try your challenge.

When I started another challenge http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=535375 I have created one werewolf, one vampire, one genie, one witch, one fairy and one ghost. It sounds like I have started this challenge also but I didn't include supernatural skeptic trait to caretaker
BTW, target for another challenge was
I can apply the same target here.
Also I think it might be good to certain other goals here
1. Your witch/witches, depending on how many you have, should achieve top level 10 in alchemy and make Midas touch elixir
2. All vampires in the household have to turn at least one sim to a vampire.
3. The above goes for werewolves.
4. Faries have to repair 5 objects, play fairy tricks on people seven times per thing by the time they grow up into young adults.
BTW, target for another challenge was
Quote:
Goal:To successfully raise 7 randomized Toddlers into Young Adulthood and earn at least $50,000 in the family funds. |
