I like knowledge the most. Due to my playing style, skilling is severely restricted - unless there's a want for a skill. And knowledge sims are always wanting to skill, so are also often the ones that rise the highest in their careers.

Least favorite - a toss up between pleasure and romance. Romance sims often have many 'cheating' wants, which I don't really like. On the other hand, pleasure sims seem to have little 'big' wants so keeping them in the green or higher is often...not difficult, exactly, but annoying. Lots of little wants, which don't rack up much points.

I'd say my least favourite is Family. As all my sims really have that playstyle regardless of what aspiration that they actually have.

I don't really play the game properly, I've always used it for stories and building and sim creation.

My favourite is probably Romance, though most of my romance sims so far want to stay monogamous anyway. I have had no cheating wants. =(

My favourite is probably Knowledge, but that's probably just because I like making significant progress in my game really quickly and there are a lot of longer-term rewards of the Knowledge Aspiration.
My least favourite is probably Pleasure though - making my Sim go bowling when I could be making them get tortured on an alien spaceship just doesn't really appeal to me that much. :D

I think we've had this thread before, but...What the hell, I'll answer.

And my answer now, after 6 years of playing, is that I don't have a favorite anymore. I like them all because I like as much variety in my hoods as possible, to avoid boredom. Avoiding boredom is important since I tend to play long-term hoods, once I settle into one.

I use to hate the Pleasure aspiration, to the point that I disallowed it in my game, but now that I have a mod that allows any LTW for any aspiration, the Pleasure Sims don't mostly get dating LTWs. I hate doing the dating thing, so that was what killed my enthusiasm for the aspiration. I also play pretty much strictly according to my Sims' wants (as in, my goal is to fulfill them, whatever crazypants things they roll), and Pleasure Sims are sort of endearingly ADHD, constantly wanting to do different silly things, so they're always on the move and their wants panel is never static. Static = boring.

AND a Pleasure Sim's want panel is never completely full of "I want to sit on my ass for hours/days/weeks and study 'X'" wants, like Knowledge Sims. I mean, to spice them up, I give them all a free hacked telescope so that they can go visit aliens whenever they want and then deal with the consequences of the Alien Experiments mod. Otherwise...*snooze*

I like playing big (Like 6 kids, at the very least) families, so I've got no problem with Family Sims whatsoever. Bring 'em on.

Fortune Sims are a lot like Knowledge Sims in that they'll want to skill for their jobs, but they're not nearly as boring because they also get the crazypants "I want to buy all the things!" wants which, as I understand it, most people think is annoying, but I actually like. If nothing else, it forces me to decorate their houses, something that I don't otherwise pay much attention to doing.

Romance Sims are easy and entertaining. If they're to stay unattached and they have lovers/woohoo LTWs, they'll work as "escorts" in my hoods, living off of selling dating gifts, plus a tidy bonus if their date rolls woohoo wants that get fulfilled. Yeah, it means that I have to do the dating thing, but they're made more fun, to me, by the fact that they're run according to the date's wants, not the playable Sim's wants. And if a Romance Sims isn't single? Well, usually they're in open and/or poly relationships, so they get their fill of lovers without "cheating," necessarily.

And Popularity Sims? Also easy and entertaining. Give 'em a phone and an occasional trip to a community lot to meet new people to yak with, and they're good to go. Also, I've come to enjoy throwing the parties they often roll wants for. It's not a want I always fulfill for them right away -- If they have a job, for instance, they have to wait for their next day off -- but when I do throw parties, I've found them to be fun. Interesting things often happen amongst the guests, once sufficiently influenced to interact with each other.

Grilled cheese? I don't use it as a primary aspiration, but I do like it as a secondary aspiration, particularly for Knowledge Sims, to get them out of those mind-numbingly boring skilling ruts. :p

So, yeah, I like all of the aspirations pretty much equally. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably pick Fortune and if I had to pick a least favorite it'd definitely be Knowledge, but they're only slightly ahead of or behind the others, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm mostly found on (and mostly upload to) Tumblr these days because, alas, there are only 24 hours in a day.

I don't have a favorite. I have played more knowledge and family in my days because those are closest to my own way of life, but that was more in my "newbie" sim days. Now I'll switch things up and go for different ones, depending on what the idea behind that Sim is.

But of the six (not going to include grilled cheese, because that doesn't really count in my opinion) I find romance the least entertaining. I don't mind others having a more open lifestyle than I do, but I've always been a die hard monogamist, and also keep my friends to a few very close friends. I like playing romance now and then on a specific type of sim, but it's always going to be a minority in my hood.

The Popularity Aspiration is my favourite. Some say it's the easiest, because you just need to make lots and lots of friends and then your Sim can die happy. It's the most common aspiration in my Sims.

I'd have to say the Pleasure aspiration is my least favourite. Seriously, these guys want to go on a date every single day, to the point they show up at a nice restaurant and piss themselves right in front of everyone because they spent so much time bowling earlier and so little time answering the call of nature. And you know how to end a good date? At home, maybe in the bedroom. But these guys don't even lift their heads from the bar they're sitting at! And when their dates stand up; "Just one more drink, baby? C'mon, this'll be quick!"

I really like all of the aspirations, except Grilled Cheese and Pleasure. My order (which has changed somewhat since I started playing) of favorites is:
-Family. I love huge families, weddings, and lots of family get togethers. Everything about family sims I love except that having too many babies leads to overpopulation.
-Romance. I used to hate romance sims, and I do disagree with most of their decisions, but they are so fun to play! They cause so much drama and I never get tired of them. I just a can't have too many of them, only a few. They don't have to cheat on anyone to be happy either, they just need a little lovin'.
-Knowledge. I love my nerdy and curious sims, they're so interesting. Being a knowledge sim can lead to so many different things, like aliens and I love my aliens
-Fortune/Popularity. Fortune sims are good because I like having workaholics and businesses. I also like to throw big parties for my sims. The party sims are always enjoyable.
-Pleasure. They're like a downgraded version of popularity and romance. Like do something with your life, geez! I always get bored with pleasure sims and it's probably my own fault, but whatever. Mainly all they want is to go out to community lots, which I like, but when they're at home they have nothing to do. I'll only use this as a secondary aspiration.
-Grilled Cheese. Who even likes grilled cheese? (Not judging those of you who do, just saying I think this aspiration is a cool one to test out, but gets old really fast.)

The lack of big aspirations for pleasure sims does get annoying at times. It makes a certain kind of sense, though, that they're short-term thinkers and narcissists going after instant gratification, big, long-term goals wouldn't really occur to them. That said, I don't tend to play it as a primary aspiration either. As a secondary aspiration, though, it's very useful, lots of little, easily satisfied wants that provide lots of opportunities to reroll your sim's wants if no worthwhile ones are popping up.

Family sims are very common in my hoods; I like building big, functional neighborhoods requiring a lot of workhorse sims. Just like in real life, family oriented sims might not be flashy, but they're solid, reliable community members who keep things running, maintain continuity and provide social cohesion, it's good having them around. It's also my default secondary aspiration, since most of my sims wind up having kids anyway, like samantha_kathy mentioned. A slightly odd combo I've been playing a lot lately is Family with Romance as a secondary, so you get sims that want to have lots of babies with EVERYBODY, plus have the massive attraction lifetime aspiration reward to make it easier. Those sims are really handy in older hoods where genetic diversity is becoming a concern, or in prehistoric hoods when evolutionary pressure is supposed to be a major factor.

When I play popularity sims, its generally not to have them be "social butterflies" but because I want an artist or writer and popularity sims tend to roll the novel and painting wants more. Again, popularity is a great secondary aspiration, because BFF wants are some of the easiest to fulfill, just lock them and you have gold aspiration in the bank.

My big shot sims (vampires, nobles, pillars of the community) tend to be knowledge or fortune because of the advantages they offer. The investment reward for fortune is really unparallelled in terms of practical usefulness, except maybe the twins bonus for family sims.

Aspirations the Sims do have many depending on what EPs you have then I think they can have two. I'll share my likes and dislike.

1. Family Sims I will say yes and no, it can start turning to no when their want for a baby become out of orbit. I had one Sims who soon after she gave birth to the infant she right then and there wanted another ,within seconds.
2. Fortune Sims is by far one of my favorite Sims as long as they are working and have the money to buy better items they are happy.
3. Knowledge Sims can be so gifted with skills and knowing everything that I can say yes, it can turn to no when they get over- kill for the darker side of life.
4. Popularity Sims is also one of my favorite as long as they are talking on the phone or meeting friends they are happy.

5. Pleasure Sims Maxis said they are a cross between a Romance and Popular Sims , they want amorous activity ( like a romance Sims ) they desire a very wide social network ( like a Popular Sims but not as exclusively )
As long a they can hit the clubs ride fast cars, dates and just have fun they are happy. Fortune Sims can be a good match for a pleasure Sims since Pleasure Sims like the things money can buy. They're ok.
6. Romance Sims a BIG NO they need therapy their sex addiction and need for love can be out of "orbit" but if you want real "Drama" in your neighborhoods the Romance Sims can start the hood rocking.
7. Grilled Cheese Sims No all I can do is pray for them, they also need therapy ( eating disorder ) poor pixel.
8. Sims Toddler and Child aspiration you have to love it because they do not ask for much. ( Growing up ) :lovestruc

Family sims are the best because they're so cute with the canoodling and the cuddling and the toddlers and the dirty jokes. They give me big families and lots of lovely fun chaos.

Fortune sims are the best because they're so solid and reliable and methodical, and oh-so-sexy too. They take care of their own and are good to have around when chaos hits, because they manage things so well.

Knowledge sims are the best because they're curious and roll wants to go new places and do new things. Knowledge sims in love are so faithful!

Pleasure sims are the best because they cause lots of good drama with their dating wants and their short-term thinking. They're great with children and always have time for their friends. They also love going to community lots, creating more opportunities for interaction and random accidental drama, which keeps the game from getting routine.

Popularity sims are the best because they facilitate connections all over the neighborhood. They like to throw parties and go on outings, at which anything can happen.

Romance sims are the best because DRAMA! And when you really get in there and play their characters, they are capable of generating really interesting, intense story and character arcs, as they struggle to be faithful, or make one relationship into their life's work, or breeze heartlessly from lover to lover, or use woohoo as a safety valve that allows them to be always there for their friends in their crises.

Hierarchical rankings are the bunk. I can't do without any of them and all of them are my favorite.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

My least favourite is Pleasure.
I play according to their wants, and they often have a bazillion little wants which are a bit annoying if you want them to get platinum aspiration. Also they often add very little to my story.
OK, this is not awfully bad, but all the others are better

Well, actually Grilled Cheese is just as bad, or even worse, but since it's only selectable as a secondary aspiration I guess I'm not so aware of it most of the time.

My favourite? I don't know.
I like having a variety of them, so they make up for great stories.
Some Family Sims who want to get married and have children. And Romance Sims who may be creating drama
Knowledge are cute, and make some nice Sims who are too focused on their investigation to realize what's going on. While Fortune tend to focus on their job as well, they are often more selfish.
Popularity is rather nice, despite not having anything about it that I love it does not ahve anything that bothers me either.

I guess for me it's all about balancing them out: Too many Family ones and you have huge hoods, too many Romance ones and it's hard to get anyone to marry, too many Knowledge and Fortune and they will all be laboring and nothing else, too many Popularity and the hood will be a way too happy kind of place.
So some of each of those, and just a little few Pleasure, and I'm happy

I don't really have a favourite. Thanks to secondary aspirations, I get a nice mix of wants without anything really getting monotonous. Except for one combo - fortune and knowledge. I dislike that one because all they want to do is skill for promotions. Ugh.

Knowledge Sims are definitely my favouite Sims, since they want everything and are afraid of nothing (but singing karaoke)! I do hve quite a lot of the others except for Pleasure Sims (there are three, I think). I draw the line at Grilled Cheese. I won't have such a Sim in my game if I can help it.

Miriamnz, you greatly underestimate the chemistry potential of Fortune and Popularity! Look at Cyjon's numbers again.

All the sexiest sims in Drama Acres, the ones with the widest boltage base, are Fortune sims. They really don't tank out with anybody.

And Popularity and Fortune sims are both peculiarly susceptible to Romance types, Popularity because they're so open to personal interaction and Fortune because they're so ready to commit. A Fortune sim being actively pursued by multiple Romance sims can have four engagement wants at once.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

I find the grilled cheese aspiration useful, in the fact that I use it for (ex-)military sims to signify PTSD, or to simulate any other mental disorder.

I like most of the aspirations... I used to despise romance, but after playing Don Lothario for a while, I've grown to enjoy it. Family and Knowledge are always going to be my personal favorites because they're the aspirations I'd assign to myself. In my opinion, the Fortune aspiration gives out the easiest lifetime wants (except for the five top level businesses...not even going to try to accomplish that one).

My least favorite is popularity. I don't know why. It's the aspiration I give to teens who haven't shown a strong preference towards any other aspirations.

I'm not a fan of the fortune aspiration though I do use it alot because I use a die to determine aspirations. This method has also gotten me two grilled cheese sims in the same house which is so annoying it is pathetic. I usually re-roll when it comes to Grilled Cheese, but decided to give it a try this time....never again....

Knowing she'll keep me safe from all harms
Though six feet apart, I lay in her arms...

Favorite is knowledge, because the wants for that one are usually interesting (Get struck by lightning, Drink [insert-enemy-name-here], etc). Least favorite is Popularity. Besides having relatively boring wants, they can be really high maintenance, because making and keeping more than a few relationships is not my strong suit in this game... I mean, I can do it, but I just find it annoying more than anything...

Knowledge is the one that I use the most, by far (virtually all of my supernatural life state Sims get this aspiration- it works well for them) but I'm also fond of the Fortune one, just because it seems wrong to have someone who doesn't focus on money to the exclusion of all else as the inhabitant of one of the penthouses or mansions I'm fond of designing... plus the stock market reward is one of my favorites, and a good way to add a little fluidity to my 1-percent-Sims financial situations.

My favourite 'aspiration' is the ability to have a secondary aspiration, because it allows your sims' personalities to be more varied.

Have a money focused sim who works his way to the top so he can leave a legacy for his family ... fortune/family.

Want a romance sim who is more likely to want lots of romance with one person, give them family as a secondary.

Have a knowledge sim who wants to make a great discovery that will make them famous ... knowledge/popularity.

Have any sim who you want to play as maybe a little obsessive, but not so much that it takes over their life ... grilled cheese as a secondary.

While I can't say I have a favourite, I do tend to choose either Popularity or Family for most of my sims. I do like the Popularity rewards.
The least favourite - meaning I only chose it once and got really bored with it - is Grilled Cheese.

What's your favourite aspiration?
If I'm honest, I have to say Romance. Otherwise I wouldn't have created a custom 'hood entirely populated by Romance Sims!

Why?
Probably because in Real Life I'm the male equivalent of an old maid. Romance is an aspect of life that's entirely passed me by!

In a more normally played neighbourhood (Veronaville) I don't really have a favourite. My favourite Sim, Andrew, is Knowledge, but his mum is Romance, albeit Romance with self-control. She doesn't woohoo all over the place.

I like nice Popularity Sims. All they want is to be friends with everyone. I made my parish priest Popularity because I want her to get on well with all the Sims in the neighbourhood. Nasty Popularity Sims like Tybalt are a bit harder to get on with.

I like the funny little wants that keep Pleasure Sims happy. And if you want to make them really happy, send them on a date with someone they love, because they like that too. Though, what is endearing in a teen, can be exasperating in an adult. Like Bill McBain's constant wants to stay home from work. But it made him the obvious choice when someone had to stay home permanently to look after the babies.

When I create a two parent family in CAS, I usually make at least one parent Family in the hope that it will make them care better for their children. I'm not sure it doesn't just make them want to have lots of babies though. I don't really relate to these constant wants to have more babies, but I do think it's important to look after the children you've already got, and look after them well.

What's the least?
I regard the Grilled Cheese aspiration as nothing but a curse that can befall a Sim who uses the ReNu-Yu Orb at the wrong time. It hasn't happened to any of my Sims yet, and if it ever does, I'll do my utmost to help the Sim concerned escape the curse!

I haven't met a Fortune Sim that I really like yet, but I'll take Peni's word for it that likeable Fortune Sims do exist. The ones I know best are the Capps, and, though I do try to understand where they're coming from, they're just not the most likeable people around! I suppose I'm not very financially motivated myself. If I was, I'd be earning money rather than playing The Sims! And I suppose that makes it hard for me to empathise.

I find it a little annoying how non family sims hardly ever roll the wants to teach to walk/talk etc. It either leaves the family parent to do all the work or you feel as if you're forcing them.
