I don't get this, I keep all my houses as clean as possible, yet everyone in my neighborhood keeps getting the flu.

I don't hire maids as I know Sims are capable of cleaning themselves.

So whats causing the flu, it is old-newspapers, unpaid bills, unmaded beds?... but I keep the kitchen, and bathroom clean all the time?
I always clean up straight away when I notice a bit of a mess, I keep the bath, shower, toilet clean at all times.

Just if I visit a community lots, my game gets flooded by messages that distract my view .... is sick with the flu, needs plenty of rest, and gotta close the ten or so windows. Its getting annoying really...

Plus they are always coughing like they are about to die, and makes things hard to get done.

The game never used to be like this, getting sick was rare, but now way too common ?

Anyone know ?

A few things. First there are 5 different types of sickness. Flu, Cold, Pneumonia, Food Poisoning, Morning Sickness, and Virus.
The Flue, cold and Virus are all highly contagious. There is a slight chance (1%) that your Sim will get a cold from going to work or school symptoms of a cold are coughing and Sneezing.
If you leave the cold untreated it turns to Pneumonia, instead of sneezing your Sims become tired quickly.
Flu is coughing and Diarrhea, and you get it if there are roaches around.

Food poising happens if a Sim eats spoiled food, and sometimes the food becomes spoiled in the middle of your Sims eating it.

Also if anyone is using the Boitech career reward they could make a Virus, which could have any two of the symptoms.

Anyways treatment requires 12 hours of rest, could be sleep or lounging or anything to keep the comfort and energy up.

Mine have all got sick since re installing from the missing icon bug . . Think they're as fed up as I've been ! It's only a cold, so doesn't seem to take long to clear up, but really contageous and every house i'm going on they have it or are getting it ! More work for me then !

Hmmm! its always the Flu, althought sometimes Ive caught a sim eating spoiled food, this only started happening everywhere when I started firing all the maids.

So whatever the maid was doing, that im not doing, I don't get it.

I just don't see the point in treating flu anymore, cause ill rest them, they then get better, but a few minutes later they will only catch it again.

Im still so confused, wasn't the info I was after, I wish I could stop the flu altogether, and more importantly whats causing it ?

I never get roaches, I use to, but I said, my "tidy" houses stop roaches, but not the Flu.

Why don't you try the InSIMinator? It's here,
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthre...52&page=1&pp=25
Scroll down and under 'chair options', it says "medical/immunize". I haven't tried it myself, but check it out - maybe it will help!

What's the "mysterious disease"? Three of my Sims have gotten it... It seems like a cold but then they start throwing up.

Thank-you romymichelle21, actually I have got the Insimator, and I didn't know what medical/immunize actually does, I never thought about using it, I suppose that what I would have to do.

Its leaves me with no choice, still I wouldn't mind whats causing it and how to cure it altogether without using any cheats.

I was in the same boat you are/were. Sick sims everywhere. The key word here is CONTAGIOUS! (sorry for the scream) Keep sick sims away from healthy sims. Get your sick sims healthy again, one household at a time.

Keep track of which sims are sick and which are healthy. Keep sick sims home from work/school (it's a killer of grades - a good reason to keep them up). While they are home they can study, do homework, relax, sleep. I have gone so far as using the voodoo bottle to wipe out their comfort or energy motives. I don't think it helped much though.

Do not have sick sims prepare meals. I don't know if this is a factor or just common sense. I have a healthy sim cook the meal and all healthy sims eat first. After the healthy sims have finished eating, the sick sims have their meal. The important part is to keep the healthy sims away from the sick ones.

Do not great any guests. They may be sick and can infect healthy sims. They can become infected and carry it back to their home. Visitors are an absolute NO NO period. In the meantime, your healthy sims can talk on the phone. Remember, they do so standing up, and you need to keep your sick sims off their feet.

When everyone in a household is healthy, save the game and move on to the next household. Do not worry about relationship scores etc. till every sim is healthy. One sick sim can reinfect your intire neighbourhood.

But how does the virus from the reward object cause sims to be sick? Just by leaving it there? Because the sims are not able to do anything with the virus except "dispose"??

If somebody else in your neighborhood that you don't play is sick, they could be spreading it around. Sick sims can spread their illness when they come around in walkbys or show up at community lots.

I have not used it but somewhere I saw a medicine cabinet which could be downloaded which was supposed to cure all the illnesses. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it. The only thing my Sims ever seem to come down with is morning sickness (there must be a reason for that )

I went through a nasty bit of this...and still am...but what was so weird...my one sim came home from work sick...and it just progressed beyond belief to all his family members...but the worst part is, since this happened, every lot I go on now, someone imeadiately dies of a disease and I have to plead with death and get them restored...and as soon is that is done...the lot is fine. So weird.
