I've been looking around for what seems like hours trying to figure out my problem but nothing seems to help. I've downloaded several mods recently and not a single one of them is showing up. I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and I also have custom content on as well as a Downloads folder and I've restarted the game like 50 times and as I said before nothing shows up. I'm really upset because I was looking forward to using them.

Have you enabled custom content in the game? The game comes with it disabled. Have you read the Ultimate Collection FAQ (link to it in sticky thread above) to be sure you have your Downloads folder in the right path?

Yes, I have done all of that but it still doesn't work.

If the CC was made with the store edition then it will not show up, download a house here at MTS that only has the base game needed to install and then install it and see if it shows up.

What do you mean, Mark, by store edition? I can only guess you mean the the physical discs as opposed to the digital UC, but a lot of the EPs were available as digital downloads with no such issues. I personally suspect the problems lie in the combination packs of EPs and SPs used to build UC.

At the risk of being moderated away: although I have the UC in my Origin account and I bought all the physical discs I am running a pirate all-in-one Sims 2 torrent download that removes the Securom and the need to have a disc in the drive. The installer was modified to be Win 7 compatible. I have had none of the issues the UC users are having. If you choose to go this path, look for a version made using the original EPs and SPs, not the combinations like Double Deluxe, Fun with Pets, etc. Use nothing that requires a key generator; those are inevitably virus laden. Scan it for viruses before opening. Note that I am not advocating piracy per se, just a better version of the game than Origin seems to be offering.

I've followed that and yet nothing comes up. I've used the bodyshop trick and that didn't work. I'm just going to delete the mods because I don't see a point in having them if I can't use them.

Did you try and install the house I link to in post #4?

marka, I don't think that can be right.. I know my friend had store addition and I installed some cc that she made, some men's boxer shorts and pictures and had no trouble getting those to show. Where do you get the idea that if someone makes cc while having the store addition no one else without store condition can use it? Or you mean something else?

KiriChan1214, can you link us to a piece of cc that you want to use? Also do you have CEP installed?

Yes, I just deleted them all but i'll see if I can find them again.

If the OP has installed CC in the correct place and have followed all info in this thread then CC should be showing up, the only thing at this point that I can think of is that the CC has a Store Edition signature and if it does it will not show up. If you have SE and you make hoods or sub-hoods they will not show up in UC.

Now back to my ? in post # 4, have the OP installed this lot yet and has it showed up in the game.


@KiriChan1214 can you take a screen shot of what is inside of your UC folder in My Doc.

I'l have to disagree and say Store edition has no baring on cc showing. Lots and hoods are something else again. The OP never mentioned lots just cc. Getting a lot to show up and getting a piece of clothing or hair to show up are two entirely different things.

Op the path you need for cc is My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Downloads

And if the OP is using Windows 7 there will be two EA Games folders, each containing a Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder. Only one of these is correct. There are good instructions elsewhere in this forum for getting only the right folder to show up. I still have no idea what you guys mean by "store edition" either, and I specifically asked.

This is SE which was able to download from the Sims 2 web site and it was included in the Tri packs set of EP/SP http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_2_Store_Edition

It is a new game engine that if you make any thing while it is installed then what ever you make can have the SE stamp and you will need SE to use.

When you say 'mods' OP what exactly do you mean? Mods don't usually show up in game. Do you mean custom content (things like objects and skins)? Or do you mean actual mods, as in files which change the game coding?

Regarding the Store Edition, I think the main issue with it is that a non-Store edition game won't recognise neighbourhoods made with the Store edition. At least I think so. That was one of those things Moo used to know so much about.

It was also included in Apartment Life, so your argument is invalid, or nobody who has Apartment Life can make CC that will show up for other people. It was just a client in the game to buy content from EA in game, not a new game engine. http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_2_Store_Edition

My AL disk does not have SE on it.

They say it was included in DD to but my DD does not have SE on it either.

As far as I know the Store Addition only ever affected hoods and lots not hair, clothes, make up etc. As I said my friend had store addition and I had no problem getting the cc she made show up in my non store addition game. I think we are getting off the track here, the OP has the Ultimate Collection and trouble with cc is not unknown to happen with it.

Let's see if the OP has tried the proper path, is not using the wrong folder-good point out rhiamom, lot's of people do place it in the wrong folder. has CEP installed, all the usual things first.

I meant like new hairstyles. I just can't seem to find what I used.

I have the CEP, I had been putting them in the downloads folder. I tried reloading my game and seeing if the hairstyle had show up and nothing.

After doing the bodyshop trick, did you also try the next step from the FAQ, editing the config files? I had the same issue, not using UC though, and editing the config files solved that problem. Certainly worth a try

Ah right, you mean CC.
CEP is irrelevant here if what you are talking about is skins. It only affects objects.

I am new in downloading CC yet, but what I already learned, If you downloaded new hairstyle, you need mesh for it too. And when I dowloaded one default replacement hair, it did not show image in CAS, but if used on sim it will replace old hairstyle.

You can refresh the thumbnails in CAS by holding Ctrl and right-clicking the thumbnail.

I had a similar problem years ago. In my poltergeist case i had all the content nice organized in sub-folders inside "Downloads" and all was solved when I decided to take out them from the sub-folders and directly paste them on download; of course this also made my downloads become a chaos realm but.. well..

As you said you have the cc option active and also have CEP installed, the only thing I can suggest is be sure the CC the download is for the EPs you have, also that the cc is uncompressed, you have the requiered meshes (as Annaminna said)...

I think is useless to add than you can also may check if you are pasting them on the correct folder: there are some mods or hacks (like camera) that dont work if u put them in "donwloads" because they are not this kind of content. Usually the file has the description of their use but is nice to check all the possibilities when you have an error like this one.

Also is important to check if the mods you are using are same kind of not, because global hacks and mods sometimes replace each others and you can only have one of them working at a time. Be sure they are compatible in working (usually the site where you download them show some info about it).

If all keep falling, then check the CC type you are trying to use : have they something in common that could be the cause of the not-working? (downloaded for a same certain site, etc).

Hope you can solve it soon, because I know how much frustrating can be...
