This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Is my computer to blame...
I can't get any help on the sims 4 website so I'm coming here as my last bit of hope... I have read, and yes, re-read the steps I've tried removing custom content, loading a new world, yada yada... My sims 3 game continuously crashing on saves, occasionally leaving CAS, and editing world.. Very rarely I will be able to save, and If I've played longer than about 30 real life minutes, forget about it.

I've removed all mods and CC to test, saved once, then crashes. My game is NOT laggy. I own nearly the entire Sims 3 store, ALL EP's and a couple SP's. I've spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars and would just like to be able to play a family longer than a week. And yes, I have tried deleting my cashe files

I am the least computer savvy person I know, so I really need some help.

When I create a new family, it seems to work OKAY for a few (real life) days. It seems like the second I have my sims actually do anything such as university, or world adventures it wants to crash so if I move my whole Sims 3 users directory to my desktop it is going to take most likely a few days for it to act up. I have only had this family for maybe a month and I am playing on epic, though I am assuming since this is an actual option that the game comes with that it shouldn't be an issue, They have already acquired 2 degrees each, been to china and Egypt 3 times each and have a ton of skills. Could the file have just gotten too big? Though that doesn't explain why my new families crash sometimes, I will need to test no mods and moving the folder out I suppose :\ I would really hate to abandon this family.

I can't get it to NOT save as a txt file, there are no other options other than that. What am I doing wrong?

Also, It said "access denied" and before that said the "admin" had to Ok it, I am the only person who uses this computer, I should be the admin, am I correct.?

Edit: Just checked my settings, I am indeed administrator but I am still getting denied :\

You should move the original file to your desktop and make a copy of it. Edit the original and simply save it, then move it back to the game/bin directory.

For some reason that directory is read write protected (Which I guess isn't that uncommon).

Thank you, that helped. Though; Do I need to do this for all games in my bin? I changed the base game and checked my deviceconfig again and it was still showing Texture memory: 32MB <<OVERRIDE>>

I've noticed that my "generations" folder doesnt have a graphics card SRG file.. problem? It is the only one that does not.

I went ahead and changed them all to 4851 (BUT I kept all the ORIGINAL files in a folder on my desktop in case you guys yell at me for that ) it seems so have changed the deviceconfig below though

I played a normal amount of time that I would and tried saving, 20 minutes into my save boom, crash. Going to try running it in compatibility mode for a windows vista, I have tried 7 and 8 and nothing....

I will definitely test out a clean game and let you know if this doesn't fix the problem, I don't know that I completely understand what you mean by

# if ($textureMemory == 0)
seti textureMemory 4851
# setb textureMemorySizeOK false
# endif

Should I just add the "#" where you have them? I thought I was only changing the number and got confused.

Also, my game is, or at least says it is, fully updated.

You are very helpful, I appreciate your help. Here is my updated Deviceconfig file.
I have also selected to run the sims 3 as administrator.

Loading the game up to test right now. I'm hoping that that file ^^^^^ looks like it should now after eliminating those lines..

windows 8 is a pain tbh, I would go back to 7,

The other game folders SRG files are still the same though, they still all say 32, should I change them? And The generations folder still does not have a graphics card SRG file not sure if that matters. My game seems to be stuck loading right near the end and i'm nto sure if it's because of them all not being the same. I feel so useless when it comes to computers Lol

I have reverted them back to their original folders, I closed the game and I'm going to tried loading up again. Just a question, I've never had any real issues with my graphics card on sims or other games but is it a decent one for the sims?

I waited ad while and it managed to load itself up. I suppose I'll play my normal 10 minutes or so and see if I can save I'll update you then!

I've never seen an 8 core CPU before, though unlikely... this might be causing confusion with the game. Open your task manager while Sims 3 is running. Right click on TS3W.EXE and "set affinity," check only 2 or 4 cores.

Is an 8 core CPU bad? Also I don't really know how to get to the TS3W.EXE file you are talking about I opened up my task manager (ctrl, alt, delete, correct?) and just see this:

Your card is an overkill for the game, TS3 never uses more than about 800mb of texture memory. However, I've read on the net that there are a lot of similar issues regarding Radeon cards and TS3 not recognizing the GPU memory. The workaround I posted is one that other people are already using, so yeah I didn't create it I just repeated it. Your card is already identified by the game, meaning it is "supported," so it is really sad that EA hasn't create a fix for this yet.

Ah, well at least I have that going for me then... lol, also... EA sucks.

No, having 8 cores is great! Except I cannot think of any application at the moment which will use 8 cores. The problem is that TS3 is designed to use at most 2 cores for threading. At the time with the latest EP, quad core already existed so though not utilized, it is aware of it. So having 8 cores, I don't know how Sims 3 would handle it. It might have problems or it might not, couldn't tell.

This is the first time I've ever seen a Win 8 task manager, so.. can't really help you there.

Ah, well that's okay, you have already helped me out immensely. I have successfully (:D) saved once, though I didn't really do anything "big" in game. I'm going to go into CAS, change some stuff, build a little room and have my sim do some work jobs to see if that will crash it since that's normally what I do. I'm hoping this is a good sign though since it actually saved pretty fast considering it's normal save time.

No error code, just "The sims 3 has stopped working" or something along those lines

Yeah, just do as much as you can, go to cas, go to build mode, go vacationing, etc... abuse the game and then save. We are trying to make it crash.

Just tried saving after some normal activity, didn't crash the first time, just gave me error code 12 (first time I've seen it) then crashed -__-

No, in a clean game am I removing all mods, starting a new EA hood and playing with a new created family or... just moving mods is sufficient?
I feel like we are getting closer to a fix
