Default Awful-Sounding Punny Names
While looking up Canadian propaganda posters for my latest work (Linkadinks in signature if you want to read from the start), I found this:

Bearing in mind, this was the 1950's, so this was all the rage in North America (and probably Europe), but Bea Alert and Justin Case ? Wha-why?

Then there's Ann and Dale of a local part of my hometown, Anandale Road or something? Can't remember, but kids made it, so wahey.

Share yours, here, I nearly cringed.

I don't know about "awful", but there was one kids' show I remembe that was 100% made of puns: Between the Lions. Just look at the title.

The main characters were lions (who ran a library), and all their names were variants of "lion". Leo, Leon, Leona, and so on. Then there were the supporting characters:

Click the mouse.

Spud, the hard-broiled detective.

Cliff Hanger. (Hanging from a cliff! And that's why he's called Cliff Hanger! <His theme song)

And a number of others that I probably can't remember.

There was also the time a client wanted to change the name of his robots to BEA, with an alphanumeric call sign (like A5) for individuals. I tried to make sure the most badass one was named BEA R4, because Bea Arthur was badass. Unfortunately, he didn't go for it.

Is this the time to mention Cesar's great friend in Rome called Biggus Dickus and his wife Incontinentia Buttocks? Or a Roman soldier called Nautius Maximus?

Aaron: azakly. So I like FIRST names that could pass for REAL first names (Lincoln) but last names that make them...something else. SO who's got MOOR?

Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

I've seen a Soup legacy before where all their names were, um, types of soup

Along with Justin Case there's also Justin Time

And I once had a Sim named Candy Kane

Holden McCrotch is literally my favourite 'punny name' ever. Back in the days of Ray William Johnson's Equals 3, me and my friend got our comment on there (the question was like "whats the worst name?") and we used Holden McCrotch.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there was a teacher at my college called 'Jenna Taylor'. While on a school trip, the science teacher was talking and he mentioned "everyone line up behind genitalia" - I laughed so hard.

Oh hell, if we're gonna go that route:

I. M. Atossa
Mark F. Read (Mark Forum Read)
Mike Hunt
Mike Huntiches
Mike Hootersmelz
Mike Litoris

Hugh Jainis
Pete Erlicher

Art Hurd
Sharon Dix
Sharon Cox
Anita Dildeaux
Harry Balze
Benoit Balze

IMO, these would all make excellent names for Sim family matriarchs and patriarchs.

I once knew a guy who was actually named Joseph Schmuck, right here in the US. And he was one too.
Schmuck is a German word meaning jewelry and is not a totally uncommon German surname.

Here's another German one:

Oh, man, I remember that, Hugbug. I mentioned it to one of my classmates in Kindergarten once, and they had no idea what I was talking about, because none of them watched PBS. They concluded I was talking about some weird sci-fi show.

I haven't encountered any particularly atrocious ones in real life, but my mom is an amateur author, and when she needed help with a character name once, I suggested "Leslie Moorley".

Wasn't there a historical figure called Ima Hogg?

Only ones I can think of are Simpsons. Bart's calls to Moe's Tavern. Haven't watched it in decades, but I remember Seymour Butts, I.P. Freely, Amanda Huggenkiss, Ivana Tinkle.

OT: That Lincoln Continental looks like a 2dr version of the big gold Lincoln Town Car my stepdad used to own. In fact, it was completely identical to this one. http://www.mjcclassiccars.com/1978-...liamsburg.shtml
He let me borrow it a few times. That beast was a blast to drive.

My friend told me today that her friend's step-Mum is called 'Supaporn'. Apparently it's a normal name, not sure where though.
