I'm not sure if this is a bug or a corrupted file or what, but I don't think this has already been mentioned so here goes...I've gotten the blank icons, red/green memories bug twice now...the first time I fixed it by reinstalling, but I had this problem when I tried to install university...it would get to 35%, saying installing TSData\Res\Sound\Jazz.package- and then it would say there had been an error and would I like to retry copying the file-which never watched. Finally, mind numbingly depressed, I shut down the computer and went and watched TV. A few hours later, feeling slightly more hopeful, I tried to install university again, and lo and behold! it worked. I'll mention that I neglected to restart my computer at all during the first part of this process.

That was about a month ago, fast forward to ealier last night, I'm happily playing away, when, WOW!!! suddenly all my sims' memories and job icons were blank again. So, I uninstalled the bloody game, restarted the computer, and successfully installed TheSims2. I don't remember if I restarted or not after that (I'm too pissed to think clearly) but, yes folks, university got stuck again at 35%. I've tried restarting the computer, I've tried cleaning the cd, I've tried turning the computer off and leaving it, I cleaned the computers disk, I've yelled at it, cried at it, and somehow managed to restrain from throwing every single one of my maxis games across the room. I don't know what to do, and I don't know why it's doing this. I don't even know if it's a bug or not, but it sure as heck wouldn't surprise me if it was, this game is loaded with them.

Anyhow, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Oh, and the first time I installed university, it installed beautifully...no problems at all, it's only this reinstalling that's been a problem. Also, I've patched the original game with both patches. Please, please...someone help me...I'm so sad

It might be a good idea to call Tech Support. They are very helpful.

Tel: 650-628-4329 (US number)

Sorry not to be of more help. I've had countless problems with installation too...it is so frustrating!!! Hopefully these guys can help you.

Good luck,

First of all, when you reinstall don't use the Maxis patch. Let "University" patch it for you instead! See how it does. I feel for you...I've had more problems with University than any other game I've ever had.

Edit: Queenshy, when I put new memory in my computer the game wouldn't install. My computer recognized it fine and all programs worked perfectly and FAST! hehe Until I went to play Sims 2, that is. At least on my computer, I discovered that I can't have two different sizes of RAM ... example, all RAM needs to be 256 or 512, not a mix of them. So have you installed new memory different in size than you were using?
