Default Hardcore Challenge
You start the challenge by playing a new game in a new neighborhood that is completely new: no residential lots, no community lots, no decoration-- nothing. You then go to CAS and create a new sim that will be the founder/initial of this challenge. Assign any aspiration you want for that sim, though I would recommand to pick one randomly through the help of a dice (for a virtual die - https://www.random.org/dice/).

Now after that is done, establish a sim with an empty residential lot that (s)he will be living in for the rest of the life. (And when I mean for the rest of the life, I do mean you won’t be allowed to move that exact sim out of the lot and into a new neighborhood in any way). From there, all of the objects in the game are ‘locked’ and therefor you cannot buy them from buy mode, except for a table telephone and a end table which only would serve the purpose of holding the telephone and nothing else (thought, I would prefer, if possible for you, to use the moveobjects cheat and place the wall phone on thin air without buying the end table). Build mode features also are locked, except for the terrain paint and terrain tools, for just in case you find the default given terrain unappealing to your eyes.

After everything is set up accordingly to your satisfaction, you’re now ready to start playing the game by switching to live mode. Since you’re sims is pretty much a hobo now, you’re first task is to get your founder a job and go there when it’s time, in which in return you get to unlock the cheapest fullsize fridge (Wornable or EchoCool). Start looking for your sim a job by interacting with the newspaper. You can only pick one of the three jobs that the newspaper provides you for hiring at the time; meaning that you just can’t wait for a day or two just to get odds right of having the option to choose the specific job you wanted to apply to your sim.

You may find it horrific or have pleasure (if you’re into sadistic gameplay) of by observing after noticing the struggle that your founder is facing, aka. suffering from the basic needs depletes (passing out by exhaution, become stressed out by deprived comfort, pee over ect.) due to the lack of objects that would support to satisfy them. That’s the all point of the challenge at the start of it, but in the next generation (if you manage to play this correctly) your heirs won’t be in the same situation that the founder had to struggle at the beginning of his/her life.

Outsider
Now, in this challenge you can create one sim that is classified as an “outsider” of this challenge. Outsider sims are those who barely participate in this challenge, as they aren’t restricted by any methods of these challenge, and because of that all of the build&buy modes are unlocked for them when played in their household. With each 1000 aspiration points the founder gains, you earn the ability to create one outsider in CAS.

Outsiders unlock certain aspects of the challenge for your founder and heirs, as their role of the game is to purchase a real estate lot and/or apply in a career, which determines what gets unlocked based of the circumstances of the two given actions.

For cautioned clarifcation once more: anyone that moves in (a towny), gets procreated, adopted, crafted (servo) to the outsider’s household doesn’t benefit in any way like how outsider sims do, to the founder/heirs. Just for your sake to be safe than to feel sorry about it later on: leave the outsider’s normal sim family members without a job and keep them together without anyone moving out from the house until they all die or get taken away. That way, you won’t get confused who is an outsider and who isn’t, by just looking at their job stats and that the normal one’s won’t get scattered away to mislead you them as an outsider.

And I almost forgot-- You can NOT merge the outsider with a founder/heir to live in the same household, for the obvious reasons said below.
====================================================================================================================================

Once you have build a house, or place a pre-existing residential lot from a bin (I suggest you place far away as possible from the founder’s/heir’s and closer to a road that is near the curved ending) or just move them in an available one, you can apply any job you like for him/her and buy a real estate (you can even use the motherlode cheat to be able to afford them). Only one lot can be owned per outsider. When starting with the first three, you’re most likely would want to have three community lot lounges set up to allow the founder to visit each one for the purpose to fulfill (the available-provided) fun and comfort; bladder and enviroment; social, hunger and higiene.

Just to make it more difficult and prolong the duration of the challenge, you aren’t allowed to place more than three different need fulfilling objects in there. Otherwise, if you wouldn’t be fun if you just plot down all the objects that fulfill all 8 needs in one lot, having your sim to go there everytime.

Down below is the list of how each object can be unlocked by how the lot has to be set up. A note for fellow players who don’t have Open For Business expansion pack installed ~ While you don’t have the option on the phone&computer to open a real estate, you still have to create a outsider and give him a home to live in just to be able to create a new community lot-- and you aren’t require to the business-y things related to that EP, just do the same by setting the lot with the respective objects. Note that all the type (from the very cheap to expensive variation) of objects must be used and you can’t make more than 3 type of shops in one lot.

  • Maid service is unlocked once when at least one outsider masters cleaning skill.
  • Repairman service is unlocked once when at least one outsider masters mechanical skill.
  • Pet adoption service is unlocked once when at pet shop (where dog and cat can be sold) is classified.

The GOAL of the Challenge:[b] unlock all the objects and have your last generation of heir adults to complete their LTW.
