Technical Issues - My Carpool Wont Come!

BMWsRock82 Original Poster Lab Assistant Join Date: Apr 2005 Posts: 62 Thanks: 772 in 8 Posts 5 Achievements	Just a couple minutes ago, my carpool didnt come! I got promoted, then went to bed, got up the next morning, and the carpool didnt come. It said that I was scheduled to work that day. So I waited, and it said that I had missed work today. So I waited until the next day, and the same thing happened, and I dont know what to do. Can someone please help me? And I have another question. Is everything in the Downloads folder OK to delete? Or are some of the files in there needed? Because I'm thinking of deleting everything from my downloads folder.

Had her change jobs - still no car pool. But, it still shows up for hubby. At first, I thought maybe she was doing something because she didn't want to leave kids. Oh yeah, when she didn't go to work on day 1 I has her call in, but work still called. Day 2 I tried to call into work & only option was to quit. Thanks for any help, helayn

well, is there anything in the download folder that is needed that will screw up the game if it gets deleted or is it all safe to delete? cuz i'm thinkin about getting rid of all the downloaded items.

CynicalChick Deviant Savant Join Date: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,228 Thanks: 6318 in 60 Posts 20 Achievements	Downloads are just "extras", custom recolors and items that have been added. The Clean Installer might help you track down files know to cause problems such as non-EP ready careers.

Remember to exit without saving, so you downloads don't revert back to maxis. If the game works, then you have a problem in your downloads folder. You can run Clean Installer on you downloads and remove hacks and duplicates. Looking under type, you can find careers. I have read that an older version of the phone hack and some downloaded cars can cause this. All of this stuff you can get in downloaded houses. The link to Clean Installer is on the home page here. thanks, i'll try that, and i know its not the lot cuz it happens on all lots. the funny thing is though that its only on certain careers.

Don't use it again! hehe! Its family resetting time!! Go into the house, put your move objects on cheat, pick up EVERY member of the family and delete them like you do furniture etc. Don't worry, they will be ok! Now SAVE and exit to the neighbourhood. Go back in and hopefully you don't have the problem again. If you do, you'll probably have to chunk the house.

Did you download any custom cars? Another problem is that some of the default carpool vehicles apparently get overwritten when this happens. I downloaded a lot that had a custom car on it and it wiped out my sedan. I noticed my carpool wasn't coming for certain sims and tracked down the problem. Then, to fix it I had to edit every single career! Not fun. I tried re-installing just the original sims object package but that didn't fix it. I just have to live without the sedan :werd:

I was thinking about starting all over before I finally decided to remove all the cars and car collections I could find AND two files by wintermuteai1. They are as follows: wintermuteai1Comp wintermuteai1UltimateHackedMyshunocubenojoin I'm not sure what the Comp is supposed to do(shame on me) but I wonder if the teleporting cube could have anything to do with it. I mean a sim must be ever available for transport, I guess, and wouldn't really be able to go to work, right? Just a hunch because I am by no means an expert on any of this. I'm just like a kid in a candy store with this site and I appreciate you all. Thanks!!

lizzymcfizzy Test Subject Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 52	I had the same issue, you may find you also cannot call anyone for service or another sim. I deleted the phone hack and it fixed it. Something you might want to try if you have backup of your game, is to replace the current lot with the older backed-up lot before the problem started.
