I have had a few problems with my game that have really made my gameplay suffer. I need help! I do not want to start over with my 'hoods, I love my sims. I have deleted several unwanted sims (repair man- I had over a hundred!) and reinstalled.

1- The first issue is with final exams. I have tried the fixes and they don't work. The very first fix that came out did but for some reason now it won't work and I have installed the college adjuster phonebooks which help me to advance them through school but it frankly kind of sucks. The can't write a term paper more than once through school and I have to guess a gpa from their progress meter. I have wondered if perhaps I have some hacks that conflict?? I will list my hacks here in another post.

2- I have the dreaded jump bug. I tried installing the old chat/party fix but it isn't cutting it. I have tried bringing my neighborhood sims total number to well under 500. Nothing is working. They jump when trying to hang out, study together, sit down to eat if anyone else is in room and always when they sit on the couch to eat. They can sit and watch tv together. Do I have a corrupt chair? I mean, I can't think of why this continues. It really, really sucks.

3- Bodyshop isn't running although I have had no issues in my game. I haven't worked in CAS in a while, though so it may be that it hasn't loaded. Is there a way to run a program and find it? SimPE lists a lot of problem files, some without base mesh. Sims2pack Clean Installer finds no pink files or other issues.

Any suggestions on these? I would sooo appreciate the help. Thanks! :confused:

All of your issues can be attributed to a bad .package file inside your downloads directory, Clean Installer may not find pink files, but check for "Empty Packages" "Careers" and other possible hacks.

folder ever so often from a copy of one that was working.

Frumph, could you be a little more specific? I hace checked for career files in Hack scanner and I don't have any. I delete those; I don't keep any in my game. Empty packages do show up in pink using Clean Installer as do duplicates so I have no problem there. I have some hacks which I like but would delete if I thought it would help. I tried running game with all of them disabled once and it didn't help. If there is something else, let me know and I'll try it or if you disagree with anything I have said.

IluvSimsxp, that's a good idea. It has been a long time since I have had a "good" downloads folder but when I fix this I think I will start backing up regularly.

Have you tried Scanning your downloads folder using SimPE to be certain everything you have is EP Compatible?

"Empty Package" is actually labelled "Empty Package"in the type column in Clean Installer.. once you run Clean Installer click the word "type" so that it organizes it by .. the type, than scroll down until you / if you see any packages that are literally labelled "Empty Packages"

If you just disabled all your hacks doesnt mean that they're not still stored on the lot/character as events, just because you got rid of the what could be the problem doesnt mean what got corrupted on the lot isnt still there..

There are probably upgrades to each of those hacks that you have mentioned. I know Insimenator is now up to a (UV) edition

If you plan on getting Nightlife you'll probably have to get rid of those hacks anyways.

Anyways, my suggestion would to remove all those hacks, .. get Pescado's lot debugger, run the game, moveobjects on, delete each of the characters while in-game on the lot, save the lot, go back into the lot each of the sims will be respawned without their event handles they previously had. Save that lot, use pescado's lot debugger and do a couple of the functions it has on it to clean the lot, .. re-enter the lot and check things out.

Btw, how exactly did you delete the NPC's? ... There's some step your missing telling about here.. Like did you 'restore' a backup of your neighborhood, and what not, and how you did it..

I am going to try your suggestion..... downloaded dubugger and will let you know after I complete the steps.

I deleted NPC repairmen/women that were spawned when one was stuck apparently. I deleted extras with no connections in the 'hood, it was shocking how many were there. I restored my Sims 2 folder after reinstalling once if that's what you mean. I thought I may have had missing files so I ran the game to restore folders then I did a copy/paste. I had these problems a long time ago, though before I did a reinstall.

I appreciate your help and I'll post again after I try some things and let you know how it goes. Btw, I have object recolors with no base mesh found (in SimPE scan folders) is that stuff safe to delete?

i wouldnt delete the object recolors with no base mesh, I would move them to another directory (out of your my documents folder) so they wont get loaded but still around if you want them, if you dont want them than go ahead and delete em

Well, I was up late working on this. I have sooo many families. I have these problems in all my neighborhoods. I tried Pescado's tool on all my lots individually in one neighborhood. I had different problems on each lot: stuck kicky bags, stuck mail, head master issues but nothing seems to be fixed so far and it is a lot of work. I disabled and deleted or removed all of my hacks and still have had no success. Can you tell me what I am looking at here? I did have something about loiterers on the lot but I don't think that alone will fix my jumping problem.
I would rather try something else if you have ideas but I will still run the lot debugger in the meantime. Thanks again.

You were so right. It was a hack. It didn't show up in any scans or anything. It was something I knew could casue issues and I had planned to remove it - overstuffedhack .... Thanks guys, you are the greatest. Unfortunately I have another issue now...
