Default 4 Modules of basement garages + Tutorial
Answering a request (PM) I want offer a tutorial with pictures how to make basement garages by yourself.
It is in Wordformat because I guess it should be the easiest way someone could edit it for the personal use.
As I don't like to do always the same steps starting to build a house and do the puzzle to find the right hight of the basement I made the attached samples for my own use. Maybe others would use them too as starting point for new buildings. Much fun and success.

Thank you, I may never build my own basement garage right (I seem to be rubbish at building anything complex) so I'll have lots of use for your samples!

Great work, hexameter. I am assuming that this works even after the Nightlife patch is applied. I have heard that that patch kills the ability to make a basement garage. (if what you mean by basement garage is one where the driveway slopes downward to the basement door)

Thank you very much!

I'm sure all of you could find out these few easy tips. Thank you for the kind comments!
The driveway of this kind was tested in a fresh install of all 3 Sims 2 gameparts, the nl-patch and without any downloads. (last time some minutes ago)
Of course the movements of the cars are not accommodated to the angle of the driveway, but who cares. It works!
Those of you who want another pavement in the driveway or the garage should try to use the invisible driveway which can be found on this site. Put the floortiles in with moveObjects on, then use the driveway. Test it.
Have fun with your sims

A nice person from SimFamilyTherapy sent me here for these and I am so glad! No matter how manytimes I read the directions I can never remember how to do these things. Nice to just download and build on. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

Invisible driveway? [thinking about grass-colored or mud-looking tiles] That means my Trailer Trash Sims could park in the back yard. Thanks.

a basement garage is perfect shame i cant do this to save my life (even with your tutorial) i would be well grateful if you could do a double garage on a large plot rather than a 3x3. thank you.

Default A Very Simple But Effective "Underground" Garage
Hi folks,

I threw this together but I think it adresses most of the issues relating to garages and foundations. No cheats whatsoever are needed to make this work, though moveobjects is described to reposition the mailbox/trashcan.

Like I said. I've thrown it together but if the powers that be here feel that it is worthwhile I will redo the whole thing and optimise it for smallest file size (and make a .doc version as well.

The zip contains an html file plus a folder of images

Please let me have opinions good, bad or indifferent cos, I have yet to see this technique describe in any other tutorial ...

mirelly,

This is really a very neat tutorial. Smart uses on the default walls and the wall-foundation.
Is it good to start another new tutorial thread for this tutorial at build mode? Then, just wait for a moderator to move it into this sub-forum...

(After hexameter's following post...)

Lol, I just tried to link similar topics or techniques together to make them easily found. A forum is good for posting modularly, but the infos will get scattered/separate. All I'm trying to do is to link and categorise them back together in my own terms. Errors can occur due to my biases, so I can be misleading sometimes. Trust me, I've been in some cases, it takes a lot of wandering and fooling around just to grab certain pieces of interesting infos I need. Different people express differently with diferent words or phrases, linking them together will also make people aware of what terms they may see.. Making the linkage is for the convinience of other readers as well as myself.

As the amount of tutorials has increased into a long list, I may categorise them more to see if it works or fits.

I didn't see this thread for a long time. I'm surprised, Niol, you seem to develop it to a place for special building questions. Good Idea, thank you to use this thread for your links to the other tutorials and hints.

Thanks for the feedback. I have improved the thing recently but have yet to get around to producing the photos, suitably optimised for a niftier downloading experience ... we all have to pay for bandwidth, don't we? And just cos many of us have mulit-gigabit DSL doesn't mean that a clear 1MB d'l isn't better than 2.4MB one. I have never given much credence to the bigger is better philosophy.

Hi everybody.

First of all thank you 4 that nice tutorial!

I followed every step of this but after finishing my garage, the driveway still "Flyes" over the downway.

After getting a little bit frustratet cause i didnt find a solution for that, i allmost give in. But i finaly found out, that by selling the driveways and then click on UNDO, the driveway will be shown corect. So if annyone else got that problem, maby that will be a solution.

greetings from berlin (Germany)
