View Full Version : Object Placement Height on Tables..?!

Me again...

I've cloned a dining table but my new table is counter height...So when I place things on top of the table they're still at table height not counter height...

So I had a nosey around the forum and found the info regarding the cres file...
I changed the Z value to 1.00000 (as I read that 1 is 1 tile height) but when I went into the game my table was floating up high in the air, like it had changed the height of the table, not the "object placement height" when I changed the value back to zero it was back on the ground...

Have I got the wrong end of the stick...How do I change the height of object placement for a table to make it counter height instead...

lol, sounds like it would look rather funny :)
simple error, you changed the actual placement height of the entire table ,what you need to do is change the slot heights in the CRES

ahhh...oki's I'll go test that, thanks for answering! :D

Oo, one question...is it just the slot ending with std or all of them (ending with "eat") as there's loads of ones beginning with "slot"

Well that depends, if you want the sim's plates to be at the height of the table, then yes. But I don't really find it very good to use the plate at a different height than the planned animations, because while the food will be on the mesh, the sim will be eating from below it. I found the best way to make a table with a different height without worrying about food, is to clone a coffee table instead. Even though things that are only placeable on tables cant be placed on it, it is easily changed. :) But for now, if you do want the sim to eat on it (taking note that it will look weird), you adjust all. :)

Another thing that might help is to clone a counter-island for the table - that way everything, including eating is already at the right level.

I tried cloning counters but there was loads of meshes, didn't know which ones to keep..then the texture wouldn't show up, so I gave up and cloned a table, lol.

yeah, there are several meshes in the counter files, also- Sims can only sit and eat on one side.
