Ok, it's a bit complicated. But I'll try to describe as much as i can.

I got a personal project.

A number of neighborhoods with the same people in all of them, but a generation later. Let say i got one neighborhood with family in it at one set time. In neighbor number 2, i would like the same people, but 10years later. Meaning if there is a baby in neighborhood 1, i would have a child in neighborhood 2 with the same genetics. Same with child in N1 being a teen in N2, etc. Adult would stay the same.

Instead of trying to create new sims in CAS from scratch and hoping they would look the same in both neighborhood, which will take too long to do. why not take on sims in N1 copy it, make it grow to next age group (with actually playing the game) and move them to N2?

.......................................
ea of neighborhood:

N1:
John (adult)
Mary (adult)
Jane (child)
Mike (baby)

N2:
John (adult)
Mary (adult)
Jane (teen)
Mike (child)
Bob (baby)

N3:
John (adult)
Mary (adult)
Mike (teen)
Bob (child)

Jane (adult) out of the house and married to a neighbor.

....................

Then i could just copy the genetics in CAS and create any additional family members that was even born in the previous Neighborhood.

Please read this article. Moving Sims between neighborhoods can basically implode the new neighborhood unless they are prepped correctly before moving them.

wow that's complicated, though i don't really want to move them, just copy them so i can still play each neighborhood when i feel like.

You're still going to end up with the issue of duplicate sim files and such. It's probably just going to be a lot easier on you to just play the family in the one neighborhood. But if you really want to duplicate the family, recreating them from BodyShop templates in CAS is much safer. Also, you can give them different personalities and aspirations or make other changes to how you play them instead.

If you have SimPE, you could export a copy of the sim into bodyshop, make them in CAS, and then remake the family. They won't be exactly the same personality-wise, but you could always tweak that too.

That tutorial does go over just exporting their appearances to remake them. ;)
