View Full Version : Moving Animation Pivot Point - Objects

Is it possible to move the pivot point of an animating part of an object, specifically in this instance I want to move the point where a fridge door opens, its turning around a point about 1/4 of the way in towards the middle of the door. I could trash my design to take this into account but it seems something of a shame as it would put more messy seams into the thing and shrinking it to the right proportions makes it look a bit bleugh because it doesn't fill up the gap between the counters very well.

Hopefully the picture explains what I'm trying to say! If there is a method for this I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or post that gives a bit more detail on this! Thanks

There is some detailed information included in this tutorial:

The rest of the tutorial is about making an animation, you don;t need to make a new one, just use the existing ones. Basically, you need to move the joint in both the GMDC and the CRES. Only when their locations match will the object display properly and the animation still work.

Thank you very much Wes, I had hoped this was covered somewhere! Sadly the search function times out on me so if I don't find it by looking myself I tend to miss these things! I shall go and check it out :)
