Pet Bird Uses Sim as a Cage

After a few days of twinking with the mesh to show up in my game I finally got my dino-bird to appear. My mesh came into the game with no alterations to the original bird color. Everything seem fine when my sims went to stock the cage. My pet hoped onto the cage bar but then instead of staying in the cage it stayed attached to the sim. My pet started using my sim as the bird cage. It would move from left to right of the sim, eat food, and bob around. The only thing the bird didn't do was to leave and fly around outside. Whats odd is that when I placed a 3rd cage to be restocked my sim would lose their current bird and take on the newly placed bird. There couldn't be more birds on the lot than sim host. :| I have all of my GUIDS in the right place with the bird cage and bird mesh. I don't know what to do.

Well I got my bird to finally sit in the cage after tons of trial and error. There is another problem now. My dino bird won't leave the cage to fly around even with the door open. I really don't know what else to do. I've looked at 2-3 other downloads for reference and scanned for tutorials (none with this problem) and I am at a loss. The file is attached below. (I refuse to work on the cage mesh or the bird any further till this problem is solved).
