Wow, these are beautiful hoods! I get lots of inspiration from this thread.... Angel, I love the way you have the trees on the side of the mountain, you've clumped them together very realistically! Babbel, the Sims 1 hood is progressing very well... nice! Coltraz, Blue Rock is lovely- I like the way the buildings reflect in the water. Romy, you've been doing some epic building there! Are all of the lots built by you, or do you download some of them? Babolat, the Uni is looking very busy! I like those tall buildings you've made. The college hoods always seem to be the ones I have most trouble with- this is inspiring me though, haha (*Steals lots of ideas and runs away*)!

So in the old N'hood post I posted this city as a downtown to Pleasantview. Unfortunately it kept crashing on me. So I deleted all my Sims, and re-installed the game. So here it is, Metro-Arbor , the city I deleted four years of sims for. It still needs work, but we're making strides.

Welcome to Rockport!
part of a chain of islands thgat make up ther Twikki Island Archapelago, Rockport, in its essence, is only about 50 years old, but the inhabitants have been living here for hundreds of years. The local goverment decided this whould be a great tourist opportunity, so they rezoned most of the island and named it Rockport. Tourists can hop on a gondala and take a ride over to the islands and visit the local native inhabitants....or take a hot air balloon ride or hang glider and catch a ariel view of the waterfall. But the enviormentalists and natives do not approve of the rapid industrialization in this lush and tropical island.

Now i want to show off my current hood. I've found a lot of great japan lots by Masaharu777 on MTS2 so this neighborhood is totally created with these lots, so it has a kind of eastern feeling. Also most of the female sims living here are twi'leks huh so it's kinda fictional thing :)

To Paradise, lmfjaxxon: Well, this terrain was terraformed ingame (freetime option - great stuff!) so, not sure that sc4 file does have those sand breakwaters... I could upload the hood with decorations maybe... should i? :)
By the way, i'm experimenting with creating my own CC, i have alot of ideas for custom hood decos - first one - those piers ( pics below) and some kind of marina stuff, so i hope i'll able to upload it on MTS2 soon..

Babolat, Saint Grenadine looks like a peaceful place to live (is it a neighbourhood or vacation area?), It must take you ages to place all those trees, and I wish I could make towns like yours, mine turn out strange with all these box houses everywhere!

Medieval village: Tinn. I want to change the chapel/church, though, and am testing the street texture. But you can see the farmers cottages in the front and the more upper-classes houses some more in the back. Up the hill is the Earl's manor. :)

I decided to make a new, smaller neighbourhood. It's a seaside town with bright coloured houses, think Tobermory crossed with Cuba lol! Here it is Western Harbour:

They are actually a row of shops built on a 4x2 lot, there are no houses in those pictures just shops and deco shops.

Babbelsim, thank you :) I can't wait to finish the ferry too :D Almost done by the way :)
Elwood, your pier looks great with that plane! I've also downloaded it but for me it's little too big :)
Wildchild, actually, there is a tutorial of how to create a custom content for your hoods. At MTS2 creative forums. But first you'll need to learn how to make a table huh ;) seriously... that's a main tutorial about creating CC for S2. I also not very sure about the way i'm doing it. Even if my stuff does not cause any problems and errors with a game... so i'm not a pro for writing a tutorial :D

Night Racer, no no! This plane isn't mine :D It's by Crocobaura on MTS2, try to search 'plane' in the downloads section :) Oh, and i'll think about cruise ship port, or may be just a ship, cruise ship maybee :)
Ebbe, thanks! It's still in quewe by the way.. oh :(

Is it me or is everyone's neighborhoods WAY better than mine.
no, its just you matey.
i think we all look at other peoples hoods and go "ooh, i should do something like that" or "now why can't i do that?"

slightly off topic:
does anyone know anything about the hood deco thats coming with apartment life (apart from the bella goth statue) cause i'm really getting an apetite for it now. :)
the most crucial thing needed - in my eyes - is standard shops and buildings.
you know the type, that could slip in unnoticed in a downtown or shopping district.

also, criquette: how easy, in laymans terms, is it to make hood deco? can you link me to the tutorial mentioned please? cheers.

Tizerist, whell, it depends on your 3d modeling skills first of all. Next is texturing (sometimes it takes longer that modeling) after all, you must know what is SimPE and how to use it. Here's some shots of Manhattenton. I kinda wish I hadn't picked such a large terrain. Some days it feels like I'm never going to fill it. I'm playing a legacy in it, though, so I've got a few generations in which to build the place up.

The "main" populated area.

Far left is the ferry and settlement office, and then a couple of houses.

Directly behind the main legacy house, I just loved how the birds were in this shot.

Wohoo! Great pics guys! :D
Quincitia, oh, so peaceful place you have :)

Oh, and that's everyone again guys! Your kind words make me want to do all this stuff ;)
And.. some good news ;) Motorway is in a moderation queve at MTS2 now. Don't know how long it will take (have no idea how moderators can manage all this stuff!) so, untill it will be released, you can find a prerelease by clicking this link (http://www.grape-frogg.com/crqtt_motorway_set.zip) ;)

So, have fun! :D
Oh, and i've forgot to say that road/dirtroad pieces, roundabout and some another road stuff is not included in motorway set. I'll make a standalone road set with all this stuff;)

So, anyway, here is a last pic with another motorway stuff - pedestrian overpass :)

It's about road pieces set that was separated from the motorway set.
With paved road, dirt road and walkway deco pieces, you'll able to make stuff like this:

lovely area nissun. it reminds me of spain. thats a good thing.

about the motorways, they require a bit more thought and space than normal deco's, so i think i will have to build a sub-hood specifically for them, with no houses, just roads. anyone know where theres a 'blank' hood for DL?

Nissun Awesome.

But enough of the delayed replies...

*sigh* A combination of AL and being in and out of hospital for the past week caused me to do something stupid with Denali River. I think there were too many trees or something. Anyway, I decided, rather than move everything to a new neighbourhood, I would HoodReplace the main neighbourhood, keeping everything else. Almost worked too, until I stupidly deleted most of the Community Lots in the lot bin, D'oh.

Anyway, the "new" Denali River, which is really just the next city tile upstream in SC4.

So sorry to hear you've been ill, Its a thing that can affect us all and its terrible to get *Hugaz* :)

and...

Don't feel that Way Babo! :tooth:
I've just done something stupid too, One of my Hoods (Can't remember the name) Was my Terrain Bebeh, and after awhile (with about, what, 20 Sims in?) It got terribly boring, so I moved on. Since then, I've deleted files upon files of BS content, and changed things galore so the hood (Apart from looking Pleasing to the Eye in Pictures) looks like Crap :)
So what I have done is... Taken all of the Houses I made (I made LOADS of unfurnished Houses to make Estates etc.) and Binned them - Added them to the Bins :) - for a New hood! The Lots look so much better in this new layout (REALLY better) and the Terrain I made fits it Perfectly!
I've been Decorating like Mad with it (I have what.. One sim in it so far?!) and Its going to be done up to the standard of my other Hood (Creasent Accent) and as its bigger - Will be more Prittyful too :)
Can't WAIT to put in some Alleyways!

Heh, thanks. :)

As for restarting stuff, I know what you mean. That's why I did a Hood Replacement, that way I still have my families, so it seems to be working without a big ol' fireball (so far).

It was a little odd that I placed some of the lots in the hood and then it crashed for some reason. When I went back into the game, they had disappeared into another dimension. But there was only a few buildings from there I actually wanted, and I can rebuild those when I get the time, in the meantime there's more space for building and decorations now that some (read: all) of my "filler" houses have gone off to the blackhole.

Oh well, silly me for not being me usual anal self and forgetting to make a backup of the hood before installing AL. I didn't really want to go back to my pre-IKEA backup, because seeing dead people isn't my forte :P

lol

When Building the Hood, I made a House, and then copied it along a Road - I do it a large amount - But some of these houses were really individual (Like the House I build for the End lot that was like the others, Just being smaller and had less features) and Unique (A big Glass house I made to convert to a Community Lot) so I had to save them :) But the Sims I could Really Live without. They were Glitchy after the BS & Eye Purge I did and they were boringly Simple Faces and Characters.. Plus I needed a New hood to Decorate

Now it features Apartments, the Café I made, Some Houses estates and Fancy Beaches! I think I've done well :P The Freetime Cheat helps so much though - Don't'cha Think? Roads are now Much MUCH more Realistic for me :)

Now, Off to Witch-i-fy my Sims :)

Criquette... I just have one question. Are the views from the lots as amazing and realistic as the panoramics? I'd love to play a neighbourhood like that! If only the maxis defaults had that quality!

It's beautiful, seriously. And did you make the horizon blurry to add depth? Because it works! I read a tutorial on how to make some aerial pictures look like scale models, it was a similar trick.

I think it would be fantastic.

Well, Viper Canyon. One of the default maps. Lush, but it looked as desolate as if was a plain desert map. So I made some farms and small forests in the top sides of the canyon.

I think Goldsimmer is achieving that look using Crittque's hood objects along with the cheat 'boolprop displayNeighborhoodRoads false' - the houses are attached to the Maxis roads but aren't seen, and then she/he has decorated the hood with the decorative roads to make it appear like it does.

The possibilities of this road set is astounding...this set could effectively free simmers from needing to use SC4 to create hoods at all. Because one terrain with roads crisscrossed all trhough, so basically houses can be put almost anywhere in any 90 degree direction, then turn off the display of the roads, place Criquette's roads where you like, more or less and place houses as you like. As long as the house lines up with the invisible maxis road, and since so many roads are placed, there is always a road to line the house up to...well! Freedom!

You will also need Sara Kirk's place hood deco anywhere mod at MATY.

This has real amazing potential to create awesome hoods!

TingTong
3rd Sep 2008, 07:42 PM
hmmm but wouldn't putting that cheat in the user startup cheat file disable all roads on ALL neighbourhoods.....so to get that look you'd have to type it in everytime.

~ParkerSims~
3rd Sep 2008, 07:49 PM
Yes, so one would have to be interested in having all their hoods use these road deco pieces. One could put this in the userstartup cheat.

It may not be a perfect solution, but the very thought of the possibilities...

...hhmm...well i havnt looked at the set yet...i have it but havnt looked at it...but arnt there road peices? not highway but road? so you can put it in the start up cheat and then lay down the road peices on top of the original roads for hoods you dont want to change...omg...

Hey, creative pics here everyone! And nice discussion too. Weird thing about hood decos at TSR is that most of all, they are pay content. Really can't get the idea of paying for... billboard recolor :D anyway most of all hood decos at TSR are low quality things.. or they are oversized.. or just kinda ugly :D
But let's get back to some fresh pics here ;)
(sorry Babolat, it's not an embankment again!) Its a tram set. A simple tramcar, tramline, and tram loop. All that's left is few corrections on the textures and it will be released. For free, as allways, by the way, lol

They're so pretty Criquette! :) Can't wait to get them, even though I will need to start a new, much bigger neighbourhood to be able to use them properly. Anyway, I noticed that the tram number is upside down in the close-up pic. I think they look like those San Fancisco trams.

Thanks GoldenSimmer, :)

Criquette, you are simply amazing. Those tram's are wonderful, and congrats about getting Apartment Life. EDIT: We'll miss you (or at least I'll miss you, :P) whilst your gone.
Nissun, your neighborhood looks very quaint. A bit like where my cousin's farm is, except much more lush. Love it!

And some more pictures from Fayette, simply because I feel like posting them. :)
They aren't the best, so beware.

Ok stop...Criq why are you so awesome at this? Just when I thought my hood was the bomb you make this. Now I have to re-install SC4 and make a custom hood.

seva13, I love your hood! It looks very peaceful. The rock formation on the hill is really unusual *steals idea*
BR_Fl, what a pretty neighbourhood! There's a lot of detail in there. I'd love to see some street level pics of that, I bet you have some lovely detail in there!
Criquette, thankyou dear! Lovely tram set!
