A New Chapter - Lenny's Story - Part 2 - Chapter 16 - The Final Chapter

At the beginning of this year I took part in auroraspirit's "A New Chapter" Contest.

It was great fun I wanted to continue the story, so i will start by posting the original chapters over the next few days while I am working on the rest of the story.


Introduction

It's my first day at Lakeside Academy today. Am I looking forward to it? What do you think! Mum and Dad are going through a divorce at the moment and I've had to move to this crappy house, in this crappy little town and leave all my friends behind.

It's been really hard on mum, she tries her best, so I try and look happy as we chat over breakfast. I wish we could have stayed in the city but it's just too expensive. I assure mum I'll be okay, I don't know who's more worried about being the new girl, her or me!

Chapter 1

I push open the doors to the school and follow the signs to the Office. The secretary ushers me through to meet the headmaster. I know there's no uniform policy here but I thought the Headmaster might at least wear a suit! Well, if they're all as laid back as him, I think, I think I'll like it here.
"Hello, and welcome to our school Lenny. Please call me James, we don't stand on formality here." I am a bit shocked and just sit there dumbly. "I'm sure you'll fit in just fine here at Lakeside" he continues, "here's your timetable and a map, though I'm sure you won't need it to find your way round our little school. Have a nice day."

It all seems a bit surreal as I walk across the courtyard towards the English Block. The school has only been rebuilt recently after the old one burned down and I have to admit it is pretty nice, as schools go. I glance up and see two boys waiting outside my class giving me appreciative glances! "Wow, they think I'm hot, things just keep getting better and better!" I think.

I walk up to the boys, smiling and am about to introduce myself when I realise they were looking over my shoulder. I turn and see the real object of their affections is our teacher, our very sexy teacher! "Hmm" I think, "I hope they have some male versions of her..." Our teacher introduces herself as Michelle and leads us all into the classroom. "Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" she asks. "Not really" I think, but I stand up in front of everyone and tell them a bit about myself, how embarassing...

I rush for the nearest empty seat, and in my hurry I trip over the feet of one of the boys. "AAAAAAAAArgh!" I scream as I fall. Oh my god, did I really scream? Things are going from bad to worse!

I quickly pick myself and sit on my chair. I can feel my face burning with embarassment as I try to look interested in my text books. I can hear the other students laughing at me. "How did I ever think I was going to like it here?"

Chapter 2

Well, if yesterday was bad, today was worse. It's not what they say, it's what they don't say. Nobody spoke to me at all at school today! I feel like such a loser... If dad didn't have that silly little girlfriend I could stay with him and go to my old school, but there's no way I could live with "her", she's young enough to be my sister! I went straight to my room when I got home, I couldn't even face doing my homework. When mum got home she came and had a chat with me. She's trying so hard to make it work here and I feel bad for wanting to go back to the city.

I got to school early to have a look at the notice boards this morning. I wanted to see what after school clubs they have here, maybe I'll met some friendlier people there, anyway mum's not usually home till five so I'd just be home by myself. I was hoping they might have a drama club but they seems to be mostly sports orientated, I'm definitely not becoming a cheerleader! I think I'll give the Gymnastics Club a try, I haven't done it for a few years but I used to be quite good.

After school has finished I rush over to the gym and get changed. I spot the coach at the far end of the hall and go over to introduce myself. He's very cute and I can feel myself starting to blush. Just then I notice one of the girls from my English class in the corner, she's laughing with some other girls and I can just imagine she's telling them about my fall in class. Please let the ground open and swallow me up now!

I walk over with the Coach, or Adam as he asks me to call him, to watch the boys practising on the vault. I notice that the boy who tripped me up is one of them, aaargh! "Are you okay?" Adam asks. "Fine, fine...." I muttered, did I really groan out loud! As we watch them I realise they are all really good and I start to feel a bit nervous, maybe I'm not up to this....

When they have finished their practise Adam asks me to show them what I can do. I'm a bit nervous but I pick up a ribbon and perform a routine I learned at my old gymastics class. As I perfromed the routine I kept glancing up and noticed Dillon, the boy who tripped me, was watching intently. "He's probably hoping I stuff it up and fall over again" I thought. Thankfully I didn't and Adam was very impressed, "I hope you're going to be a regular here Lenny."

Afterwards in the changing room the girls were all very friendly and chatted away to me, and I began to relax a bit. Maybe things weren't going to be so bad. Outside it was already dark as I waited for mum to come and pick me up. She was late as usual. I saw Dillon walking towards me, "Oh no" I thought, "What does he want."

"Hi Lenny, you were really good in there. And umm... I just wanted to say sorry about tripping you in class the other day." I blushed, "That's okay, it was only my pride that got hurt!" He laughed and we chatted until my mum arrived to pick me up. As we drove away I realised that Dillon was cute, very, very cute!

Chapter 3

I woke up early on Thursday, normally I would just turn over and go back to sleep until mum called me, but today I was in such a good mood that I decided to get up and cook breakfast. It would be a nice surprise for mum.

I'm actually looking forward to going to school today! Gymnastics class seems to have turned things round, hopefully today I won't have to eat lunch on my own.

Okay.... I'm not the world's best cook but at least I tried. I think mum was relieved when the phone rang so she wouldn't have to eat it! I could tell by the tension in her voice it was dad on the phone.

"Was that dad?" I asked. "Mmm.." she replied. "What did he want?"

"Oh, uh, nothing important... will you be alright walking home from school today, I'm not going to be able to pick you up?" "Yeah, no problem... Don't you want your breakfast? Yeah, I guess I should leave the cooking to you in future."

I arrived at school just as the bell was ringing and I had to rush to my locker to get my text books for Chemistry class. I didn't have time to sort through them so I just grabbed them all and stuffed them into my bag. I slammed it shut and turned to hurry to class. Snap! "Aaargh!" I screamed in frustration as the strap broke and everything fell onto the floor. I looked up and saw some of my classmates walking towards me, and cringed in embarassment as they walked straight past without any offer of assistance. Was I invisible? Then I saw Dillon approaching, now my humiliation was complete...

But instead of ignoring me, he surprised me by stopping and helping me pick up all my books. "Just ingore those idiots", he said "they're just a bunch of misinformed, cretinous, unenlightened boneheads." "Ummm... yes?" I replied. "Sorry", he chuckled "My mum says I swallowed a thesaurus when I was a baby!" I laughed and felt a warm glow as he picked up my rucksack, put his arm round my shoulder and walked me to class.

Chapter 4

Today is going to be a special day! I get up early and spend ages choosing the right outfit and applying my make-up, then I float to school dreaming of Dillon...

He's waiting outside the school for me and grabs my hands and pulls me close. "Lennie, we spend alot of time together and I just can't contain my feelings anymore..." and he leans towards me... RINNNGGG!! Damn that school bell! RINNNGGG!! Why won't it stop!? "Lennie!" mum shouts, "turn off your alarm clock!" "Sigh... back to reality."

Today is going to be a special day! Yes, I'm not dreaming this time! I've settled into Lakeside Academy now and made lots of new friends. I'm not going to say I don't miss my friends in the city, but things are bearable now. Most afternoons Dillon walks me home and we spend time together studying and just hanging out, until mum gets home from work. He's said he has something to tell me today... I'm sure he's going to ask me out! I float to school dreaming of Dillon...

As I approach the school doors I see Dillon coming out and my heart skips a beat, and then stops completely when I see he's holding hands with a girl, and they look kinda friendly. I freeze and cringe as he spots me and heads over. "Hi Dillon, sorry I'm in a hurry, I'll catch you later." and I rush through the doors and into the bathroom before he has a chance to respond. Oh my God, he wasn't going to ask me out, he was going to tell me about his girlfriend. How could I have been so stupid!

Over lunch I try to figure out how to turn the conversation around to Dillon without being too obvious. "Did you see Lauren and Dillon have got back together?" asked Sophie. "Yes," said Caitlin, "I was at a family barbecue on Sunday and Dillon had invited her, she was following him around like a lovesick puppy all afternoon."

"Your related to Dillon?" I asked. "Yes" replied Caitlin "We're cousins, didn't he tell you? He's always round at your place, I thought he was keen on you for a bit but he's always had a soft spot for Lauren."

"Lauren runs the school magazine, and she's on the cheerleading squad," said Sophie, "And her parents are really rich too!"
"Well if Lauren's so great why don't you all go and be friends with her!" I screeched and rushed out of the room before I burst into tears.

"Hey Lenny, are you okay?" I looked up and saw Adam, the gymnastics coach. "Yes, I'm fine" I said, trying to hide my face. "I haven't seen you around gymnastics club, has everything been okay?"
"Thanks, Adam, I'm okay, I've just been a bit busy lately, that's all."
"Well, if there's anything I can help you with, you know where to find me, even if you just need someone to talk to."
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind" I replied as I wiped my tears, "I've got Chemistry, I'd better be going.... thank you."

Chapter 5

It had been a very long day, hometime never seemed to arrive. But at last the bell rang and I ran out of school. I couldn't face going straight home because I used to hang out there with Dillon after school, so instead I wandered the long way home. Walking seemed to help clear my head and I decided to sit down and write it all down in my diary. Seeing it on paper made me realise how trivial it all is, I mean he's just a guy, it's not as if there is a shortage of them is there?

Suddenly I relised I wasn't alone, I could hear something... It sounded like someone crying...

I followed the sound of the sobs and found a guy I recognised from gymnastics club sitting on one of the swings, damn, what was his name?!

"Hi", I said, "I'm Lenny, we used to do gymnastics together. Is everything okay? You seem pretty upset."
He wiped his eyes on his sleeve and looked up, "Hi, I'm okay, I just can't face going home right now."
"Want to talk about it?" I asked. "Not really." he replied. "Well why don't we sit over there and I can tell you what a crap day I've had, maybe that will cheer you up!"

We sat on a fallen tree and I told him everything that had happened since I'd moved to Lakeside. Maybe me confessing all made him feel more comfortable, because he started to tell me why he didn't want to go home...

"My mum, she's an..... she like to drink. When she's sober she's the best mum in the world... but that doesn't happen much these days. I look after my little sister, Julie, most of the time but I have to work as mum's not capable of holding down a job. Anyway... one of the neighbours reported her to Child Welfare and this morning they took Julie away. I can't face going home to an empty house."
"I am so sorry" I said, "My problems are selfish compared to yours, you must think I'm such a spoilt brat!"
"Well..." he replied with a smile on his face.

We stayed and chatted for a while, both trying to delay the inevitable. He was quite funny and he soon had me laughing and forgetting about my problems... Dillon? Dillon who?

I looked around and saw that it had gotten dark whilst we'd been talking. "Well, I suppose I'd better be getting home." I said reluctantly. "Yeah, me too." He turned and started to walk away. "Wait!" I shouted, "I forgot ask you, what's your name?" "Dylan!" he replied. We both burst out laughing and we headed off home feeling a bit happier.

Why is it when you think things are going fine they just turn round and slap you in the face? Yes, I was upset about Dillon but hanging with Dylan really cheered me up and we spent alot of time together down at the pond, and at school. My so-called friends decided to take offence at me having a new friend. This morning I was having a laugh with Dylan outside the lockers and my friends, aka "The Three Witches", came along and started causing trouble.

"Hey Lenny, what you hanging with that loser for, we not good enough for you?" called Caitlin.
"Why can't you guys just be nice?" I asked. "Am I not allowed to have my own friends?"
"Not when they're trailer trash!" shouted Sophie.

I couldn't believe what I had just heard! I grabbed Dylan by the arm and dragged him outside. To my horror they started to follow us.
"Just ignore them!" I said to Dylan. We walked over to the courtyard but they just came with us.
"Look, why can't you just leave us alone." I asked. "We're not doing anything to you!"
"What? Are we not good enough for you?" asked Megan. "I remember when you first came here. You were the biggest klutz in the whole school, if we hadn't taken pity on you, you'd still be Lenny-No-Mates!"
"Yeah," added Sophie, "Do you really think we want to hang out with you, I mean you look like you shop in thrift stores!"
I gasped in horror, how could they be so mean! They were supposed to be my friends!
"Hey Dylan, why don't you come and sit with us? There's a strange smell over there." said Caitlin.

Chapter 7

Thankfully term was over. It had its ups and downs, alot of downs, but I had a great best friend in Dylan. We like to go to the lake, it's not warm enough for swimming yet but it's peaceful and we can hang out without being disturbed. Dylan likes to show off climbing the trees! Boys will be boys! His sister is in foster care now but at least he gets to visit her regularly. And mum has had a promotion at work so money's not so tight at home.

I've also got a new friend, Josie. She joined Lakeside mid-term and we became friends quickly. She's really easy-going and it's nice to have someone to go shopping and do girly things with.

Last week was the Debutante Ball. I didn't have a date, I was kinda hoping Dillon might... well, Dylan and I went together. We had a great night, it was lots of fun. Mum couldn't afford to buy me a new dress but dad's girlfriend took me shopping and bought me a really pretty dress, so I guess she's good for something.

On Wednesday I got bad news, or was it good news? I'm a bit confused about it all...
Dylan came round all excited. He was waving a letter, when I saw the look on his face I thought maybe his sister was getting to go home.
"Hey Lenny, read this!" he shouted. I took the letter out of his hand and read...
"..... we are extremely happy to offer you a place on our gymnastics program and hope you will be able to join us for the start of the new term next week. Please find enclosed...."
"Oh my god! Thanks fantastic!" I said. "You really deserve this, I'm so happy for you!" I looked at the address on the letter, China..... China?! Suddenly it didn't seem that great after all.

So... today I phoned to invite him over for a games night, to give us a chance to talk. We played Monopoly and ate pizza and reminisced about the good times.
"Remember the time you told The Three Witches they stank!" I laughed.
"Yes, and remember the time you tripped Lauren up right into that muddy puddle!"
"That was an accident! I swear!"
"Yeah, right!" he smiled.

Then Dylan got up and gave me a hug, and suddenly it hit me... he was going to the other side of the world. I might never see him again. I started to sob and he sat me down on the couch. "I'm gonna miss you Lenny." he said.
"I know, I'm gonna miss you too."
"Going to this school is an opportunity I can't pass up but I hate leaving my sis and you. Would you do me a favour?"
"Of course, anything!"
"Would you go and visit Julie for me? I doubt mum will go and see her and I don't want her to think no one cares about her."
"Don't worry" I said, "of course I will!"
I rested my head on his shoulder and cried until I fell asleep.

Chapter 8

I woke the next morning feeling dreadful, my eyes were swollen and red and my head was thumping. I couldn't believe Dylan was really going, I was going to miss him so much. If only there was a way I could make him stay...

We met up later that day.
"Dylan, I know I'm being selfish, but I really want you to stay. Can't you change your mind?" I pleaded.
"Lenny, you don't know how bad that makes me feel. I went to see Julie at her foster home this morning to tell her, and she was so upset... I really don't know what to do." he replied. "This scholarship could be my big chance, but I don't want to leave you and Julie!"
"Oh god, sorry Dylan, I didn't mean to upset you... isn't there some way around this?" I asked, "Couldn't you get a scholarship here?"
"It's not that simple, the nearest sports college is Middlehampton, so I would still have to move away."

We spent most afternoons at my house whilst mum was as work, making the most of our time together. We discussed ways in which he could stay in Lakeside but none of them seemed feasible. It was a pretty low time but we tried to cheer each other up.

On Friday mum was working late so Dylan stayed for dinner, he's brave as my cooking skills are famous, or rather, infamous! Afterwards we sat on the couch planning, yet again...
"I found a gym that does coaching before and after school," I told him, "It's only in West Shore so you could get the bus. Some really big names have gone through there as they've got a really good trainer."
"Yeah? That sounds really good!" said Dylan, looking excited.
"Yes, but it's private." I said.
"Oh." replied Dylan sinking back in resignation.
"I'm sorry" I said, "I just thought... I dunno..."

I turned and looked at him, he glanced up and our eyes met. Time froze and we were unable to look away. Slowly.... gently.... we leant towards each other.... until.... our lips met. The kiss seemed to last an eternity and as we parted I felt breathless and I could hear my blood pounding in my ears. I looked into his eyes and knew he felt the same.

Chapter 9


Monday morning... I walked slowly to school dragging my feet. Dylan would be in an aeroplane by now, on his way to China. After our kiss things changed between us, it seemed more important than ever that we stayed together. But no matter how we looked at it we just couldn't figure a way round it.

I arrived at school late but not really caring, when I heard a shout,
"Lenny! Lenny, hold up!" I turned to see Dylan running across the school yard.
"But.... what are you doing here?" I asked, "Shouldn't you be on your way to China?"
He smiled at me. "I couldn't go, not now..." he said. "Come on!"
"What's going on?" I asked.
"We're running away!" "No, seriously, what are you doing here?" I asked again.
"I'm serious! I've got my mum's car! Let's go!" "But go where?"
"Anywhere! The city! I don't know! I don't care!"

He looked me in the eye and I knew that he meant it. "Wait!" I said.
"What's wrong, don't you want us to be together?" he asked sadly.
"Of course I do. But I need to go home first."
"What for?"
"My dad's away on a business trip this week with his secretary, or should I say girlfriend. We can stay at his place till we figure things out."
"Great idea!" said Dylan, and off we ran.

"Isn't it just!" I replied sarcastically, "The living room is the size of mum's whole house!"
"Hey, it's going to be okay." said Dylan, taking me in his arms. I laid my head on his shoulder. "I know." I sighed, "But I better call mum before she phones the police!"

Thankfully mum was working late again so I didn't have to speak to her directly. "Hi mum, it's Lenny here. I just wanted to let you know I'm okay. I'm staying with Dylan for a bit and....... well, I just wanted to let you know I'm safe and you're not to worry about me. I'll call you tomorrow."
"Man, do I feel bad!" I said. "She's gonna hate me!" I sighed, "I'm tired, I think I'm going to go to bed. It's been a long day."
"Hey, I've got a surprise for you!" He opened his rucksack and pulled out the Minnie Mouse ears we'd worn to the Debutante Ball. He reached over and gently placed mine on my head. "Thank you, Dylan." I said "That's so sweet!"
"Shall I sleep on the sofa?" asked Dylan.
"No, it's okay," I replied, "I've got a huge bed."
We went through to the bedroom and lay on the bed.
"Lenny, I know you're feeling bad about your mum right now, but I'm glad you came."
I turned to look at Dylan, "So am I Dylan. Today I didn't want to get out of bed, I couldn't face the day without you."
"You've been a good friend to me Lenny, but now it's more than that... I love you Lenny. You mean more to me than any gymnastics scholarship."

First of all thanks to all the new readers! Don't worry, there's lots more chapter to come and I hope they are as enjoyable. P.S. I think Dylan's hair is from Rosesims, but I couldn't get onto her website to check.


Chapter 10 - Part One


Well it's been an eventful year! Where should I start? At the beginning I suppose...

Our second day in the city was a bit of ananti-climax. After all the excitement of running away together reality hit... we had no money, no jobs, and when my dad got back, nowhere to stay. We went out for a walk, that was all we could afford to do! When we got back I phoned mum again. I was kinda hoping she would still be at work, but she'd taken the day off as she was so worried about me.

"Hi mum." I said, "Lenny! For goodness sake, where are you! I've been out of my mind with worry! What were you thinking of, running away?"
Well, you can guess the rest. She put a big guilt trip on me and after some long negotiations I agreed to go home, with Dylan. Mum was so desperate to have me home she agreed to Dylan moving in with us, she even said we could have her bedroom as it has a double bed! Her only stipulation was that we had to go back to school.

Mum was so pleased to have me home she forgot to be angry with me. Phew!

"Mum, me and Dylan were having a chat on the way home and we've decided we don't want to go back to school"
"But Lenny, that was our agreement, Dylan can stay here but you have to go to school."
"I really don't want to go back there, it was bad enough last year, but now they'll make my life a misery. We've decided to enroll at the Lakeside College of Further Education, they have alot of good courses there and we can still do our Highers as well."
"Are you sure that's the right decision? The school has a very good reputation."
"We're sure mum, we'll go and see the Rector tomorrow and see what courses we can take."

And so our lives settled down for a period. I was studying for my highers and doing a HND in Design, Dylan was studying Sports Science and practising his gymnastics in his spare time. Our fortunes were starting to look up, Dylan was spotted by the trainer at West Shore Gymnastics Club and was awarded a scholarship. He gets free coaching and teaches the younger gymnasts after school and at weekends, he very busy between that and his studying but he loves it. And I put an ad in the local paper for doing clothes alterations and I've started to build up a little client base. The only thing that was bothering us was that we weren't a "proper" couple yet. With mum sleeping in the next room it put a dampner on our passion.

However that soon changed! Mum went for a night out in the city with her old friends and we had the house to ourselves. I cooked us a romantic candlelit dinner then Dylan led me to the bedroom...

I'm not going to say it was amazing, awkward and fumbling are the words that come to mind! But it was also tender and loving and definitely a night I would cherish.

We decided we needed our own space and between Dylan's scholarship and my sewing we had enough money to rent a small apartment in town. Mum had a tear in her eye as she said goodbye, I think she realises her little girl has become a woman.

Our new apartment was a bit of a dump but we bought some paint, and with a bit of elbow grease it scrubbed up alright. To be honest we didn't care, we were just happy to be together.

We soon settled into a routine, Dylan had to get up early for his gymnastics before going to college, then had to teach after his classes had finished. Sometimes he was exhausted by the time he got home, but he never complained. I spent alot of time studying and sewing, I'd even started making evening dresses for some of my clients.

About 6 weeks after we moved into our apartment I started feeling ill. I thought maybe I'd been overdoing things, but after 2 weeks I wasn't feeling any better so I decided to go to the doctor. He took some blood samples and told me to phone is a week for the results.

"Hello, this is Lenny Devaney, I'm phoning for the results of my blood tests."
"Hold on one minute please." said the receptionist. "Okay, here they are. Can you just confirm your details please."
I recited my details over the phone.
"Well Lenny I'm pleased to tell you the results are positive."
"Positive! What do you mean positive! Positive for what?" I asked worriedly.
"Your pregnant!" she replied.
"Pregnant! How can I be pregnant!" I shreiked down the phone.
"Well I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that!"
I slammed down the phone in shock!

What was I going to do? How could this happen now, when things were going so well...

I waited nervously for Dylan to come home...

"Hi Lenny, are you okay?" he asked as he came through the door.
"Umm, yeah, I think so." I mumbled.
"What's up, did you get your results today? Was everything okay?" he asked worriedly.
"Well... you could say that. I'm not ill."
"Then what did the doctor say? You've got me worried!"
"......... I'm pregnant!" I finally blurted out, and burst into tears.

He gave a whoop and grabbed me in his arms. "Are you happy about it?" I asked.
"What do you think!" he replied, I looked into his grinning face and saw my answer. "What about you?" he asked. "You don't look so happy."
"It's not that I'm not happy, I was just worried that you would be upset or be mad at me."
"Look at me!" he said, "I could never be mad at you!"

That night we lay in bed and discussed the future. Dylan washed all my fears away, he had an answer for all my doubts. I went to sleep feeling happy and at peace with the world.

The next day Dylan came home early from college. "I'm going to cook dinner tonight, I want it to be special." he said. "I've made you an appointment at the hairdressers for 4 o'clock, so you clear out and let me get cooking!"

When I got back he was all dressed up and I could smell the delicious smell of Italian coming from the oven. "Dinner will be in an hour." he said, so I headed to the bedroom to get ready. When I came back the table was set. We sat down to eat but I could see he was looking nervous. "It's delicious!" I said.
"It's not the food I'm worried about!" he repied and pulled a box from under the table. "Go on, open it!"
I could hardly contain my excitement as I opened the box and saw the beautiful diamond ring inside. I took it out and slipped it on my finger.
"I take it that's a yes then?" he smiled at me.
"Yes!" I replied. "But how could you afford it?" I asked.
He hung his head and looked a bit guilty, "You remember mum's car, the one we borrowed? Umm... well, I sold it."
"What!" I laughed.
"She's can't drive it so I thought I may as well put it to good use!"

Next day I phoned mum and invited her over. I wanted her to be the first to hear our good news. She saw the ring as soon as she walked in.
"Oh Lenny, are you sure you're doing the right thing? Don't you think you're rushing things?"
"Mum, I've got some more good news for you." I replied, "You're going to be a granny!"
"What!" she screamed. "Have you lost your mind! You're just a child yourself!"
"I'm sorry you feel that way mum, but it's what we want."
"But will it still be what you want when you're stuck at home with a baby and all your friends are out partying?" she asked.
"Yes, mum, it will!" I said firmly.
I made us some coffee and she finally calmed down. By the time she left I think she was secretly excited about becoming a granny. She gave me a big hug, "Remember and take care of yourself" she said, "And if you need anything, don't hesitate to call."
I knew then it was going to be okay.

Dyaln is the doting father-to-be. He can't spend enough time talking to the baby and running round after me. He won't let me lift a finger whilst he's at home, long may it continue!

I went out for a walk one afternoon to get some fresh air, I'd spent all morning sewing and wanted to stretch my legs. I looked up and walking towards me was Dillon. My heart gave a little flutter, he was still as cute as ever, but he put his head down and walked straight past me.

I was shocked. It made me realise how much I had grown-up in the past year. Dillon may be cute but he's weak and shallow, not like my Dylan. It made me appreciate even more what we had. When I got home I told my baby how much he or she was loved and promised to take care of her/him just like my mum had with me.

Chapter 10 - Part Two

My bump was getting bigger by the day and we knew we had to arrange the wedding soon. As it was summer we decided to get married beside the lake and we set about making the arrangements. We didn't want a big wedding, and we certainly couldn't afford one! So we just had a quiet ceremony with Mum and Julie, Dylan's sister, as the only guests.

I made my own gown, in pink as I didn't think white was very suitable given the circumstances! And I also made dresses for mum and Julie. The ceremony was very moving and romantic, with pink rose petals showering us as we said our vows.

Afterwards mum took us out to dinner at the (one and only) hotel in Lakeside. We certainly turned a few heads that day, though I'm sure that was more to do with my large bump! We couldn't afford a honeymoon but we didn't care, things like that don't matter when you're young and in love.

Anyway, to bring us up to the present, a couple of days ago I had a sore back. I tried to rest but I couldn't get comfortable, no matter which position I lay in. I got up to get a glass of water, when suddenly a band of pain gripped my stomach.

It took my breath away. "Dylan!" I gasped, "I think the baby's coming!"
"Are you sure?" he asked, "It's not just heartburn again?"
"No it's not!" I gasped through gritted teeth as another wave of pain swept over me.

"Oh my god!" he yelled, "What shall I do? Should I call an ambulance? Or should I boil some water? Do you need some towels?"
"Calm down!" I said firmly, "I'm having a baby not a heart attack. Call the midwife, the number's next to the phone."

I started to waddle through to the bedroom to get my overnight bag. Another contraction gripped my stomach and I felt the overwhelming urge to push. "Dylan! Tell her the baby's coming now! I'm not going to make it to the hospital!"

Luckily in a small town like Lakeside it doesn't take long to get anywhere so the midwife arrived quickly.... and half an hour later our little angel Eve arrived, healthy and hungry! And a big set of lungs on her!

So... it's been a busy year for us, the Owen Family, gymnast, fashion designer, and little angel.

I laughed when I read that, my horse is actually called Romy (in case you hadn't guessed by my username!) :lol: my husband thinks it's weird that everyone online calls me romy!

But no, she hasn't foaled, we thought she was about to but it must have just been the foal turning into position, that can happen 2 hours or 2 days before the birth. So I'm hoping for a phone call tomorrow morning!

Anyway, I'm just getting the pictures ready for the first new chapter, I hope everyone enjoys it.

Part 2 - Chapter 1

It's been nearly a year since Eve was born. And what a year it was. We've moved to a bigger house with room for my design business. We were so excited when we moved in, it was as if we'd proved we were a real family. Mum bought us a new bed and we couldn't help but christen it that first night! Since then between looking after Eve and running the business and home I've hardly had a chance to catch my breath!

Dylan's sister Julie is settled with a great foster family in West Shore so Dylan visits her alot after he's finished at the gym. She doesn't come over here much, now she's a teenager she's much too busy with her friends and boys to come and visit her boring sister-in-law!

Mum's been fantastic, she dotes on Eve and has been a great help to me. I don't know what I would do without her, Dylan's so busy these days he's hardly ever around to help out. Sigh!

Anyway tomorrow is Eve's first birthday, we're having a little party for her at home, just family, well, Julie won't be there as she's going bowling with her friends, and of course I couldn't invite dad and his latest teenage girlfriend, so it'll be a party for 4.

Well, Eve's party turned out to be a party for 3! Mum and I tried hard to make it a fun time for Eve but I could tell by the way mum kept looking at me she was really disappointed in Dylan. I avoided her gaze and forced a smile on my face for Eve's sake.

Dylan had had to work late but when he finally made it home he had some surprising news for us.
"You'll never guess what happened today!" he gushed excitedly.
"What?" I asked.
"Colin Murray from the national gymnastic squad phoned me at work... I've been chosen to train for the Commonwealth Games!"
"Wow! That's fantastic! That's what you've always wanted! I am so pleased for you, all your hard work has paid off!"
He picked me up and carried me upstairs to celebrate.

Next morning his friend, Jack, picked him up early and drove him the the train station for the first of many residential training camps. I was going to be on my own again, not that I wasn't used to it!
"Damn," I thought, "Here's me being selfish and thinking about myself when he gave up the chance to train in China to be with me. Get your act together girl! This is your chance to repay him." and I went upstairs and woke my little princess.

Chapter 2


So life fell into a routine. During the day I worked, designing outfits, ordering material, meeting customers, I was so busy mum came over most days to help look after Eve. She was getting to be a real handful, into everything, but she always behaved for Granny!

The evenings were the worst. When mum went home and I put Eve to bed the house felt so lonely and empty. I read most nights to fill the empty hours till bedtime. We hadn't had time to celebrate Dylan's news properly before he left for training camp so I decided to have a little party for him when he got back. I had been reading some cookbooks whilst he'd been away so I planned a lovely meal.

Dylan was so excited when he got home, all he could talk about was his trainers and his new routines and the other gymnasts. It was great to see him so animated, but I kept waiting for him to ask how Eve was, or how I'd been. "Oh gosh, there's me being all selfish again!" I thought, "He get's a once in a lifetime chance and I want him to ask me how I am."

I picked up Eve and put her to bed. When I went downstairs mum had gone and I noticed my cheesecake hadn't been eaten. I cut a slice for Dylan and brought it over for him. "Here, try this!" I smiled, "It's homemade."
"What is wrong with you! You know I have to follow a strict diet!" he shouted at me. "It was bad enough that you put all that creamy sauce on the salmon!"
I cringed in surprise. "Keep your voice down, Eve sleeping!"
He pushed the plate at me and stormed off to bed. So I sat and ate my cheesecake alone.

So that's how things are now. Dylan works hard at the gym and goes away once a month to training camp. Even when he's home he's only seems happy when he's working out. Jenna, I definitely agree with you. How many new facts!
At the beginning, I was really, but really happy for Lenny and Dylan and the doctor saying "Well I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that" was really great, Romy (Ok, maybe the things are a little more rushing than I thought or I hope for my life ;) ).
But now, I think Dylan is really a crap! :flame: :madashel:

Chapter 3

The first day of spring arrived and it was a beautiful fresh morning so I took Eve out to the garden to play. We hadn't been outside long when a young girl walked round the side of the house.
"Hi!" she said, "I'm Danny, I'm looking for Lenny Devaney?"
"That must be me then!" I explained, "But it's not Devaney anymore."
She sat down and joined Eve and I in the garden. She explained she wanted a dress for her Prom. "I can't afford to pay too much, but I just want something a bit different. I'm not a merangue kind of girl!"
I laughed, "I'm sure I can manage that!"

We went inside and I showed her some of the fabrics I had and we talked about the style she wanted. I wrote down her measurements in my book and took her details. "Carragon?" I asked, "Are you related to Dillon Carragon?"
"Yes," she answered, turning slightly red, "He's my dorky older brother! Not to mention my English teacher! How embarassing is that!"
"English teacher," I replied, "Well he always did have a way with words!"
"You know him?" she asked.
"Yes, we went to school together. We even hung out together for a while. I didn't realise he was still living in Lakeside, I haven't seen him in ages."
"He lives outside town, he doesn't to be bumping in to all his pupils every time he goes out."
"I guess not." I sighed.

We finished up and we made an appointment for the following week. I was kept busy the rest of the day, but that evening as I sat down to my dinner for one, my thoughts turned to Dillon. Life is full of "What if's", and I found myself wondering what would have happened if Dillon and I had dated in High School. I am pretty sure we would have dated a few weeks, broken up and I would never that thought of him again! So why do I find my thoughts drawn to him now?

Chapter 4


The following Saturday Danny came back for her fitting. When I answered the door though, I discovered she wasn't alone! Dillon stood there looking a bit sheepish.
"Umm... come in." I stuttered.
We walked through to my studio and I showed them the dress.
"Wow! It looks great!" said Danny, "Can I try it on?"
"Sure." I replied. "could you go and make some coffee Dillon?"

Whilst Dillon made coffee I made the necessary adjustments to the dress. "There! That should do it. How does that look to you?" I asked Danny.
"My friends are going to be so jealous! Big brother's aren't so bad sometimes!" she laughed.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Who do you think is paying for it." she giggled and went to get changed.

I was starting to get a funny feeling about this. I walked through to the kitchen to confront Dillon but he wasn't there. I walked through to the living room and there he was playing with Eve. I held out my arms, "Give her to me please!" I demanded.
"She's a real cutie isn't she." he said, "She's got your eyes."
I put her down to play with her toys, "Your coffee will be getting cold."

We joined Danny at the table and tried to make polite conversation. Danny picked up her cup, "I'll just go and check on Eve." she said, walking out of the room.

"Why are you here?" I asked Dillon.
"Danny asked me to drive her over."
"Is that the only reason?"
"Yes!" he replied. "Well.... actually, no...."
"You shouldn't be here!" I hissed. "I want you to leave! Now!"
"Hold on Lenny. I just wanted to say I was sorry, all that stuff that happened in High School... ... when I heard you were making Danny's dress, I just wanted to see you... to clear the air. We used to be best friends."
I stood up, "Get out! I am married now, I have a child, and I am happy! The time for apologies was 4 years ago. I think you're a bit late."
"Geez Lenny, I didn't mean to upset you. I'll be going. Come on Danny, it's time to go!" he called.

That night I tossed and turned in my bed. I kept thinking about Dillon, and it made me feel bad, like I was betraying Dylan just be thinking about another man. I sighed "It doesn't matter anyway," I thought, "After my rant today I don't think Dillon will be coming anywhere near my house again!"

On Monday I dropped Eve off at my mum's and went into town to do some shopping. All of a sudden the heavens opened and it started to pour with rain. I rushed into the nearby bar. I sat at the bar and ordered a juice
whilst I waited the shower out. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked down the end of the bar, there was Dillon! "Oh my god," I thought. "Please let the ground open and swallow me up!" I was about to try and sneak
out when he looked up and saw me, and to my horror, walked over!

"Hey Lenny, mind if I sit here?"
"Ummm.. no, go ahead." I mumbled, unable to look him in the eye.
"Look, can we clear the air here?" he asked. "I just want us to be friends again."
I sighed, "It's not that easy Dillon, you can't just go back to the way things were. We've grown up and changed, we're not the same people we were 4 years ago."
"I know, but.... you were the only one who truly understood me back then. I guess I miss that."
"We both miss that." I replied, "But can you imagine the friction it would cause between me and Dylan if we became friends again? Or between me and my mum?"
"I'm sorry, I don't want to cause you any trouble."
"I am sure we can be civil towards each other but I can't ever imagine us being friends again." I said with regret in my heart.
He sighed, "Okay Lenny, if that's what you want." And he got up and walked out of the bar.

I was relieved but at the same time disappointed. Every second I had sat next to him my heart pounded and I was scared to lift my glass in case he saw my hand shake. I had to do something and I knew exactly what that was!

Sorry it's been a while since I updated, my horse is still not doing well and has been referred to the Vet Hospital, so I've been pretty preoccupied. But here is a small update for you.


Chapter 5


I called mum and asked her is she could keep Eve for the rest of the day.
"What's happenend?" she asked alarmed!
"Nothing, a client just called and wants me to go over and do a fitting, it's a bit of an emergency." I lied.
I rushed home and jumped into my car. The feelings I had for Dillon were tearing me up, I just had to do something about it.

I drove for 2 hours until I finally reached the Athletic Academy where Dylan was staying. I knew that if I could just see him and talk to him about my fears, not about Dillon obviously, but about how lonely and alone I was feeling right now, he would put things right.

I walked into the Academy, I didn't know where to start looking so I grabbed the first person that walked past.
"Do you know Dylan Owen? You do? Do you know where I can find him?"
I was directed to the cafeteria.
I hurried along the corridor longing to be in his arms again. I pushed open the door to the cafeteria and walked in, only to find him horsing around with a pretty young gymnast.

"So this is part of your training is it?!" The girl looked at me and quickly slipped out of the room.
"Lenny! What are you doing here? You can't just turn up here unannounced!"
"Can't I see my husband when I want to?" I asked.
"Of course, but you should have phoned first."
"I'm sorry for just turning up, but I needed to see you." I explained. "Things haven't been going too well lately, and I really miss you, Eve does too!"
"Lenny, it's only 4 weeks till the Games, can't you hold things together for a bit longer? I really don't need any distractions just now. I'll be home for the weekend then we'll be flying out to the base camp."
"No Dylan, I don't think I can!" I pleaded, "Can't we just go somewhere and talk."
"I've got to go Lenny, I've got training." he said as he edged towards the door, "I'm sorry, we'll talk at the weekend."

Her foal, Annie, is doing well and I have sold her to the lady who owns the stables where I kept them, she will be well looked after and have other foals to play with there.

The next day I could barely drag myself out of bed. Thank goodness for Eve, she was all that kept me going. I went to my studio and saw there was a message on the answering machine. I hurried over and pressed the button, hoping it was Dylan calling to apologise. But instead it was Danny.
"Hi, Lenny it's Danny! Can you drop my dress off on Friday afternoon? I finish school at 3 so if you could bring it over then that would be great! Oh, by the way I'll be at Dillon's, mum and dad are away for the weekend. The address is......"

Oh great! That's all I need! A trip to Dillon's house. But as I thought that, I also could feel butterflies in my stomach! "Behave yourself girl!" I thought "Dylan's coming home for the weekend, you can get all your problems sorted out then."

When I walked up to Dillon's house I was amazed, it was beautiful, built right on the lakeside. I saw him walking out to greet me.
"Teaching must pay well!" I said indicating towards his house.
"I wish." he replied "It's very small inside." and he reached out and took my hands in his. "It's nice to see you again Lenny." he smiled.
"Uuhh, why don't we go inside!" I suggested, "Is Danny home?"
"No, she's always running late."
"Oh!"
"I'll make us some coffee shall I?"
"That sounds great." I replied and we headed into the kitchen.

Danny still hadn't turned up, so we headed out to the garden to enjoy the view.
"How are you Lenny?" he asked. "You look a bit sad today."
Damnit! I thought, why couldn't Dylan be the one asking me that.

"Are you okay?"
"Yes.... things are just.... a bit difficult at home, with Dylan being away so much."
"I heard about him getting picked for the Commonwealth Games, you must be really proud."
"I am," I smiled. "He's worked so hard to get there, he really deserves it."
He reached across and put his hand on mine. "You know if there's ever anything you need, you can come to me."
I felt a warm glow spread throughout my body, it felt like I was back in High School again.

We jumped up guiltily to discover Danny had arrived home.
"Nothing's going on!" said Dillon sternly, "We were just waiting for you!"
I went inside with Danny and helped her try on the dress, it fitted perfectly.

"You know," she added, "Dillon really likes you. He was really upset when you ran off with that other guy."
"Dillon and I never dated so there could hardly be an 'other guy'!" I replied.
"Yeah, well... I do know he has a picture of you in the drawer next to his bed."
I gasped in surprise! "Look, I don't think we should be talking about this. I've got to go and pick my daughter
up from my mum's. Tell Dillon just to send me a cheque for the dress." And I rushed outside, desperate to feel
the fresh air on my skin.

Chapter 7


When I got home I felt dirty. I ran upstairs and had a long shower. I had just finished drying my hair when the doorbell rang. As I walked towards the door I saw Dillon standing outside. I hesitated, then walked forward to open it.

"Yes?" I asked.
"You rushed off earlier without getting paid, I was dropping Danny off at her friends so I thought I would drop your money off now."
"Oh, okay, thanks."
"Can I come in for a minute?" he asked.
I looked at the rose in his hand. "I'm not sure that's a good idea Dillon."
"I just wanted to talk."
"Okay but just for a minute."
We went into the living room and sat on the floor with Eve.

"You look tired." he said.
"Yes, I am but I can't take a day off work, I'm the only one earning at the moment. Dylan only gets his expenses paid. Mum's great though, she's helps out alot with looking after Eve."
"Once the Commonwealth Games are over things should get back to normal again." said Dillon.
"Yes," I joked, "Then it's only 2 years till the Olympics! Not forgetting the World Championships! And the Nationals!" I sighed. "I'd better be getting Eve ready for bed." That was his hint to leave!
"Let me help you!" he replied, and picked up Eve and tossed her in the air, much to her delight. "I think she likes me!"
"She just misses having a man around!" I said half jokingly.

Chapter 8


Early next morning the phone rang, I rushed to pick it up in case it was Dylan.
"Hello Lenny, it's Dillon...." I slammed the phone down. I didn't need any reminders of last night!

I kept myself busy tidying up the house for Dylan coming home. Finally the doorbell rang and I rushed to answer it. There was Dillon on the doorstep. I turned and walked away, I couldn't bear to face him. Dylan would be home soon.

Soon I heard the front door and I rushed to greet Dylan, only to discover it was my mum. "I wasn't expecting you today!" I exclaimed.
"I thought I would take Eve for the night, you and Dylan need to spend some time alone, you've got alot to talk about!" and she gave me "The Look"!
My heart started pounding and I felt my face redden. Did she know?

Half an hour later I heard the front door again, Dylan rushed in and scooped me up in his arms. "I've missed you so much!" he said, as he held me tight. "Where's Eve?" he asked, looking around. "She's at mum's for the night." I replied.
"Perfect!" he said and carried me up the stairs.

Later as we lay on the bed he turned to look at me. "I'm sorry about the other day, I shouldn't have snapped at you. But it had been a stressful day and you caught me in the middle of training."
That wasn't quite how I remembered it! But I said "That's okay, I understand." not to spoil the moment.

"I've got some great news." he said excitedly, "I've been offered a full time grant! We'll have to move to Newburgh, but I'll be able to train full time, there's a good chance I could be competing at the Olympics in a couple of years!"
I froze. "Well?" He asked, "That's fantastic isn't it?"
My head was spinning. Move away? A million questions flooded my head.
"What exactly does the grant cover?" I asked.
He frowned at me, that obviously wasn't what he had expected to hear. "It covers all my training and travel expenses, and my kit."
"What about your living expenses?"
"Ah!" he said, "Well, no it doesn't cover that, but I should be able to get extra cash coaching or maybe even some sponsorship deals. Anyway, your making enough money with your sewing job, I'm sure it will be okay."
"I am a designer! Not a sewer!"
"Okay, but you can do that anywhere!"

I went downstairs to make coffee, Dylan following on my heels.
"Come on Lenny, imagine what this will mean to us!"
"Okay, let's imagine, I'll have to move somewhere I don't know anyone, I'll have to start my business from scratch again, without any contacts, and there'll be no one to look after Eve! Then there's the high rents in Newburgh, the higher cost of living, I don't want to go back to being broke again! I like living here!"
"It would only be for a few years." he said quietly, "I mean my career isn't going to last forever."
"I'm sorry Dylan, this past year has been terrible for me. I've had to bring up our daughter single-handed, I've had to be the main breadwinner, and when you are at home you are so grouchy I wish you weren't!"
"Well why don't you say what you mean Lenny!" he shouted at me.
"Okay!" I retorted, "I don't want to move to Newburgh, if you go you go on your own!"

She, Annie, is kept 7 miles away and I don't have access to a car every day so the lady at the stables was having to look after her for me anyway, so it just made sense to sell Annie to her. I was planning on selling her when she was old enough, I'm too old to start over with a young horse!

Chapter 9



Dylan was leaving on Sunday afternoon to fly off to the gymnasts' base camp. We spent the morning with Eve, trying to be civil, but not managing to look each other in the eye. Later as we said goodbye there was a heaviness in my heart. How had everything turned out so bad? Dylan's dream of being a top gymnast had come true, I've become a successful designer, and we have a beautiful daughter, but somehow the 3 don't work together. Was I wrong to refuse to move? After all it was only for a few years. Should I place Dylan's dreams before my own?

I phoned my mum and invited her round. When she arrived I poured out my heart to her, well almost everything, there was no way I could tell her I'd been unfaithful, not after what my father had put her through.
"Lenny, I hate to say it, but you and Dylan married too young. You've grown up and grown apart. I've seen the way he's treated you lately. He's been acting extremely selfishly, I know he has to if he wants to make it as a gymnast, but he's got a family to think of now."
"It's just the stress of training for the Commonwealth Games, he's not always like that." I replied.
"Lenny, stop hiding from the truth, things were going wrong even before he was picked for the team."
I didn't say anything, how could I when I knew she was right. Did I still love him, or was my guilt for cheating making me cling to a lifeless marriage?
We both looked up as Eve toddled across the floor.
"She should be his main concern now." she added.
"I know," I repled sadly, "But I don't want him to give up his dream, he did that once already for me."

It was the middle of the night and I tried to get some sleep on the sofa but I was too restless. As soon as it was late enough I phoned mum and asked her to bring Eve round.

I broke down when she walked through the door.
"What's the matter Lenny? Where's Dylan?"
Between sobs I managed to tell her that Dylan wouldn't be coming home, "My marriage is over!" I wailed, I felt like such a failure.
She looked down at my stomach, "Are you pregnant Lenny?"
I nodded sadly.
What she said next was unrepeatable!
"No mum, don't blame Dylan, he doesn't know!" I tried to explain.
"Why on earth not! It's time he lived up to his responsibilities!"
"Mum!" I said hesitantly, "I.... I haven't told him.... I haven't told him because I'm not sure if he's the father!"
"What!" she exploded. "I thought I brought you up better than that Lenny!"
"I'm sorry mum," I sobbed.
She took me in her arms, "Oh Lenny," she sighed, "Maybe if he'd been home more..."
"No! Don't blame Dylan, it was my mistake and I have to live with it."
"So, who is he, this other guy?"
"Just someone I met..."
"Does he have a name?"
"Mum, there's no point in getting him involved, it might not even be his baby!"

A couple of weeks later I was sitting out in the garden enjoying the sunshine with Eve, she loves playing in her new sandpit.

I glanced up when I heard someone walking round the side of the house. "Oh no!" I groaned as Dillon appeared.
"Hi Lenny," he called as he approached. Suddenly he stopped and did a double-take, "Are you pregnant?"
"Looks like it!" I replied flippantly.
"Dylan has got some nerve leaving you when you're pregnant!" he exclaimed indignantly.
Here we go again I thought with a sigh, "Dylan doesn't know," I explained, "I want to be with someone who wants to be with me, not because they feel obliged to."
He sat down on the bench next to me.

"I called round today to see if you needed a shoulder to cry on." he said gently. "I heard about you and Dylan splitting up."
I wanted so badly for him to take me in his arms and tell me it would be okay, but I pushed those feelings aside.
"I'm all cried out, " I said, "And I think it's best if you don't come round here anymore." I added as I rose to my feet. We walked through the house to the door, "Goodbye Dillon."
"Lenny..." he said with a pained look in his eyes, he hesitated then leaned forward and took me in his arms. I could have stayed there forever. "Take care," he whispered in my ear, "If you need anything, anything at all,
give me a call." And he turned and walked out the door.

Chapter 12


The next day I was alarmed to hear someone banging violently on the front door. I went to see who it was and Dylan burst through the door.

"When were you planning on telling me!" he shouted.
"What?" I asked nervously, had he found out about Dillon?
"About the baby!"
"Oh!" I said.
"What? Is that all you've got to say? Did you think I wouldn't notice?"
"I... I didn't know how to tell you," I stammered.
"How about, 'You're going to be a dad again Dylan.'"
I stood there like a deer caught in the headlights, this was the moment I'd been dreading, the moment I'd finally have to tell Dylan the truth.
"It's not that simple..." I started, "You see... you were gone... and I was lonely... and..."
"Are you telling me the baby's not mine!"
I looked at the floor, ashamed, "I don't know."
I had never seen him so enraged, "If it wasn't for Eve I would never want to see you again! You are a liar and a cheat and you're not fit to be a mother!" he yelled before storming out of the house, slamming the door behind him.

For a few weeks I fell into a depression. Only the sound of Eve shouting from her bed could get me out of bed in the mornings, and the house started to look untidy and uncared for. Even my work couldn't hold my attention for long.

One afternoon I went up into the attic and got out Eve's old cot. I fixed it up and gave it a coat of paint. Seeing it there in my bedroom made me realise there was still plenty to look forward to in my life, I mean I was only 23, I was healthy and I had a beautiful daughter and another baby on the way. I started looking after myself properly and spending lots of time with Eve, teaching her to walk and talk. I watched the baby growing inside me and looked to the future.

The months quickly flew past, Dylan visited Eve whenever he could, which wasn't that often in reality. I would go out when he visited to avoid the frigid atmosphere. Dillon called regularly but I always rebuffed his offers of friendship, I didn't want him asking awkward questions about my baby.

Finally the day arrived when my baby decided to make an appearance. I quickly phoned the midwife and my mum. I'd
decided on a home birth, and 6 hours later my son was born, I decided to call him Adam. He looks just like his
dad.....

Dylan and Lenny did marry too young, but Dylan isn't a bad person. I also understand what it is to be driven by a goal.
