This competition, should it be both approved and get enough applications should go into Other.

The Time Traveller

Banner to go here

What would you do if you had the power to change the past? What would you do if you could go back and pick the winning lottery numbers, save your friend before he made a fatal mistake, didn’t let her get on that train? We are letting you do just that.

Congratulations Sir and/or Madame you have been randomly selected out of billions of people to test the newest product from Sim Development. You might recognize us as a branch of the famous EAxis, the company that discovered the Ground Zero Facility.

It is self apparent that since Ground Zero Time there has been many technological advancement. Our product is a result of this sudden surge of new inventions and ideas, a second Renaissance if you will. Fortunately, you are going to be able to be one of the first people to ever test this product. (You get to be guinea pigs, wait….. not really guinea pigs, guinea pigs are really expensive these days…. I can’t think of a good metaphor.) For added fun and enjoyment, our Head of Public Relations has convinced us to make this a competition so that, if things do go horrible wrong, you will be less likely to sue! Anyways, if you happen to win this competition you will be able to keep T.U.M. (Time Controller Module) and make any (minor, not incredible reality warping) changes you please.

Included with this letter is a package that contains our time travel suit/remote/room/ect. (We are giving you various models for testing). Have fun!

RULES:
1.) Follow all SC2 Forum rules, Contest rules, and picture sizes. (you may link to pictures)
2.) You may enter one Sim or a team of two Sims working together. If you choose to have two Sims, I expect to see as much of one as I do the other. Also, the change should effect both people.
3.) You MUST have either a teen, adult or elder. You can mention having younger kids, but they cannot enter the competition because there is no logical explanation why they would recieve the package
4.) Any species is fine, if you want a purple alien whose descendant crash landed on Earth/Sim Earth/where ever and had many generations of purple children one of which finally became your applicant, you may.
4.) You may use whatever you want as a time travel device, whether that me a metallic suit on ModtheSims 2, one of the aspiration rewards or something you made yourself. Just have it known what you are using to time travel
5.) Please no verbal abuse to anyone. If you are a repeat offender of this rule, you will be thrown out of the contest.
6.) Photoshopping is allowed, but try not to overdo it.
7.) No stealing, if I find out you stole anything, I will hunt you down.
8.) One application per user. Pretty self explanatory
9.) Have fun!

Scoring

Writing: x/20
Pictures: x/20
Creativity: x/10
+Bonus x/10

If an error is found in my math, I will award the first person to inform me of it 1 point. If you are not actually a participant…… you get a pat on the back. Sorry.

The winner will be decided by an average of their previous scores.

Rounds
1.) My History
2.) My Bad
3.) My Revenge
4.) ???

As my last contest, I am going to have the Bonus round be a story itself. However, this time it will be more of a What if….? Meaning that the bonus will probably not connect to the main rounds.

Judges

These are the people who grade each round and giving comments to the applicants. Judges are expected to supply constructive criticism, suggestions and other helpful comments in response to the participants round submission. Please do not sign up for judging if you know you will not or are likely to abandon the contest, it just causes many more problems than are needed. If you are going to unable to get the scores in for a round, please contact me as soon as possible so I can ask an Emergency judge

1.) Vampire_of_Death (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?userid=179788)
2.) Yakumo-Dono (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?userid=176860)
3.) Aimsme (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?u=179063)

Emergency Judges

These are the people who volunteer to be the back-ups. If a judge is unable to fulfill his/her duty then the emergency judges fill in. As a last resort, I myself will judge the round. Even if the list is filled, you can always sign up to be an emergency judge. I will just move my name farther from the top.

1.) Haughtysims (http://forums.sims2community.com/member.php?u=176930)
2.)
3.)
4.) Game Shark

Contestants

These people are the blood of the contest. Without them this competition would not be possible. They are the ones who participate in the rounds and can eventually win (a) prize(s). I would love as many people as possible to sign up so that this competition can be interesting. Please though, only drop out unless it is a last resort. A list of contestants will be listed in a post below.

Prizes

Pretty self-explanitory. These are rewards for the winners. Prizes are always needed and welcomed. If you have something you want to donate, do not hesitate to do so. I am still not very good at making sims, or homes and I do not think the contestants want anything of bad quality so your donations are needed. The list of prizes will be listed below with the contestants.

Ooh! I didn't think that it would be approved yet.

I hope you all enjoy the contest! Special Thanks to both HaughtySims and Cinamun who both looked over my idea.

Just a few notes:
Saying that they sent out multiple versions of the device is just my way of saying you can use whatever you want as a time travel device

Also, with exception of the first round every round is going to deal with making changes within your applicants own life.

Secondly, how long will the rounds be?

It will be one trip into the past, however if your sim finds what he/she did made things worse, then you may have a reset button which will put things back to the way they were.

Rounds (if all goes well) will be five days in length

On Wednesday May the First it seemed like a normal day... I was a bit upset, Wednesday May the First had been when I graduated three months early, never to see Walter again. This year... it fell on the same day of the week, and this year I found a pacakge on my front stoop, wrapped in the same wrapping paper Walter had always used. Breathily I tore the entire thing open...

And found a letter from some company testing a time machine. Manufacturing instructions were included, and there I had it... a time machine made of duct tape.

Reassuring ain't it?

Do you think it is chance that you got this letter, or fate?: Chance. Why me, a lady in a dull marraige mooning over her high school sweetheart, as opposed to someone who really needed it? Like the President of the United States? Or someone who could ahve prevented loss of life? It was chance, that I know. But chances are good that I'll take this random occurence and get to live a perfect life!

I hope its OK that shes using first person... and if anything is wrong with that, let me know, and I'll fix it lickety split!

Name: formerly Corrigan, then DeathShadow, now Alvaric Hunter

Age: 287

Short Bio: When the Demon lord Malkoth rose to power one of the first realms to fall was the faerie realm of Aspir. They were given a choice of serving as assassins in the armies of Death, or serving as sacrifices on the altar. At first the missions were more of the sort "We need someone expendable to weaken the opposing forces before the main troops arrive. Take as many attempts as you need, but if the mission is not completed by the time the main force arrives, and you are still alive, you would probably rather not be."
After several successes against difficult odds he finally earned the name DeathShadow. He never failed. When Malkoth was finally defeated DeathShadow quickly realized that anyone who had been one of Malkoth's most loyal and deadly servants was likely to be executed on the spot if he were ever caught. With nothing left to lose he dug out a tome of forbidden magic from the ruins of his master's fortress and cast a spell which sent him adrift through the cosmos.

Hometown: Currently residing in Sedina.

Do you think it was Chance or Fate that you got this?

Fate? What is that? Actions that do not involve a being's Will are random, and therefore Chance. Actions which do involve a being's Will are Choice. So all that happens is a blend of Chance and Choice. There is no such thing as Fate.

When does the application round end? How long is first round gonna take?

Applications will continue until I have 10. I would like to start Wednesday, but who knows.

If I don't have enough applicants I'll probably continue the apps into Round One

I'ld prefer a maximum of 650x550, but I do not remember the picture rules for this forum. If I remember correctly, the size and number rule does no apply here.

If you are going to use a bigger picture, please link it because it annoys me when the page is stretched out.

And worrying that it doesn't seem to be doing so.) But we have people from all over the world around here, so one person's 9 PM on May 6 could be another person's 1 AM on May 5.

Happy birthday!

(The flame jets are ok if you have a nice clear area around them and any sim who decides to toast marshmallows has a way to be saved from death if they get lit on fire. Otherwise they can be disastrous. But mostly they are as safe as a fireplace or a stove owned by a slob with no cooking skill.)

Round One: My History

"The Winners get to write History"

Why hello there darlings! My name is Sarah Battista and I am going to be the one announcing to you what Round One is! Won't that be fun! Now, this round is nto like the others, no sir-ee! This round is differant in the fact that you will be changing something that happened before you lived! Its basically a way for us to test you on how.... well you can make choices! YAY! Now, you must have studied history at one time and thought "What if things had happened differantly?". Now you can see. Choose an event (Whether that be a made up event, an event in the sim world, or a real world event.) and change history. Don't forget to show us the reprecussions! Now I'm sorry but I need to go, toodles!

BONUS ROUND: I'm Baaaack!

Hmmmm....., you have gotten yourself into a pickle. While messing with the time travel device (without clearance I might add) you caused something horrible to happen. The device activated itself, traveled back in time and brought back a famous figure from the past. Thats not good. even worse though, is the fact that he/she has run off and who knows what danger they could get into in this modern world or what they may cause..... This might also have an effect on the present soon, but you don't have time to worry about that! DO SOMETHING FAST!
3-4 Pictures for this bonus and please, try not to do too much as future bonus rounds will most liekly be about this situation

Hi Game Shark.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that I have to drop out. My computer with my Sims currently has a pretty nasty virus. I'm using my old PC (no sims). Going to be a week before I send this to the shop.

It seems to be a fun contest. Good luck to the other contestants. :(

In case you're wondering, I DID have a blast making up these names. W00th.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r1.jpg

The letter didn't arrive until a few days after I first got the time machine. I quickly scanned it over, stunned. Go back in time, in history, and CHANGE it? They wanted us to outright change history? Not that I hadn't planned on it anyway, I'd just assumed I'd have to sneak around to do so...
I put the letter down, mind decided. I didn't care much about things that had happened before my time, but I had to do something. Hoping it wouldn't be too drastic of a change, I knelt down by the machine and clicked 'On'.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r2.jpg

The only way to describe what happened next is to say the machine literally spewed blue light. Not to be gross or anything, but...well, that's what it DID. I only got to spend a few moments contemplating this, though, when an ironically cheerful mechanical voice began to speak.
"Please enter destination." A keyboard flipped out from behind the blue light. I typed in the name.
"Please enter date." Done.
"Before you go, there are a few things to remember. One, you aren't invincible. I can't stress that enough. Please refrain from doing any of the following: jumping out of windows, trying to deflect bullets with your bare hands, or basically anything Superman might try. Second, to return to the present, there are four words you must say. Olly, olly oxen free."
"...olly, olly oxen free?" I repeated, dumbfounded.
"No, no, you say that AFTER you get there!" I sighed and shook my head.
"Got it." The blue light began to become more solid-looking.
"Please step inside when you are ready to go." Tentatively, I reached out my hand...

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r3.jpg

When I opened my eyes, I was in a large theatre, presumably my destination, Gourd's Theatre. I didn't have much time to look around, however, when I noticed my target carrying a suspiciously Halo-looking gun...
Tom Bilkes Wooth. Getting ready to assassinate President Gabe Simcoln. He was standing right outside the door to the president's private booth.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r4.jpg

I knew I didn't have much time. I had to think fast. Unfortunately, thinking isn't exactly my strong point. Which is how I came to be delivering a Chuck-Norris-style roundhouse kick to the face of Bilkes Wooth. I grabbed the gun from him and began to run. "Olly...olly...oxen free!"

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r5.jpg

In a blink of an eye, I was back at home. I took a moment to gather my nerves before running upstairs into Ian's room. "I need you to do some research for me," I said quickly. He shrugged and agreed. "Look up Gabe Simcoln." He stared at me for a minute and then laughed.
"You learn about Simcoln in fifth grade, what do you need a report on him for, now?"
"Just do it!" He sighed and began to search the internet for an article.
"Gabe Simcoln, former president of the United States during the Civil War. Assassinated shortly after..."

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1r6.jpg

I drew back in surprise. Assassinated? But I'd stopped Bilkes Wooth, hadn't I? Did he have another gun? Did he try his plan a second time?
Ian glanced up at me. "...assassinated shortly after his presidency ended. Due to his reconstruction plan being lenient on the south, animosity was lessened, and in 1898, equality was finally reached between African-Americans and white Americans."
Despite the shock, I couldn't help but smile to myself. I'd really done it. I'd changed history.

BONUS ROUND

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1b1.jpg

It was late at night, and I couldn't sleep. I tiredly made my way down the stairs for a glass of water, but stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the time machine. Just for a moment, I found myself wishing I could go back in time, see who I was before I lost my memory. I knelt down and began fiddling with the buttons on the machine. "I won't really do it," I muttered to myself. "I just wanna see if I could."

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1b2.jpg

Suddenly, the machine burst out blue light, pulling me in. I blinked and looked around, startled. And then it clicked...

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1b3.jpg

There was a very familiar assassin, getting ready to blow the brains out a certain president of the United States. I gasped, trying to be quiet, but failing miserably. Bilkes Wooth spun around quickly, his eyes widening when he saw me. "Olly olly oxen free-!" I was barely able to finish the sentence when the man jumped onto my back in what would have been a rather comical fashion, if not for his whole I'm-a-famous-murderer persona.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/spark44/tt1b4.jpg

When I landed home, the first thing I noticed was that my head hurt. I lifted it up slowly, and then I saw the second thing, which put the first to shame.
An open door. A surprisingly fast Tom Bilkes Wooth running into the night.
Oh. Oh, dear.

___
Now, just to make this post even more ungodly long, here's the interesting story behind the blue light. I couldn't get it to look the right color blue, so I decided to ask my mom, who just happened to walk in the room: "Hey, mom, if there was a time machine, what color would it spit?" After clearing up the original confusion, she told me to try a few other colors. The results of which were..."That looks like a ghost. Now it looks like smoke. Now it looks like poison. Ghost again. Oh, now it looks like disaster. Just use the teal-blue." ...thank you, madre!

As I stepped into the time machine I wondered what I might tell my freinds if I came back, and if I didn't create a quantum paradox. "So I opened a package, and there was a time machine, and the first thing I thought of was my boyfreind in high school, but to make sure not to screw up the space time continuum I decided to prevent a naval war in the 1800s." Yes, people would definitely believe that.

I didn't think about it anymore,as the machine engulfed me in sickly green light and well, the fact is, the sensation of going against the current of time is rather like going through a blender. With stones. And ice. Which is not fun.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_1530b7aa.jpg
Once sensation returned, and once I had gotten every expletive I knew out of my system- did I mention I don't like the sensation of time travel?- I looked up. And let out a long low whistle of awe. The castle of modern Euradam, before it was leveled to make a parking lot, was glorious, and I was so glad that I could stand there and see the place in its full glory. Mainly because my house had been a swamp in the 1800s, and I hadn't figured out how to program in locations, so it was a relief that I was by Euradam castle instead of South Sudbury Swamp.

Still, I resolved that when I got home I would read the manual that came with the time machine. The one that had been clearly labeled:
"Oh for the love of god, do not go messing with the fabric of space time without reading this!
MANUAL
Time Machine Model MP061023
PLEASE READ YOU POOR B*STARD"

I never read manuals.

Which was kind of unfortunate, since the time machine was not there, and I was, and... well, yeah. SPOILER ALERT, I lived, and got back to now.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_d530c114.jpg
That said, I noticed there was a necklace around my neck- as opposed to it being around my ankle- and in complete curiosity I rubbed at the little crystal bead hanging off it. And experienced the blender full of ice and shrapnel feeling of time travel, and was home.

So that was the return to the present device. I was questioning the time machine company's business plan at that point as I went back to the past, again. Why is the go back in time model a build it yourself affair, and the return to the present is a tiny, stylish necklace?

I decided not to think about it, it would only give me a headache. On top of the ache of traveling through time. Which feels like going through a blender with ice and rocks. Or have I said that already? I walked into the castle with nary a second thought, and walked to where intimate knowledge of history led me: the top floor of the castle.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_b530ace1.jpg
The room was small, intimate, cozy. A pair of plushy couches were there, seperated by a table laden with papers and a small bottle of wine.

Actually, no. I'll tell you about this war I was trying to stop, as judging by the confused pestering of my daughter as she reads this over my shoulder this is not famous. The great country of Euradam had had its sea trade routes plagued by the pirate nation of Serpus, but everyone called them the pirates. So it was the Euradam-Pirate war. The ultimate cause, other than the rampant piracy, the firebombing and a couple other boring peices of history was when King Araneus asked the pirate lord to a treaty meeting, and refused to let the Serpus be an independent trade state. That and King Araneus got drunk and made a pass at the pirate lord's wife. So the Euradam Pirate war raged for two decades, killing thousands, and leading to hundreds of ships being destroyed. It only ended when a peaceful pirate village was bombed- the one that contained the pirate lord's wife. Heart broken he ceded Serpus to King Araneus, and disappeared forever.

My daughter says that that is acceptably complete, but my story is no longer interesting. Stupid teenager.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_d530b321.jpg
Meanwhile, back in the far past, I stood behind the bar in appropraite period dress, watching, waiting, for the moment for me to act to come. The pirate lord made his request.

Araneus laughed.

The lord's face darkened. He spoke darkly, "Your majesty, this can get much uglier than it is now."

Araneus nodded. "Undoubtedly."

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_d530b379.jpg
The pirate lord's face got even darker, fury lending a horrifying cast to his pleasantly sharp features. He was about to speak, to declare war, and I ran heedless from behind the bar. The uniform rubbed at the pendant, the time machine, and I felt my usual clothes returning. I was afraid, would the great pirate lord believe some woman, who, by the standards of the time, was dressed as a strumpet?

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_7530b3cc.jpg
I spoke softly, "Sir, please, think of your wife. If Euradam and the Pirates wage war, she could die. So could everyone else. what chances do you have to win? Please, save your people's lives, save your wife's, please-"

If anything his face got darker and he said curtly, "Whoever you are, leave, we are discussing matters of state." I stood up glumly to go, already rubbing the pendant, and behind me I could see a small softening of the pirate lord's features, and a look of blatant terror on Araneus's face at my apparition and sudden change of clothes.

It didn't matter, the pirate lord had heard. I didn't know if he'd listened, but he'd heard. That was what was important.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_1530c730.jpg
I arrived back home under a fruit tree, feeling my muscles whine at the agaony of time travel I had visited on them so often this night. It was like going through a blender filled with rocks and ice. Most unpleasant. Did I mention recently that I really do not like time travel?

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_5530c7b8.jpg
I walked inside and there was my house, just as I'd left it. There was my bookshlef. There was the manual I had carelessly shelved. There was that elegant green volume, A Complete History of Euradam. I gently cracked it open to the chapter about the Euradam-Pirate war. It was still there and I made a small distressed noise in the back of my throat. The pirate lord had not declared war that night. Instead, he had been assasinated. His son had taken over and declared war as revenge for his father's death. This war had lasted just as long as the first, down to the day, and only ended when the new pirate lord died. The irony nearly killed me.

I was depressed then, I hadn't stopped a war, I hadn't saved thousands of lives, and then I remebered, just as glumly that I had decided to read the manual for the time machine. The book was about 300 pages long. 279 were warnings to never use the technology. The rest was an explanation of how the machine worked- it split the traveler's atoms down into photons which can travel freely in all parts and directions of the space time continuum, that new photons can be picked up, that major changes would not occur because the energy required to make a completely new set of circumstances was greater than required to twist the old situation. Despite everything I smiled at that. Entropy in time travel.

I lazily flipped the next page and out fell a note. Curious, I picked it up and then froze. It was my handwriting. It was dated a week later than today. I muttered an expletive, I, no my future self, must have traveled back to give me this note.
You're sad now. The manual is wrong, you can change the present!
Though for you it would be the future, I think.
Don't get upset, just remeber Walter, and don't let the stupid blender feeling get you down Elise.
I mean me, no I mean I, gah you know what I mean.
-Elise Eventually

I was infuriated that I had had the nerve to write such a condescending letter to myslef. I wanted to throttle my stupid future self's snide neck, but I decided not to, my far future self might need said neck.

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff207/AmyLyis/sims/contests/time%20travel/snapshot_f529c39b_d530c6c8.jpg
So I slowly walked outside and sat under the tree to sulk. I did not want my husband's kind, over enthusiastic ministrations, I did not want my daughter's careful acting like she cared or her biting sarcasm. I just wanted to scream. So I did.

I howled as long and as loud as I could, and then I saw the time machine flash quickly bright green, and out stepped a knight in shining armor. I screamed again, this time in fear, and the knight walked over to stand near me for a moment. My shriek died in my throat, and the knight nodded, bowed and walked off.

Screaming again wouldn't do any good, and I had just set loose a very medieval creature on my twenty first century town. Stupid photons clogging up my time machine.

There it was. Tori stood gleefully in front of the time machine model that she had received. God, was it beautiful. It had taken her over a week to complete the damn thing, but by god, she finished it, and it was beautiful. The beautiful blue glass that would encase the inhabitant of the machine shone in the midday sun, and the golden doors gleamed with excitement, ready to admit a traveler for the first time journey.

Tori was ready as well. She had received the letter with her instructions for her first task just a few days earlier, and ever since Tori had been bursting to begin her epic journey. And now she would be able to finally embark.

She breathed in, pressing the button on the elevator. A small ding sounded as the golden doors slid to the side, revealing the inside of the time capsule. Tori took a deep breath before stepping inside, letting the door close behind her. She turned around, looking at the array of buttons before pushing the ones that would take her to her destination.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillestimemachinemadness.jpg

Suddenly Tori felt her stomach drop to her toes as the time machine shot into the sky. She was plastered to one of the glass sides of the small capsule. Her heart was pounding, and the time machine shook as if it was going to explode. Tori wanted to scream, but no voice sounded from her throat. She was terrified; her eyes watered as the tears flew to the ceiling.

But, unexpectedly, a loud crack and a bright flash later, the time machine came to a grinding halt. Tori was thrown to the floor and sat confused, staring at the door.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillestorifell.jpg

What in God’s name have I gotten myself into? Tori shook her head as she shakily got up, eyes closed for a moment as she tried to contain the contents of her stomach. She finally opened her eyes and almost screamed at what she saw.

Tori's hair was curled neatly and sat neatly on her shoulders, and she wore a 20s style flapper dress. Holy smokes! It worked! I’m in 1919!

Why 1919? The main purpose of Tori’s journey into the past was something that had always made her angry as she studied the world wars: the Treaty of Versailles of 1919. Tori believed that WWII could have been stopped (or at least the casualties lessened) if Germany hadn’t been so beaten down in the Treaty. She didn’t know how she would change it, but she would try.

She stepped from the time machine, looking around at the dark room she had landed in. It was full of construction equipment and a scaffold, but no real apparent door. She sighed, stepping up to some boxes and running her hand across the top of them before touching the wall.

To her surprise, a hole began to form in the wall. Tori stepped back in show, watching a black and white picture form in front of her.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillesholeinwallmaaaagic.jpg

I wonder who he is... Tori squinted, trying to make out the face that was probably a member of the Council of Four. He seemed confused and slightly angry, but his face was angled in such a way that Tori couldn’t make him out. But then he looked up, and Tori gasped. It’s Woodrow Wilson!

There was only one problem with the picture now: President Woodrow Wilson was looking up and directly at her with a look of pure terror.

Tori acted quickly and pretty much without thinking; she climbed through the hole and walked over to Wilson, trying to remain composed and trying to map out what she would say.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillestoriintroanddesc.jpg

Tori stood with a blank look on her face as Wilson’s eyes grew wide and his finger continually pointed at her. “Who are you?! Why was there a hole in the wall and where did it go?! How did you even get in here in the first place?!

“Sir, I’m here to warn you against accepting something that will alter the future forever,” Tori interjected, “I’m here to prevent a Second World War from occurring, sir.”

Wilson’s left eyebrow raised with question (and shock, no doubt). “You mean to tell me that you know something more than I about what the consequences of a treaty here today would be?”

Tori nodded slowly. “Sir, you ‘must’ push your Fourteen Points, and you must push them hard. France and Britain are only concerned with revenge and reparations from Germany without seeing that Germany has no plausible way to even dream of meeting France and Britain’s insane demands. You have to be the one who gives the voice of reason; you have to be the one who looks to the future in order to prevent a Second World War.”

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versailleswilsonconsiders.jpg

Wilson stood with his hand to his chin, pondering for a moment about a response. “If you can give me one plausible reason to believe you, then by all means I will do what you have asked of me.”

Tori stood firmly and gave her response without missing a beat. “Sir, it’s not believing what I’ve said that will change your mind here today. It’s what you see fit in your own heart that will change the outcome of history for the better, not just for Germany, but for everyone.”

Wilson smiled. “You are a very wise woman, and a very mysterious one at that. I’m impressed by your judgment, and I believe that I am going to take everything you have said to heart when I enter the council room again.”

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillestorihappy.jpg

Tori broke out in a large toothy grin. “Thank you so much, Mr. President! I assure you, you will not regret this decision.” Tory ran back to where the hole she climbed through had been. The hole reappeared, and Tori immediately climbed through.

The hole closed, and Wilson smiled slightly, his hands in his pockets. “I certainly hope so.”

Tori ran frantically back to the time machine, ready to go home and see if her attempt at a change for the future (or rather, her past) really worked. One rather uncomfortable time machine trip later, she was back in her side yard and back in her normal clothes. Still smiling Tori ran up the back stairs and into her living room, quickly sitting down at the computer desk, hands moving like wildfire over the keyboard.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/versaillestorisurfing.jpg

Almost immediately she pulled up the government’s American history website, finding the link to the world timeline. Clicking it, she held her breath for the results.

The page loaded, and Tori scrolled to the 1919 section. Her heart leaped when she saw the caption for 1919: “Fourteen Points adopted at council in Versailles.” I did it! Wilson believed me! However, her eyes were drawn at the same time to a few other things on the timeline. ‘Oh my goodness…’

“The Great Depression: 1929 to mid 1940s; ended with beginning of arms race.”

“German Nazi Radical Hitler rampage across Germany: Sept. 1930 to July 1932. Assassinated by German nationalists.”

“Cold War: Mid 1940s to 1998; ended with MAD alliance after atomic bomb malfunction in Moscow.”

Tori turned off the computer monitor and, after closing her eyes, sat back in her chair and sighed heavily. “I thought this would be easy... but at least things aren’t ‘that’ bad...” Tori rose from her chair to go down to the kitchen. She needed something to drink. Apparently changing history had more repercussions than she thought.

BONUS ROUND

Tori couldn’t sleep, not with the time machine sitting in her side lawn. I really need to jump on hiding that better... Tori shook her head as she rose from her bed and, after putting on a grey flannel dress and flats, headed downstairs. She went to the side door, staring at it for only a moment before opening the door slowly, hearing the door’s squealing for oil in its hinges. Tori ignored its please, simply stepping down the steps and finally finding herself face-to-face with the strange contraption.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/BONUStoristares.jpg

There it was. It taunted her, enticed her to try and use it for her own selfish wants. She felt as if she was in a staring contest with the inanimate glass box, the glass shining in the moonlight and alluring her, tempting her to step inside. Tori closed her eyes. I can’t. The manual said that if it registered unauthorized use of the time machine that terrible things would happen.

Tori’s hand went to her chin, rubbing it slowly as she looked at the machine. “Well,” she spoke softly aloud, “I mean, who’s going to be watching at this time of night...” Tor slowly reached her pointer finger to the button that shone an eerie green, almost a warning against her daring at this illegitimate journey.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/BONUStoripushes.jpg

Tori’s finger finally compressed the button, and after a moment the doors slowly slid to the sides. Tori breathed in cautiously before stepping inside, the doors closing behind her. She turned around, looking to the panel that would determine her destination. After inputting the date, she held her breath, waiting for the jolting start.

However, the time machine did not start right away. Tori released her held in breath, looking at the panel. The date read correctly, and all systems told her that the machine should have been working... but what was confli-

Suddenly Tori felt a jolt. She was thrown against the wall again, confused and now in pain. The whirling sensation overtook her body again as she watched the swirling blue colors travel all around her. She actually heard herself screaming, a scary something that had not happened on her trip before. It was even scarier because Tori’s mouth wasn’t open, and she wasn’t speaking at all.

Tori looked out of the sides of the glass all around her. The time she had requested to go to was all around her, swirling violently with the blue color of time travel. Tori saw all of the things she remembered from her past and finally spotted the one thing (rather, person) she had traveled to the past to see. His hair was black as onyx and small pools of ocean were bottled into the irises of his eyes. She tried to move, to reach out for him, but suddenly his face vanished, only to be replaced with the scream that haunted her dreams. Tori covered her ears, trying to block out the ear-splitting screams, but to no avail; her sight went black, and she fell unconscious to the ground.

The time machine came to a grinding halt back in Tori’s side yard; the door flew open, expelling Tori from the machine and on her back. However, unbeknownst to Tori (but beknownst to us), the machine made one stop before going back to its home. And now, from the glass capsule stepped a Roman vixen dressed in hues of pink and brown, hair tied into a sectioned tail that sat lightly on her breast.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e365/DarthKaedo/contest/BONUSromanescapes.jpg

Tori would wake three hours later to find the woman in her kitchen, opening and closing the refrigerator door. And the finding would terrify her.

Ooh, pretty black-and-white! o.o Great entry!

On another note, all of our sims are kinda made of fail, huh? Not one so far has been able to completely change the outcome of certain events. xD

Actually I wanted my sim to succeed, change the history of the world, create a horrifying temporal paradox, then see the only possible solution- go back in time and kill herself (the one that had gone in time the first time, not herself, there'd be a duplicate y'see... [paradoxes are confusing....]) to save the status quo. But I couldn't figure out how to photograph a temporal paradox, and I was too lazy to rebuild her house

Alvaric finished studying the letter and the instruction manual. Then he turned and commented to his apple tree "I think this proves they had no idea who they were sending this to. Assassins don't learn history because it's not something Malkoth thought we needed to know. Fairies don't learn history because we have no real concept of time. Heck, I had to be completely shattered 3 times before I learned enough about time to be able to remember that if the sun is shining, the vampires are not going to be interested in anything less important than "your coffin is on fire." So assuming that I have already decided on an event I would like to change is kind of silly. Unless they were talking about what if Malkoth had been defeated instead of conquering us? But that was in a different world. And I was a child and they are specifically saying it has to be from before I was born. So that doesn't qualify to be changed. Too bad: I wish I could change it."

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/4905/researchqv8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

His apple tree seemed to share his amusement. He smiled. "Well, I suppose it's time to expand my flight paths." Since his horse was happily grazing, he decided to fly to the library. He studied book after book. "Boring!" Even Worse!" "This one adds a whole new depth to the concept of boring!" "Does anybody ever really read any of these?"

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1503/libraryix3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Finally he found one he liked. After reading it, he decided that this was the one he wanted to change. Ignoring the librarians carefully concealed look of amusement he checked out "How We Lost our Immortality" and flew home with it.

Now to set the co-ordinates.

"Please enter your date"

"Umm she isn't here right now. Would the bunch of roses from the last time we were together work, or am I supposed to ask you out?"

"Date meaning Temporal Co-ordinates. Not a romantic outing."

"Oh. Sorry, I'm still new to this whole 'time' concept." He checked the beginning of the book. "In the Three Hundred Twenty Fourth year of Queen Salemmis. And we had better make it twelve days before the elves lost their immortality."

"Are you sure about those co-ordinates?!"

"Well, that is what the book says... Do you suppose we should add a few extra days onto that?"

"No, that should work properly. (If it works at all.) Here is your return amulet; do not lose it; Initiating transfer in 5-4-3-2-1-Now!"

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/1041/goodmorninggz1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Several hours later Queen Salemmis of the elves and King Richard Gryphonheart of Dale both awoke to find themselves lying in the middle of a forest near a pond. Suspended over the pond was a bottle. A voice behind them announced "Hello! I'm trying very hard not to be an assassin named DeathShadow, but unfortunately that was the training I needed at the moment. Sorry. That bottle is the antidote for the poison I gave you while you were asleep, but you are going to need to co-operate to be able to get it.

King Richard turned to the elven queen. "Is this one of thy tricks? I have already agreed to seal my son in his bedchamber to prevent him from taking the Test of Ages and earning the right to marry your daughter. What more dost thou need from me?"

"Oh Cool! So that part of the book really was accurate. Would you two mind just quickly drifting over it and see how much of the rest is true? Especially the part that hasn't happened yet." Alvaric tossed the book to them.

Queen Salemmis glanced at it. "Why this is naught but a children's book!"

"I was wondering why it wasn't as boring as the rest of them. Does this mean that neither of you are real?"

King Richard quietly whispered "Methinks this creature is mad."

Alvaric glared at him for a moment, then nodded. "I probably -am- mad. But either way, wouldn't it be in your best interest to just fly with the prevailing wind? At least until something changes?"

The queen nodded. "How long do we have before it will be too late for the antidote?" Alvaric shrugged. "You're asking a fairy about time? When your extremities begin to tingle you need the antidote immediately. That's the best I can tell you. But I still need to know if the part that hasn't happened yet is true?"

The king angrily stood up. "How in the bloody blue blazes are we supposed to know that?! If it has not yet happened, it has not yet happened. No-one can know the future!"

The queen sighed. "I can foresee future events. This was why I was opposed to Amariel's marriage to Michael. She would have died giving birth to a half-human child, and I could not bear the loss. But this! According to this book, once she learned that it was not Michael's choice to abandon her she chose to surrender her immortality to spend a few short years with him rather than an eternity without him. In that place and time, her choice became binding on all elves. Stripped of our immortality, we became mad and made war against the humans, thus losing forever the right to reclaim our immortality. The humans were confined to pockets of barbarians whose population must be carefully controlled to avoid allowing them to become strong enough to resume fighting."

Alvaric nodded. "That's what the world looked like when I left. It's what I'm trying to fix."

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/39/fateul3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

A tear fell from the queen's eye. "So I am condemned to lose my only child. Fate shall take her from me, no matter what I do!"

Alvaric shook his head. "Nope!" he handed her another bottle. "Something I stole from another world before I left. It replenishes itself from happy memories, and restores life when used. Save your daughter with it. I've got more."

The king gazed at him. "Thou art a most peculiar assassin. Wouldst thou mind fetching the antidote for us now? I believe my fingers are beginning to tingle."

Alvaric flew up and tossed the bottle to them.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6950/elixirkm2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

"So. Michael is going to marry Amariel. You are going to use the Elixir of Life to save her when she has her child. Elves and humans will develop a better co-operation with each other. And I don't have to start killing everybody who stands in the way of that. Right?"

Both nodded. "Agreed"

"Good. I'm staying until after the wedding, just to make sure." He became invisible, and flew off.

Once the wedding was over he activated the amulet and returned home. It was amazing! Humans and elves bouncing ideas off each other had invented some of the most amazing things! There were boxes of metal which acted as a home for tamed lightning. It could play games, track finances, and even produce shows! Tamed lightning was used to light homes! And there were even carriages that propelled themselves! Some of them even FLEW! And all of these amazing inventions worked to nurture the world as well! And best of all, the newspaper was announcing that Queen Amariel and King Michael were having a gala celebration in honor of their fifth child coming of age on the 1000th anniversary of their wedding.

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/5776/coolec0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

He turned to his apple tree again. "Ok, so maybe they did know what they were doing?"

Bonus:

As Alvaric studied the device to see if it would even be possible to try to prevent Malkoth from conquering a faerie realm in another world, his horse came over and investigated the machine. As he turned to shoo the horse away, he accidentally bumped the dial.

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/698/oopsak1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

There was a burst of light and "Initiating transfer in 5-4-3" Quickly reaching for the dial again he tried to shut it down. As it began to subside, there was a flash of light, then an inky black hole opened and a very familiar figure fell out of it. Malkoth. Arch-Demon of Death. Who was smiling at him. Alvaric fell to his knees and gave what he hoped looked like a glad smile.

Malkoth laughed. "My ever resourceful servant DeathShadow. You have found a way to restore me to power! Even the void of the Outer Darkness was not enough to hold me! Well Done, my faithful servant! You shall be rewarded greatly for this deed today!"

Alvaric nodded. "Yes, Master. Umm... About that..."

http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/7021/ummmhellomasterhu0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

"Never fear, Deathshadow. I am still somewhat weakened by my ordeal at the hands of those blasted elves and their foolish human allies, but this is a world in which Death holds sway. Even now I can feel it strengthening me. I shall build myself a place of power and feed on the lesser lives available to me, while you hunt out beings of power to bring to me for sacrifice."

"Yes, Master." He bowed. "I would be honored if you would make your residence here with me."

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/5163/stayherecj4.jpg

Malkoth shook his head. "No, my servant. You have too much Life around you. I shall find for myself a place of Death and make my dwelling there." He laughed again, and with a loud shout of "Death Conquers ALL!" he flew off toward the mountains.

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/7714/timetochooselb4.jpg

Alvaric sighed. There goes any hope of catching him while he is distracted and finding a way to reverse the machine to put him back where he came from.

Now I have a choice to make. I can serve him, or I can oppose him.
If I serve him, and he wins, He will become a virtual god, and I will become like he is now. And my trees would never speak to me again. And probably not my horse either.
If I serve him, and he loses, I will either be killed or I will be exiled from a second home.
If I oppose him and he wins, he will sacrifice me and become virtually unstoppable.
If I oppose him and he loses, I'll be a hero. Which is the only outcome on that list that sounds like any fun at all.

But I doubt that I'm powerful enough to defeat him on my own. It took three whole armies to defeat him last time, so even if he is badly weakened it is not likely that one lone fairy can manage it this time.

Unfortunately this was another event that occurred after I was born, so it doesn't qualify for fixing either.... They really should have thought twice about entrusting a time travel device to a creature who doesn't believe in Time!

~Round 1~

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_b534860e.jpg
Because I won our paper-rock-scissors contest, I got to decide where to time travel to. And something I have always wanted to see is Victorian London. So after we dragged the traveltub into the living room and I had picked up the phone, a horrible female voice spoke out of the speaker.
“Welcome! I’m Lynette, your pilot for this flight. Where can I take you?” the voice said with it’s high and overly friendly tone.
“Hey, eeeh… how does this works??”
“Ugh! You just step in the tub and say where you want to go. It’s not that hard” The voice said now slightly irritated.
“Okay, I’d like to go to Victorian London”
“As you wish, please step into the tub”

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_153487ee-copy.jpg
After Dad and I stepped into the tub, it started to shake and a cold wind appeared out of nothing. You could feel the wind everywhere around your body, even the private parts. It felt like thousands of needles pinched trough your skin. Then the tub came from the ground and flew right into the air.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_15346bcb.jpg
Meters above the ground the tub stopped going up and fell down with a giant speed. The tub made an unpleasant sound when it hit the stone ground. A few seconds after that, dad and I hit the hard solid ground.
“Here we are, Victorian London ” Lynette (Ough! I’m naming a talking tub) said
“Can’t we travel with more comfort ” dad asked
“Yes, but that costs extra. The company doesn’t want to give Deluxe time machines to test subjects”
“Stupid company” dad sighted

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_75346cc5-copy.jpg
While dad an Lynette were discussing about how great an how horrible the company was, I was still recovering from the fall.
Then, in the middle of a sentence about great company lunches, a terrifying scream came out of the building next to us.
“What was that??” me and Lynette said in perfect symphony
“I don’t know” dad answered, he walked towards the big wooden door and was surprised when it was already opened. I followed him shortly after.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_15346e0c-copy.jpg
The hallway of the house was an old wooden stairs, it looked as old as the ceiling what showed big cracks and the walls witch looked like they would fall apart each moment. When we walked up the stairs witch made a squeaking sound every step you’d take.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_d5346ec0-copy.jpg
Just behind the stairs was a door, a little light beam showed and if you’d listen very closely, you could hear a woman cry. The out of nothing, another scream appeared, someone fell on the ground. Dad and I rushed towards the door but it wouldn’t open. I took a distance from the door, ran towards it and hit it with my shoulder. The door moved a little, and with dad doing the same, the door flew open.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_15347635-copy.jpg
What we saw inside was horrible, a small build man in an expensive soot and grey hat stood over a woman’s body. The slim man almost hit her in the face, but he turned towards us just before he had the change. His eyes were light grey and cold and he had no expression in his face. Another cry and we looked towards a corner in the room, a woman in a big but revealing green dress stood there crying. She looked towards the ground an didn’t move with any sound.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_5534774d-copy.jpg
Dad and I rushed towards the man. He took a attacking position and made fists of his hands. He tried to hit me but his fist missed my cheek with an inch. I took his right arm and hold it under my arm, dad took his left arm. We hit him hard in his chest and he fell on his knees. Then dad took a oil lamp and smashed it on the man’s head. The man directly blacked out and lay motionless on the floor.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_1534785c-copy.jpg
A little paper was sticking out of the pocket of the man. I took it out and opened the little brown paper, it was addressed towards the police. I read the in red written letter and I was stunned, this was what it said:

Dear Boss,

I keep on hearing the police have caught me but they wont fix me just yet. I have laughed when they look so clever and talk about being on the right track. That joke about Leather Apron gave me real fits. I am down on whores and I shant quit ripping them till I do get buckled. Grand work the last job was. I gave the lady no time to squeal. How can they catch me now. I love my work and want to start again. You will soon hear of me with my funny little games. I saved some of the proper red stuff in a ginger beer bottle over the last job to write with but it went thick like glue and I cant use it. Red ink is fit enough I hope ha. ha. The next job I do I shall clip the ladys ears off and send to the police officers just for jolly wouldn't you. Keep this letter back till I do a bit more work, then give it out straight. My knife's so nice and sharp I want to get to work right away if I get a chance. Good Luck. Yours truly
Jack the Ripper

Dont mind me giving the trade name

PS Wasnt good enough to post this before I got all the red ink off my hands curse it No luck yet. They say I'm a doctor now. ha ha

I can’t believe this was real, we had just saved this women from Jack the Ripper.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_153479a8-copy.jpg
Meanwhile, my dad had picked the lady from the ground, she had a big cut on her chin and was shaking.
“Oh, thank you for saving us gentlemen. He was going to kill us and you saved us” the woman said with an slight accent
“No thanks miss. May I ask what is you name??”
“My name is Elizabeth Stride, sir. The name of the lady in the corner is Catharine Edowwes”
“My name is Willem van den Pol and that’s my son, Dim”

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_b5335c3d_f53479e9-copy.jpg
“Dad!!” is shouted
His head turned away from the lady called Elizabeth “What is it??”
“We have just beaten Jack the Ripper! Isn’t that great??” is asked
“Jack the Ri….” And then he fainted

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_553489fe.jpg
2 hours Later

After Elizabeth and I had calmed Catherine down and dragged dad into the tub, we went home just before the police arrived. At home, I sprinted to my computer and searched for Jack the Ripper. Nothing showed up.
I typed in the name Elizabeth Stride, I ended up with a few pages about 2 prostitutes who had captured a beginning serial killer. The man had been sentenced to life and Elizabeth Stride had become an author of stories, for the biggest part about murder. The leading characters in all her books were called Inspector William van the Poll and his son Dim. I felt really good for stopping an notorious serial killer.

Sunday 11 AM

After a very successful time travel there was nothing to do. And now I’m bored.
I’ve been lying on this couch watching for an hour now, and I still don’t have anything to do.
And the only thing more interesting to do than helping my father with his new book, (My Life as a DinosaurPhobic) is to time travel. But dad an I agreed that we wouldn’t use the time machine for our own pleasure, or it would cost me a lot of money.
But who cares!! I’m a teenager, we do stuff wrong all the time.

Pic 2 (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_75348d47.jpg)
“What? I’m trying to take a rest” Lynette’s voice spread out the telephone
“Do time machines need rest?” I asked
“No, would that matter?” again irritated
“No…, I guess not” I stumbled “I think I actually don’t want to disturb you”
“What??” she sounded angry to “Wake me for nothing? I wont take that!!”
“I’m sorry, didn’t’ mean it like that”
“Oh, I’ll take you back boy. Pfff!! Wake me for nothing ” and the phone hang up (itself!)

Pic 3 (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_55348ee8-copy.jpg)
A moment later, a huge wind came out of nothing and I flew trough the air. I saw a men appear in the tub in an old fashioned robe. I hit the ground and the wind disappeared. I was still cursing Lynette and rubbing my painful butt when I heard 3 distinctive Latin words.

Pic 4 (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/kipsnif/snapshot_f52df483_b5348e4b.jpg)
“Veni, vidi, vici…” the man said, apparently not very happy with what he saw around him “What is this?? This doesn’t look like the senate ” he wondered “Who has taken the great Julius Caesar to this odd place??” and he looked at me.
“Julius Caesar??” I asked myself while looking at him standing up “Oh sh*t!”

~PS~

Okay, the story doesn't really fit because of a few things
-The letter Dim finds is already send before either of this woman were murdered (Found that out after making the story and the pictures :bag: )
- The latest thing about Elizabeth becoming an author would be really strange as most poor people couldn't write or read (needed to do something with her)
- And please don't really watch grammar and stuff to closely, because English isn't my first language :P

Hey, in a world where you can change history, Jack the Ripper having the letter in his pocket because he had been planning to steal money for postage (as one final bit of irony) makes just as much sense.

Elizabeth might have had a better background, but was forced onto the streets by an event in her past. Saving her life was the inspiration she needed to start a new life and stop feeling sorry for herself.

In other words, don't worry about being accurate to events in this world. It's not our world the story is taking place in; it's theirs. And that was a great story!

PS: I've seen people who only speak English whose spelling and grammar are worse than yours. Your English is very good!

Totally random here, but this is what the character that inspired me to create Alvaric looked like. Except that I had been playing Death and had cleared the Great Temple of Air, so the health bar and outline was purplish black, and the number over his head was usually 2.

I'm having two bad teeth pulled tomorrow morning, and have been warned that I may not feel up to doing much of anything for the next several days after that.

I really want to continue with this contest, so I am not officially dropping out. But I thought I should let you know in case I can't make it.

Great story, kipsnif! And I really wouldn't worry about the spelling/grammar- there's supposedly 'intelligent' people with English as a first language who make far more mistakes than you did there.

BTW, in two weeks I have a fortnight of exams, so I'll only be able to get a little bit of online stuff done. If there's a round close during then, I may or may not be able to get the judging done.

Round Two

"All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.”

Sorry for the delay everyone. Sarah, the person who announced the first round turned out to be taking an overdose of medication everyday in the bathroom. Needless to say she was let go. Anyways, I will be announcing the rounds from now on. My name is Michael by the way. So, as you guessed the second round "My Bad" will be centered around an error that you have always wanted to correct.
Oh don't lie! We have all made mistakes in our lives, whether that be getting that tattoo on your face or accidentally killing a man while drunk........... *sigh. Back on topic, we at Sim Development want to see how you try to fix a mistake of your choice and how it affects the future. Don't worry if it goes wrong, there is always that reset button..... and everything on our property is not affected by Time Travel so if you cannot reset it, we will.

Bonus Round: Future Shock
Well, haven't you gotten yourself into an even bigger pickle. That person you accidentally brought back...... yeah. He/She is making a mess of things. He/She has managed to wander into a crowded area and making a scene. This has the potential to get really ugly really fast if you do not do something....... although, it could be interesting to see how people react to see their favorite (or least favorite) historical figure. Do you want to get him/her out of there, or do you want to see how hilarious future shock can be.

NOTES: May or May not be added

I was wondering if there is a limit on the length of an entry? Alvaric has a rather extensive history, since I have been playing him for almost 6 months and had given him a rather elaborate history before that. So as I was writing the story for round two and trying to show both what did happen originally and what is now happening it got rather long. (Ok, VERY long!)

I was wondering if I'm going to need to try to find more places to cut it, because I'm starting to run out of things that can be cut without hurting it too much.

Well, I'm posting my Round 2 now. It's long, but I hope it is entertaining. (It used to be longer.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alvaric grinned as he read the newest letter. Just as he was about to set the machine to go back to last week and prevent himself from accidentally bringing Malkoth to this world he paused.

Even if he was fixing a mistake he had made himself, saving the world from destruction would make him a hero. But doing it like this would mean that nobody would know he was a hero. Even if more people would die by letting things go on as they are and trying to stop Malkoth the hard way, he was confident that his skills were enough to protect the few people he actually did care about. And the rest didn't matter. They could take care of themselves, or they could die. It wouldn't bother him much either way. And then he could be a hero and have people know he was a hero.

He sat down and tried to think of a different mistake he wanted to fix. It was somewhat hard for him, because he lived by the philosophy that "Now" is all there is, and the only thing you really need to remember about mistakes is what you need to do differently the next time.

Getting advice on his love life from an apple tree? But I don't mind, she doesn't mind, and the horse doesn't mind. So anybody who does mind can mind their own business. If we end up with a centaur kid, I'll teach him to shape-shift.

Letting myself be trained as an assassin in the first place? But the other option was to be sacrificed. Living is more fun. Besides, there is a bit of fun involved in being an assassin. Ok, the lessons on interrogation and torture were not fun. Especially when we got to the part about withstanding it. But the hunting part could be fun.

What if I warned my father the night before Malkoth invaded so he couldn't have caught everybody by surprise?

I would have been patted on the head and told to go back to sleep and stop worrying about my bad dream, because the monsters aren't real. I wasn't even old enough for school yet. Nobody would have listened to me. Vampires were just something out of legend until Malkoth showed up with nine of them that either captured or drank everybody they encountered.

The incident with the Amazon Princess? Ok, so that mistake wasn't mine. But maybe it should have been....

Smiling, he turned and set the co-ordinates on the machine.

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1441/activationyt3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

"As you cancelled the last manual entry for co-ordinates in this range, I will ask for confirmation. Are you sure about these co-ordinates?"

He nodded. "Yep. I'm certain."

"You do realize that this is pertaining to a different world, do you not?"

"Yes. I was there. Malkoth was torturing the queen of the Amazons by forcing her to watch as her people were dragged in and sacrificed. I had managed to do something that was considered impossible and captured her daughter. The queen surrendered rather than watch her daughter be sacrificed. Once Malkoth had the Amazon seal of power, he tried to sacrifice both of them anyway, but the princess got away from him and managed to forge an alliance that ultimately defeated him. Fortunately, I was still "too lowly" to be allowed to assist with the sacrifices, so the one who got the blame for the princess' escape was one of his Dark Elves.

But what if I had secretly helped her?"

"Very well. Initiating transfer in 5-4-3-2-1-Now!"

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/3656/splashnc3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

He was at the campsite he had made the first night after capturing the princess. It was early morning. Time to drug her for the day's journey. As he forced the liquid into her mouth he quietly whispered to her. "You have no reason to trust me, but if all goes well, there is a very slim chance that you will be able to save your mother. Let the drug work, and learn to mimic the effects. You've been trained as a ranger, so you shouldn't have trouble taking advantage of opportunities that blow in."
She just glared at him and tried to spit in his face. After checking to be sure he was not being watched by anyone other than the princess he took a bag of rations from his pouch, ate a few bites, then dropped the rest into the princess's hand.

"Last night you were very insistant that you don't waste food on corpses. What's in this?"

He grinned at her. "Last night I knew we were probably being watched. At the moment, we aren't. Eat it fast, though. We will be getting company in an hour or two. And don't trust me, or this won't work."

"That's not a problem. You're a male, you're an enemy, and your whole race was known for your skill at deception and love of trickery even before you were lost to the darkness. I would trust Malkoth himself before trusting the likes of you!"

But she did eat the food.

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/416/swampbo9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

When they had finished their breakfast and the drug had been given a chance to start working he began travelling at a grueling pace toward Malkoth and the Temple of Death. Soon a voice came from the trees nearby. "So it's true! A butterfly has the Amazon princess! But since you people don't like the toxic swamps much, I think I will pull rank and join you. You can make better progress if you wait until nightfall to make camp instead of stopping at the first safe spot you find."
He already paid for that 'butterfly' comment. It just hasn't happened again yet. And at this time he really does have rank enough to get away with this. Don't antagonize him, or the escape of the princess will be my fault, not his. Alvaric smiled at him. "Hello Anoquil. Your help is greatly appreciated."

Anoquil gave him a patronizing look. "A few more successes like this one, and you may earn a name for yourself."

Yes. I did. When you failed and I didn't fail. And now I'm working on getting rid of it. Alvaric smiled and bowed to him. "I certainly hope so. Shall we continue? I don't want to delay Lord Malkoth's pleasure any longer than we have to."

They reached the edge of the swamp that afternoon, and spotted movement in the distance. Anoquil turned to him. "Hey, butterfly. We have a rescue party coming. You go deal with it while I finish dragging the princess to her doom. And don't worry, I'll be sure to give you the proper credit." Alvaric bowed to him and flew off.

It's not a rescue party. It's a company of knights who just took holy vows and are on a crusade to hunt the forces of Evil. And this time I think I have something better to do than just capturing or killing them all. Carefully coating the heads of his arrows with the drug they used to keep prisoners docile while being transported, he waited in ambush. When the knights came into range, he attacked with his drugged arrows. They had all fallen before any of them could even determine where the attack was coming from. Alvaric spotted one of Malkoth's gargoyle bats that were used as scouts and messengers.

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3861/capturefq6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

"Inform Lord Malkoth that I have three knights from Logos for sacrifice, and two more available if assistance is sent. I am not strong enough to transport all five."

The bat squeaked and flew off. A few minutes later it returned and sent Alvaric a telepathic message that no further assistance was available, so he should execute the least desirable prisoners and return with the other three.

Alvaric nodded. "Anoquil was certain that there was a rescue party following him and the Amazon princess, but Archon knights from Logos would not be rescuing an Amazon. They have the same opinion of females as Amazons have about males. Perhaps you should scout around his location, in case I was distracted here." The bat squeaked again.

Once it had flown out of detection range, Alvaric turned to the two knights that he had slain in the previous version of history. "Fortunately for you, bodies that disappear in the swamp are perfectly normal. So I can pretend I killed you. But since you are likely to have some silly idea about rescuing your companions if I just let you go, I am going to make sure we have enough of a head start that you won't catch up in time."

He cast a spell and caused two shadowthorn bushes to grow around the two knights. Then he carefully hung a vial of shadowthorn antidote around their necks.
"Don't use it until after you are out, or you may end up needing more than you have. It will tend to put you to sleep, giving the bush more time to poison you again and start digesting you. But my drug should wear off before you are in danger from the bush. Unless you get stupid and eat the fruit. So just force your way out when you can, then find a safe camp site and take the antidote. If your friends are lucky they may re-join you. But originally all of you died, so I can't guarantee anything here."

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/7647/3knightseu7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

After binding the other three he carried them to the Temple. Anoquil had already arrived, and taken full credit for the capture of the Amazon princess. She was waiting, bound, on the floor in front of her mother's cell as Malkoth taunted them both. Alvaric slipped a copy of the key to the cell into the pocket of the Commander of the knights as he knelt to Malkoth and presented his captives. Malkoth smiled at him."I see you bring me three strong Archon knights, fresh from their holy vows. Place the Commander in the cell with the Amazon queen. He can watch as the blood of his men is mixed with that of the Princess. Unless her majesty cares to submit?" He gave an evil laugh.

As Alvaric bowed and escorted the Commander to the cell, Malkoth issued another command."Give him the antidote to the transport drug. I want him aware!" Anoquil smirked. "While you're at it, have him show you what to do with a woman! You had that princess to yourself for a whole night and never touched her!"

Alvaric gave the antidote to the Commander and shoved him into the cell. Thankfully he had practiced enough with the locks on those cells that he could open it as quickly with a lockpick as with a key. But he did put on a production of re-locking the cell door and making sure it was securely fastened. He wanted everyone to believe it was the princess who opened it, not a mistake on his part. He fervently hoped the Commander was clever enough to use the key without attracting attention to the fact that he had one.

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/7826/commanderbr6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Things are about to get interesting. Originally the queen surrendered as her daughter was placed on the altar between the two knights. Anoquil is supposed to be keeping them there, but she wasn't drugged heavily enough. Even less so, now that she was fed afterwards. Then the queen was brought out and sacrificed as soon as Malkoth got the seal and the princess escaped in the confusion. The knights were all sacrificed the next day while Anoquil failed to re-capture the princess. And Anoquil was sacrificed two days after that when I was sent to bring him in to replace the princess.

The two knights and the princess were dragged to the altar. As Malkoth laid the last knight on the altar and raised his blade, the Amazon queen started to sob. Malkoth turned toward her cell. "Did you have something you wished to say, your majesty?"

"Yes. The Amazons surrender. You have our allegience. Without me or my daughter my people will be without our magics. It would be better to serve you than to become chattel to the likes of those knights in Logos or to have my entire race die on your altar."

The Commander turned to her. "If you women would mind your place and let your men be men instead of children on a leash you would not be in this predicament."

She glared at him. "I suppose you got captured deliberately, did you?"

Malkoth roared. "Enough! Your majesty, if you truly surrender, you will give me the Amazon Seal of Power. Now. Or watch your daughter die."

"Don't do it" the Commander hissed. "You can't trust him as far as that fairy can throw a mountain."

The queen gave him a bleak look. "I have to. A slim hope is better than none. If I don't do it, he will kill her and continue these sacrifices until I am the last one. If I surrender, the Amazons who respect the seal of power and serve him will survive."

Meanwhile "That fairy" was idly wondering how long it was going to take before that idiotic knight checked his pockets. Maybe he should find a way to leave a set of lockpicks for the princess to use?

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1286/surrendertz7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The queen passed the Seal of Power through the bars of the cell. Malkoth laughed. "You have saved your people. You and your daughter will die together now, and these knights will die tomorrow."

Just then the princess rolled off the altar.

Anoquil was too distracted by the drama in the cells to notice. Alvaric quickly turned her invisible and whispered "The idiot in there with your mother has a key." Using telekinesis, he opened the door to the temple, shouted "The Princess is free! She just ran out the door!" and flew out "after her." Anoquil quickly followed, but Malkoth stopped them. "We have had a minor change of plans." Pointing to Alvaric. "You will assist as the knights you brought are sacrificed." Pointing to Anoquil, he added "You captured the princess once, you will do it again. They die tomorrow. Or you do."

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/3787/escapedwu9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Alvaric decided it might be too obvious if he pointed in a random direction and said that he had seen her go that way. He just bowed. "Yes, my Master. I am honored to obey." Anoquil, looking as pale as a dark elf could get, also bowed. "It is my pleasure to serve you, my Master. Although perhaps this fairy could be spared to assist? It might be educational for him to see my technique. And, after all, no fairy has ever been permitted to assist in a sacrifice. He has not been properly trained and indoctrinated yet. You do have other dark elves guarding the captives, and they have already been trained to assist in a sacrifice."

Malkoth nodded. "That is true. But I wish him to remain here anyway. He has earned the right to assist in a sacrifice, as he was more alert to do your job than you yourself were. You have failed me. You have until tomorrow morning to redeem yourself."

As they re-entered the temple, Alvaric was pleased to note that the cell with the Commander and the queen was empty. He quickly called attention to a bat that was flying in to bring a report. Three galleys had encountered and sunk an elven war fleet, taking heavy casualties. The fleet commander was requesting permission to put in for repairs. No-one but Alvaric seemed to notice a suspicious shadow moving through the door.

She actually rescued the knights as well as her mother! That must gall them a bit... But if she could get elves and humans to work together, maybe she can get her mother and the knights of Logos to work together as well.

As soon as the bat finished relaying the report, Alvaric knelt. "My Master, it would seem that the rest of the captives were released while we were distracted. I take responsibility, and request that I, too, be allowed to redeem myself by re-capturing my prisoners."

Malkoth shook his head. "No. I shall send another to recover them. I have a different task for you. It has become apparent that it was you, rather than Anoquil, who captured the princess. He shall have until dawn to re-capture her. But if... No, when he fails, it shall be your task to bring him to me in her place and assist in sacrificing him. You, who once were a child of air and lightning, shall be my DeathShadow."

Alvaric bowed. The penalty for arguing any further was obvious.

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/8509/deathshadowwr0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Oh well. I can't save everybody! And I don't like Anoquil much anyway. He keeps calling me "butterfly". "It shall be my pleasure, my Master" For now anyway... six out of seven who lived when they would have died isn't bad!

When he returned to the present he half hoped that he would not have been forced into exile, and thus would be returning to the world of his birth. But no, he was still in the same world he left. And according to the paper Malkoth was still here. There were rumors of people vanishing near the old cemetery, and jokes being made about people who were swearing they had seen vampires. But somehow his personal history had changed a bit. The Amazon Princess was dropping by to deliver a bouquet of roses!

He approached her. " I have a very weird question."

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/10/flowersdj8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

She laughed "You usually do. What is it this time? And if it has anything to do with horses or fruit trees, I'm not interested!"

"Pretend I just got amnesia. What happened after you got away from Malkoth?"

She gave him a puzzled look. "A girl rescuing the youngest son of the king of Logos and his knights from Malkoth was news-worthy enough to get attention even from the elves. It was the beginning of talks that finally led to an alliance after a couple of years. When you kidnapped the king of Logos, you left a trail that led three armies right to Malkoth. There were far too many casualties, but he was finally defeated. I insisted that you had to have left that trail deliberately, but you had been too good at what you do. No-one trusted you. So when you went into exile, I followed you. Do I want to know why you are asking that?"

"No, probably not." He took the roses and glanced at the card. Good. She had signed it. At least he didn't need to ask her name.

Bonus:

Later that afternoon Alvaric invited Marianna on a date to the royal garden maze. They spent the rest of the afternoon wandering between the hedges and listening to the music that was being played on the platform above them. As the sun set Alvaric gently turned to kiss her. Suddenly he froze. Malkoth and a pair of what were probably vampires were heading toward the castle.

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/6418/flyvg0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

He turned to Marianna. "We have to fly. NOW!"
She was startled. "Why? What's wrong?"
"If he senses you here he will expect me to bring you to him. You are one of the people I want to protect from all this. We have to FLY!"
She studied his face. "This is part of what you said I didn't want to know about, isn't it?"
He grabbed her by the arm. "This is not a good place for this conversation." As he tried to fly away with her she slid out of his grasp.
"I am not leaving with you until you tell me what is going on!"

"IAccidentallyBroughtMalkothHereHeThinksIServeHim AndNowHe'sInvadingTheCastle." He tried to fly away with her again.

"Whoa! Slow down and say that again."

He glared at her. "I accidentally brought Malkoth here. He thinks I serve him, and now he's invading the castle."

Meanwhile lights in the castle windows were being extinguished one by one.

"We have to help defend the royal family!" Marianna started to run toward the castle. He grabbed her again.

"They have guards. Prince Aurelius just left for college, so he isn't even there right now. What we need to do is to get you to safety!"

She turned to him. " Are you really that cold-hearted?"

He shrugged. "If I were a nice guy, I would be dead by now. Malkoth kills nice guys after he gets tired of tormenting them. So I never learned how to be nice. My idea of being polite is to leave my victims with a bottle of antidote for the poison I gave them."

She sighed. "Run away if you must, but they don't know how to fight an active vampire. I can kill the vampires for them at least!" She began to sneak toward the castle.

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3266/savingherxf1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

He suppressed a snarl of anger. Idiot! Doesn't she realize I'm trying to keep her alive?! She may hate me for this, but at least she will live long enough to get over it." He sneaked up behind her and kicked her in the head, knocking her out. Then he lifted her unconsious form and began to fly away.

Suddenly he heard a familiar voice behind him. "My marvelous DeathShadow! Is that truly the Amazon princess that earned you a name? I see you are once again bringing her to me." Malkoth produced his scythe. "You did intend to offer her to me, did you not?"

Alvaric forced a smile.
"Yes, Master. That had been my intention."

Malkoth nodded to him. "Excellent! Bind her securely, so that she will not escape while you are otherwise occupied. Then you may assist my vampires in cleansing this place of all who refuse to serve me. Any with an aura that is strong enough should be saved for sacrifice, but the rest are free to be slain unless one of the vampires wants them. And you should most certainly capture the royal family. They will want to watch as their people die. It will amuse me."

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/166/oopsbd6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

He didn't even risk whispering an apology to her as he obeyed, and fervently hoped that Malkoth didn't notice the tear that fell from his eye.

I know this is technically a double post, and I'm sorry. It doesn't really belong with my entry, though.

You said 5 days ago that the contest is ending in 6 days. Are we going to see scores and comments from Round 1 before then?

I also hope I would be able to edit my entry in light of Round 1 comments of the judges, but I'm not going to have more time with my game until next Wednesday which is why I went ahead and posted it now.

ETA:

Maybe we should take up a collection to help keep Game Shark's Internet up? I was checking his profile and he's been gone since the 19th. I hope everything is ok with him. I've been enjoying this contest.

Shoot. Round 2 ends today, right? And only Ghost has submitted an entry...er...I will have mine up in a while. ...I have no excuse besides laziness; my apologies. But I WILL have it up by the deadline (if I have the deadline right xD) if it's the last thing I do! *sigh* That really would be a sad death though...died while playing The Sims 2...eh, I'll risk it. xP

I...reeeeeeeeeeeeeally hope I got the deadline right. T_T

EDIT

Oh, right. 18+6=24 xD

This is why I had to repeat the first grade. Hehe. Not really tho...probly shoulda been held back, actually, now that I think about it. xD

I guess this means I'm not winning round 2 by default.:)

Now if only the contest host makes it back to tell us how we did with Round 1.... I don't have any fingernails left.

I'll be getting my round two in even if it takes me all day tomorrow (computer troubles, it dies every half hour) to get pictures.

Ghost, in case of the host not putting up scres you can PM the judges that said they sent them, normally they give them pretty cheerfully.

My browser crashed while I was sending PMs, so I don't know if they went through or not.

I noticed that there still isn't a banner. I had an idea for one if you would like it.

I don't think I'll be able to get my entry in by midnight... itll be in well before 8 on Sundy though. I'm going to act under the assumption that thats acceptable... I finally figured out what was wrong with my game, and I was doing that instead of slogging through the interminable crash every half hour.

I know I'm posting this an half and hour past the deadline for entries in the second round, but I've been trying to finish my entry and I am literally incapable of finishing it tonight. I'll have it in tomorrow, most definitely, but I've been going through quite a few rough patches over the past couple of days and have not gotten much sleep, and I'm just about ready to fall over right now, >.<.

Sorry I couldn't make the deadline, and if I get kicked from the contest, good luck to those who are still in it! :]

I tried to make my entry, but some download (no clue what the problem download is)
And the only way to get my game started up is by trowing my entire download folder away!! And I refuge that

So I have to drop out, I'm sorry

I'm hoping game Shark will give a bit of an extension since the forums were down for a few hours yesterday.

(Ok, yes, I was checking in several times to try to see if Round 1 scores were up yet...)

I made this if you want to use it for the banner. And if not, I had fun making it.

Can't you just remove everything you downloaded within the past week or so?

Ouch!

Good luck getting it sorted out. I'm working on tracking down a corrupted package that is making some of my CC suddenly vanish during play.

(Very annoying when the invisible magisplay trays and the One More Slot stuff suddenly go away or lose the invisible recolors.)

Nice contest. Hey, you should put your contest in ,,In progress'' status ;)

Game Shark... Please check in with your contest asap. Being absent from the forum for 6 days is too long, and you need to continue the contest, ask someone to take over or close your contest. If you have extenuating circumstances, that's fine. Just keep us up-to-date or your contest will be closed. Thanks!

Please give him a couple more days! This is Memorial Day, so he is possibly going to be away from the computer. And this is a fun contest.

(If it does get closed, is anybody interested in having me continue Alvaric's story over in the story section?)

Well if gameshark can not continue, I will be glad to take his place. And if it does get closed, I would love to continue to read about him!

Since this contest barely got past the application round and there is only a few days left until the contest expires, I am going to lock this thread. I apologize to the contestants for being left high-and-dry, but I wish you the best in future contests.
