I installed The Sims 2 a while ago on my other hard drive which is running vista. I since bought a new HD and put windows 7 on it and am trying to play it without reinstalling everything. I thought if i simply browsed to the directory and launched the launcher everything would work, but thats not the case. All of the expansions are grayed out and nothing happens when I click on launch. Im hoping I don't have to reinstall or even worse try to fiddle with the registry settings. I'd hate to have to boot into my other HD just to play it, as my discs are scattered all around my basement somewhere and itll take a long time installing all 17 packs.

Yes, you have to either reinstall or fiddle with the registry. I recommend the former, as the latter is very difficult to get right, especially since your install directory's path has changed relative to the OS drive.
