Hey everyone
I decided to put a sim on the architectural design career yesterday. It was funny and a little difficult to understando... The sim was, as always, happily painting and researching architectural design... It was a weekend in the game, so she couldn't even really go to work or anything... Anyway, she kept being promoted randomly! I looked at the job tab, and it says Painting, Remodeling, Reviews... Or something like that... Anyway, I didn't catch her job performance bar moving up... I think she got to level 4 before she could even do anything...
So, what do you think? ;-)

What is your question?

Probably, 'Is this normal, or a glitch - has anyone else experienced this?'. :)

Nah, I'm just sharing... But I'd like to know if anyone knows what exactly will make the job performance go up. The sim is getting promoted in the middle of the day while painting or researching architectural design. The promotions are not even synchronized with the moment the painting skill goes up or with the moment the sketch or the painting is finished.

Skill-based performance increase doesn't only increase when a level is gained. Sub-level skill increases also push it up. And any activity under "job responsibilities" increases performance. So yeah, it's your painting that's doing it :)

It's a little funny though, don't you think? Anyway, it's very interesting that they have this career now where the player must have some ability with building in the game... I didn't try the investigator career yet, but I heard it doesn't demand anything... I read somewhere that you can complete assignments just buy clicking on "Interview this sim" "Turn in" and so on

I thought it was pretty self-explanatory that the painting was the cause...

I've been playing the investigator. It's pretty undemanding compared to other professions.
You pick up an investigator case one of three ways.
1. Get it at the Police station
2. Get it through your computer
3. Someone calls you with a case.
You pretty much go interview the person who needs your help, they tell you what happened, then you go search for clues/talk to sims/snoop around. It gets pretty tedious when you need to convince a sim of something. but if you have enough simoleans (you normally do) you can bribe them.
You can also do stakeouts to improve job performance.
I think the investigator ltw is pretty obtainable vs. the unobtainable architect ltw. 30 cases solved I think. Easy peasy.
