View Full Version : The maids are frustrating to no end...

Okay well, since I got LN, whenever I hire a maid they just come in and make food for themselves and actually leave MORE of a mess. And now that my sims a 4-star celebrity all they do is do the starstruck thought bubble and stalk her around. I've kept firing maids and nothings fixing it, also, their texts are weird. The maid will say "I should be leaving now" as if theyre visiting and then at another time "Thats it for today, thatll be 125". What the heck :(

So, I'm basically paying the maids to make more of a mess. Anyone else have this problem or other ones with maids?

Yeah, they give you a lot of grey hairs. :) Anyway, I just made my sim turn every tub, shower, sink and toilet into self cleaning ones. After that I really didn't need a maid anymore.

My maids leave with half the work left for my sims to do! Then they have the nerve to ask for an autograph.
My mom always said "What have you done to deserve it?"

Haha ikr! All they want is autographs and money :/.
Well, i got a butler instead. And hes doing a much better job, so I guess I solved my little problem. But jeez, I never had this problem with them before. Maybe LN doesn't like me P:

the maids suck in this game. they hardly do any work and then take your simoleons!

It's also funny that if you choose to fire your maid, another one comes the next day, unlike in Sims 2. Now you also have to cancel the whole maid service with your cell phone. Before I realized this, I kept firing maids one after another and wondered where the %&¤# are they coming from? Boy, did I feel stupid later on. :)

Haha I might try that next time. I'm pretty tired of my sims getting insulted from the maid after firing them. -___-

I never thought to kill useless NPCs. Sounds fun.

In my current game I have actually a quite different maid problem: Apart from the fact that she only cleans half of what is there to clean unless I focus the camera on her continuously, she won't return the next day and I'll have to call her services every morning again.

Have you tried to fire her? The agency will send someone else the next day to replace her. :)

I thought it might have to do with my celebrity sim. It seems to work elsewhere. I hired a Butler instead, worked like a charm. Perhaps more suitable to for a celebrity.

I hate the maid service. I do not understand why they think it was a good idea to make it the way it is now.

When my maid shows up, she said "Gotta go now bye!" and then comes inside. Then she stands in the same spot for a few minutes and makes the bed. If I have cooked something like KeyLime Pie for example, she will cut in front of my sim grab the plate and put it in the fridge. She never cleans the toliet until it is just left that way for several visits.

So I fired her and the dude started coming. He would eat food and leave it on the table and was actually worse then her. I am not back to her because at least she cleans the fish tank almost every visit. So I guess she is worth something. LOL!

I had maid that wouldn't leave..tried so many things. She even got nasty and was crying all over the place. Anyway. I used the the moveObjects on cheat, removed her car and never saw her again until she was hobnobbing with Don Lothario.

Yesterday I fired the old maid (she finally stayed long enough for me to make my way over to her) and hired a new one. But it's the same, the new one will not return the next day, and I will have to call her again. In addition the new one has the nerve to pick up the trash, drop it on the floor, say "I'm done here" and leave 125§ the richer. And it's the only thing she does.
I don't know whether this is specific to that lot or whether it's because it's the only save with a maid which I started after LN, because in my older saves the maid returns just fine.
Oh, how I wish that at least the former function could be readded that ensured that dirty dishes and old newspapers disppeared and plumbing appliances were cleaned automagically as soon as she leaves, even if she didn't touch them. At least it was like that in my game up until LN.

I think maids in Sims 3 won't completely leave you alone if you simply fire them. You have to cancel the maid services via phone.

I am having a different maid problem. When I call for service 3 maids show up, I don't even have a mansion, it's only a two-story 4 bedroom home. I fired one thinking maybe the game just got confused, but the next day 3 maids showed up. Then I have to pay each one $125 what a load of poo. I tried the whole butler thing, but he just ended up going invisible and I couldn't ResetSim, he just wouldn't reset. I tried inviting him over and firing him, killing him off or something that could get rid of him, but he just despawned when I tried trapping him in a wall, and firing him wasn't a social option. I ended up just saving the family to the bin and moving them to a new town, only to have the 3 maids show up again once I called for the service. Anyone know of something I can do to fix them? Maybe I should just make a servo and have him do the job...

I think this post almost belongs in "Glitches that make you go wait...what!" Hope someone can help you with this soon. It sounds very frustrating.

Could you perhaps send one over to my household, because their maid still doesn't show up regularly?

I really wonder why you guys have such problems with maids. I seem to have no problem, at all. Well, recently on 1 of the lot, maids (and serviceman) came in and immediately said "I must be going, I charge $$$ for today's service". However, they would still stay and perform their duty before they leave, so it is like a premature goodbye in turn for a greeting.

Cooking for themselves and leave more mess? It may have to do with those sims think they are in their hang out place. All I can say is I am so glad I don't have to deal with this. But to contribute to the thread, I would say I have never attempt to befriend with the maids, only talk to them briefly once in a while. However, 1 year back one of my sim did go through this "French maid fantasy" and wanted to hit on her. If my memory serves, after she is finished with her daily routine, she would stay and hang out with her "friend", which is this household.

By any chance you have developed a relationship with your maid?

Oh and, would resetsim command help if the maid wouldn't leave and "cry all over the place". Maybe her hunger/energy/bladder moods are very low and something within the programming keeps her there.

I really dont understand why these sims wont do their sim jobs! I do not work my sim half to death just to pay a lazy maid $250 to do nothing,

You and I must be the lucky ones. I only have two households with maids and they seem to be quite proficient and thorough

I have several houses with maids/housekeepers. If your sim is a celebrity, the housekeeper usually stands around and freaks out if the celebrity sim is in residence. If they aren't, the housekeeper just seems to stand there and contemplate being in a celebrity's home. I frequently have to fire several housekeepers before I find one that will actually clean the toilets and make the bed.

My maid decides to come to my house whenever she feels like it, and she decides if she wants to clean or not!
It's not as if I'm paying her.... /sarcasm

And she looks like a slut with all that make-up.

If you have a maid that's hanging around and not doing much of anything. At least, not what you're paying them to do. . . use ResetSim Anne T. Septik (insert actual maid name) and they'll disappear and not charge for services not rendered. Then the next time your sim is at home, wait for the offending maid to arrive and fire them. The service will send a new one the next day. This is what happens in my game. It has no mods, so hopefully it's not a glitch.
