Fishing with other Sims

Is it just me, or can you not actually fish with other Sims? I recall in Sims 2 Bon Voyage, you could fish with other Sims. Like "Fish with..." or "Join Fishing..." and the Sims would talk while they fish. Little +friendship signs would come up over their heads.

Now Sims can't seem to fish together?! They can be at the same pond but they don't seem to interact. Or is it just my game?

No, that's the way it is. It sucks, I used to love having family fishing outings in Sims 2. Most of the time it was more about gaining social than catching fishes for me. Now it's just about fishes.

They will talk with each other while fishing but they will need to be quite close to each other and of course you will have to direct them sparately to the same spot. It requires quite a bit of navigating around but it is doable.

If I put a small pond on my lot - I actually have a problem getting people to STOP fishing together. It's like the super-autonomous attractor of doom or something. Anyone invited onto the lot just stands there fishing and chatting late late into the night, until their motives drop into the danger zone. Bleh.
