Photography problems/questions

I've never really tried to complete the photo collections because some of the subjects I've tried to photograph seem un-get-able. Sometimes random subjects (usually from the Sims in motion collection) get mislabeled as "Sim running." Sometimes no label comes up at all, no matter where I focus on something. Is this a known bug? Have people completed all the photo collections? Is there something else I should be doing? (I usually pause to take a picture so I don't have to worry about the subject leaving or stopping the action.)

For the photo of a photographer, does it not count if someone's photographing me? Do I need to get them photographing a third Sim? Or do paparazzi not count? My photographer's a celebrity and has tried this many times with no success.

Is "Oh, No! Snake!" the snake from the snake charmer's basket? Like, you have to wait until the snake gets charmed out? I got this one through a wall (yet another bug: sometimes the subject doesn't show up in the actual picture because it's on the other side of a wall.)

How do you plead to the sphinx? Is this the big sphinx in Egypt that you can go inside?

1> Some pictures are glitched. There was some difficulty with getting all the "hometown" buildings in Riverview, for example. (Solved by editing the town and adding Sunset Valley versions.) And not all scenes are able to trigger a caption.

2.> It would not be surprising if paparazzi don't count as photographers. If you have a second sim in the family, have that sim take a picture (of anything, or even nothing), then immediately switch to your sim and take a picture of the other sim. This takes split-second timing, and is likely to waste several shots.

3> That was my theory, as well. (Don't you love these X-ray cameras? I have a lot of pictures of houses, scenery, etc. labelled "a sim in the area" when the sim was too close or had just gone inside. )

I have no idea how to plead to the Sphinx, but I assume it probably is the big one in Egypt.

I found the answer to my Sphinx question, I think. You have to be cursed by a mummy to do it. Which reminds me, why are all the photos 1 difficulty, except one (ghost mummy)? I find that so unhelpful.

Well just wait for the moment when you're hit by that bug that removes your collection statistics as soon as you travel again. I had one photographer Sim and in order to complete that challenge where you had to complete 5 collections in order to make photos for free afterwards he had to travel to Egypt to get that one last picture he needed. He arrived and his skill journal said "0 collections completed".
Since then I have only used that camera in order to make photos for decorating my Sims' homes.

Wow. I guess I won't try too hard for those collections. Your photographs were still there, right? Did they count as whatever they were pictures of, like for the Board of Tourism and Falafels or for the LTW about having destination photos?

I don't suppose there's a cheat to mark a picture as taken? EA must have quit before they finished testing this feature. ::grumble::

It's just the counter for the challenge that was reset to 0. And redoing a collection did not help.

The only other useful thing about photography is that challenge where you have to take pictures of 50 unique Sims. As soon as you've finished that every photo you make of a Sim you know will give you a massive relationship boost. In combination with high Charisma this might give you an instant friend just by taking a photo of them.

im new to this sims 3 thing and i love photography, but thing is im having this kind of bug. iono whats the problem.

after i took some shots the "camera" logo is stuck at the upper left of my screen. even if i cancelled it. nothing happens. >.<

It's a bug known by the players, EA doesn't seem to accept it as a bug because all they've told people putting in bug reports is to use the "resetsim" cheat. Best I can find, there's no workaround until it gets patched.
