View Full Version : Damn Fleas!

This has annoyed me to no abound. I love the new Pets EP, but god DAMN do I hate fleas. Got a family of two (BF/GF) with a pet GShep, and no matter what I do, every time the dog goes outside, for even a second to PEE, the thing gets fleas. And no, he doesn't interact with other dogs... or at least hasn't yet. As an owner of three dogs myself, I know fleas do not get contracted that easily.

If I knew anything about modding, I'd have probably created one to be rid or at least lessen the frequency of fleas. Anyone else find fleas too be way too annoying or frequent? It's the only gripe I possibly have with this game now. At least I'm not having the issue some are having of not being able to actually give their pets flea baths though... except for that damn cat, but after that I said screw it to cats for Sims 3 until Fleas are no more.

Mine's only gotten fleas once, and that was after he spent all day running around digging things up off the lot.

Is he 'piggy'? I think they are more prone to get fleas.

I would like to be able to give my pet a flea bath with a lower relationship score. But yeah, that is probably tunable.

I admit that at least for cats, the relationship requirement may be realistic... I wound up the the ER the last time I tried to give my cat a flea bath, and she actually liked me quite a lot ;) But she slashed open one of my fingers with a claw ><

Now we just use the drops on the back of the neck stuff... which I think is what EVERYBODY uses these days... modding THAT in would be an upgrade ;)

I think there's a flea-free perk majigger you can get. I guess in sim-world, Advantage/Frontline is REALLY expensive. :P

Program is the best. My cat is evil right to the core and will not let me even put those drops on her without a fight that results in missing flesh. Program is a pill or a liquid that you put into their food once a month and no more fleas.

But onto SIMS :) I've only had the fleas once in game and that was with a cat that had been outdoors rolling in hay for hours but since then, she still spends a lot of time outdoors and still rolls around in the hay for hours at a time but she hasn't gotten any fleas.

One of the pets lifetime rewards is a bath that they can use without sim help.

Yes, the pet grooming machine does wonders! My sim's cat got infested with the fleas and when my sim tried to wash it she got the fleas as well and they kind of kept passing the fleas one to another. :faceslap: I love that the cat uses it autonomously.

Nope. Loyal, Friendly, and Playful. So far has been trained to be Non-destructive as well.

I wish I could bathe the neighborhood animals. (Or maybe I can, but just have to work on the relationship?)

One of my pet-free Sims got fleas from walking thru the dog park. LOL

My cats have gotten fleas two ways: just walking onto the cat jungle lot and then again when they nuzzled one of the crazy cat lady's cats.

Those damn Lionheart cats are a flea haven. There's so many of them if you get rid of the fleas on most of them but not all, almost immediately the last one's "reinfected" all the clean ones again. You literally have to clean all of them within seconds of each other. I pretty much just let them run wild and to hell with fleas. Suits the character more, anyway.

This mod http://gnautylilgnomes.com/forum/index.php?topic=5984.0 prevents the catching of fleas while outside and the spread of fleas between pets/sims.

I only had an experience where my homeless Sim and his dog both got fleas. It seemed appropriate, and I loved seeing the fleas bounce off their bodies, accompanied with a nice cloud of green stench steam. Sim kept getting the "want" to have flea treatment. The best I could do for him was let him wait it out. They were gone before I even realised it.

If the Sims weren't homeless, though, I could see why contracting fleas would be irritating. I mean, my cats get fleas sometimes during flea season. I've had flea BITES before. But it's pretty rare for fleas to live on your body just because they live on your pet's body.

you can, and it does require work on the relationship for cats and dogs. ive been able to brush neighbor horses pretty easily, though. (trouble with bathing neighbor animals is you need a bathtub outside... so unless a community lot has a bathtub on it, you cant really bathe them anywhere other than their home or your home.)

To get rid of the darn fleas we just have to bathe the pet or what?

You could try the Moodlet Manager.
Or just enter testingcheatsenabled true and ctrl click the 'Fleas' moodlet, it's quicker that way. ;)
