View Full Version : Probably stupid question: horse ball?

Erm, yeah. I never got this thing to work in my game. My horses always get a "can't go there!" routing blocked icon when they want to use the ball. Does this thing even work or am I being too stupid again? I tried placing it on a flat, empty area but I've yet have to see a horse using the ball. :/

this happens now and then in my game too. usually its because the horse drives the ball in a straight line (though after turning around to kick it the other way, may end up kicking it at an angle), and if theres stuff in the way, the horse wont be able to use it. make sure the area around the ball is clear, and you may have to reposition it a few times. it counts other sims as objects in the path, as well.
._.
(its like how horses also wont use "gallop around" unless the immediate area around them is spacious enough. frustrating.)

I see. Yeah, pathfinding is seriously borked with Pets. I usually have to manually navigate my horses from a lot etc until they can gallop around or ride out. There's also the annoying issue with Sims dismounting to throw a low motive tantrum at you. Oh well. Thanks, I'm gonna give this horse ball another try! ;-)

This happens to me too, the ball worked at first but after a while it stopped working, no matter where I move it, even if it's in a huge empty space... I even tried selling that ball and getting another one, still didn't work

Why not make your own ranch lot next door that's just an empty field, and use the ball there?

Interesting: your horses wanted to kick the ball?!
Mine does this all the time:

That is not appropriate for a T-rated game, Mr. Horsie! D:

My horses can play just fine with the ball autonomously, but if I direct them to play they get the routefail. Anyone else seeing this?

The autonomous play is probably better at finding someplace to do it. Maybe directing them to play tries to play at their current location.

All of my horses could play with the ball just fine - and then suddenly, they couldn't anymore. Route fail. I bought several different balls - no dice.
I've got a 60x60 lot with most of the space dedicated to a riding ring and pasture...so there's nothing in the way... the balls are where they put them when they were able to play with them and I put some new ones in wide open spaces - they still can't use them.
I also tried putting the ball in the courtyard stable I made for wild horses (they dont go near it, of course) and there are no interactions avaliable when I go to that lot with the ball. It's like it just broke and I've no idea what happened.
(MY horse that is obsessed with the ball is also a ball humper, that's what he does with it, and now that he can't get to it he's seriously frustrated and constantly upset showing a routing fail to the ball over his head.)
