hello,
I am not sure if this is the right place to put this question but here goes
Can you place a stencil on clothing that didn't originally have a stencil ?

Yup. In CTU, go to the Stencil Pool tab, click the Texture line for Stencil 1, then click Replace (bottom left) and find your texture image (DDS with a transparent background); click Commit.
Then go to the Designs tab, pick a design, go to the Stencils sub-tab, and change the first drop-down to Stencil 1. Commit again to see your stencil on the preview.
You can also do this in TSRW, but I don't know exactly how since I don't use TSRW for CAS stuff. For objects I think Stencils are at the very bottom of the Texture tab - it's probably the same for CAS stuff.

silly question, couldnt get it to work so must of done something wrong or forgotten to do something. when creating the stencil with the transparent background, does it need an alpha layer before saving? and also when I do a preview in ctu, the stencil is way too big so might give up for now as I need a tutorial for dummies lol. I have tried other tutorials but doesnt work . thanks anyway for your advice and help

Yes, it needs an alpha layer. To get the size right, I suggest you extract the base texture and use that as a guide for the size/position of the stencil. :)

its been a while but how do I create an alpha channel for my stencil? trying to use the unisex childs shorts with pockets so I can stencil the pockets but the stencil always ends up all over the shorts and legs. I shrink the picture but it still is too big. I am using CTU and photoshop
