View Full Version : Making recolors of an item in different packages show up in one line?

So I decided the other day to try and make a version of the tumblr site sexy-sweaters (which makes photoshopped pictures of really awesome sweaters) for the sims 3. This would mean making my own sweater mesh and a bunch of recolors, and posting recolors regularly.

Is it possible to have separate files that when added to the game will all show up on the same line, as if they were just designs in one file? I want people to be able to download individual sweaters at any point in time, but not have them take up so much space in their CAS.

If not, I guess I'll just have to release them in recolor packs, but I really would love to find a way to make this work!

There is no term as "recolor" in Sims 3, since almost all items can be recolored using CASt. The only thing I can think of is to make few different texture versions for the same sweater mesh, which could be done by either combining them in to one package with different texture presets, or making new different packages with the same mesh included in all of them. The second option won't show the variations (what you call "recolors") in the same line as the game won't recognize them as the same outfit. As far as my knowledge goes, you can't make what you are asking here, just because of the way how Sims 3 works. If you will try to make the same package duplicated with just different textures, they will conflict with each other as the mes ID will be the same, you will be able to use only one at the time.

Yeah, I grabbed the wrong word when I was writing that, but I assumed everyone would understand I meant texture/design. Of course I understand they're different things, I was just tired.

I guess I'll have to make them in sets of five or ten or *insert number here* with the mesh as to not overload people's games.

Thanks!
