View Full Version : Question about lot sizes

Hello! This is a question that might take a while to answer if you're like me and you haven't gone through the trouble to figure it out before.
I'd like to know how many little squares are in each lot size.
I can't access my Sims 2 game for a while and I'm already salivating over the possibility of making better houses by starting on paper. Knowing how much "square footage" I have to work with would be quite helpful!

1 tile is about 3 feet. I believe the last time this topic was floated it was mentioned that the tiles are in 10's. Meaning a 2x2 is 20 across and 20 down for a total of 400 tiles minus the two tile dead space you cant build on without lot adjuster.
*that doesn't seem right do we multiply or just add to get total?

Yeah, this question was asked in the past. I was going to prepare a visual example for that past thread, but didn't feel like it was necessary after it received so many replies. Now I can post it here, lol!
This is an example of the 6x5 lots:
- Fences can encompass the edges of your lot's gameplay.
- Subtract 1 tile for each of the 3 sides not connecting to the sidewalk for floor tiles.
- Subtract 2 tiles for the 3 sides, ANd subtract 1 floor tile from the sidewalk for walls.
- Pools are included with wall placement limitations.
- The measurement of 60 tiles by 50 tiles is only inclusive of your green space before reaching the sidewalk.
The measurements are in "squared units". There's no real conversion to feet, meters, etc. although you probably knew that, lol.
EDIT 1: I added the other lot sizes. Perhaps there can be a wikipage for this information?

With moveobjects on, the floor placement line should be flush with the fencing line. I always use it, especially in lots that are really too small to accommodate unused grassy areas.

You can also increase the wall and floor placement by one tile using the LotAdjuster.

Actually I haven't ever tried it on a second floor. I'll have to see if it's possible on more than just ground floor.

This all sounds useful. The diagrams especially will help me in creating floor plans! Thank you all, and I'm glad I could give d_dgjdhh an opportunity to post these diagrams. Hopefully they'll benefit other builders as well.
Edit: I've started looking for a list of lot prices as well, but they're as hard to find as the sizes! Does anyone know if there's a list of prices for empty lots somewhere?

Some lots adjusted with LotAdjuster (those in *). No wonder folks are able to make nice starter homes. The game throws in an extra $400 for a 1x1 lot, lol.

I did not yet test the following with lot-adjuster but the in-game cheats allow some thing too
driveway - garage door for a garage without outside driveway is possible but only at the border-line where the fence is (or should go)
with 'moveObjects on' you can build next to the "walkpath tiles" and place floor tiles everywhere even the road can change
but oops don't delete those tiles, you can't re-place those (or you must have that picture tile set custom made)
the only thing that can't be build(as far as my testing it goes) in the tiles next to that path (or above it) is a roof that one needs to stay 1 tile inward (and 2 from the sides)
also you can build an outside area on a higher floor even over the whole of the street (handy for helicopter pads on small lots)
