Merging lots together?

I've seen several custom neighbourhoods with multiple lots right next to each other with no gap at all, how is this possible? I've Googled it to no avail... I just can't get rid of the mandatory gap between lots. Does anyone know how?

They have done this in the EA worlds but I'm not sure it's possible to do this in CAW. Can you provide some links? I'd be interested to know if this is possible, too.

In hindsight the first picture might not be more than one lot, but the second one certainly is.

The first one looks like just one lot; the second I think uses some kind of CC to cover the gaps between the lots. As the thread that comes from was only posted last month, I would recommend to ask the creator how they did it.
