I recently installed showtime (which seems to be everyone's problem at the minute) and was forced to update my patch to 1.33.2.015017 otherwise the launcher would not let me play whatsoever. I didn't have a problem using mods with any other expansion but anything i place into my mods folder (which is just hair, makeup, skintones, sliders. NOT mods which need to be updated with every patch!) after the update i end up with this message..

I've tried various different mods (.package and simpack files) from various sites and no matter what it is, the sims will not launch the game. I've reinstalled my base game and all of my expansions and nothing's changed - the game will allow me to play free of custom content, but not with it. Which, when you've played with mods for your entire simming life, isn't much fun.

I was wondering if i'm the only one? Or if there's a fix for this? Please and thankyou!

So what happens if you hit Continue?

The game plays very, very slowly and my CC doesn't show up.

Do you still get the message if you remove your Documents\ Electronic Arts\ The Sims 3 folder?

No i don't. My screen goes completely black and unresponsive, sends me back to desktop, but if i click back onto the Sims 3 icon - it'll take me to the game without any Error message. How am i meant to use mods without my Sims 3 folder, may i ask?

Well, the fact that you don't get the message when you remove the Sims 3 folder shows that you have something in your Mods folder that is causing that error.

So, you need to replace your old Sims 3 folder and find the problem file(s):

I've emptied my entire mods folder - there's nothing in there. The only time i don't get the error is when i remove my entire sims 3 folder like you suggested. I'm going to reinstall everything and if i can't find a fix i'll have to live without mods :-)

So is the CC you are trying to use just Sims3Packs?

Either way, by removing the Sims 3 folder and having the game regenerate a fresh one, you have proved that something in your old Sims 3 folder was causing the problem.

What I would suggest to do then is to move your Downloads into the newly generated Sims 3 folder to see if that works.
