View Full Version : Incomplete Animation Sequences

Hey Guys,

I'm not too sure what else to call this. In a nutshell, some of my sims are not completing animations. They start an action and then pop up in a random place in the room.

For example, if she starts eating Ambrosia, she will get the moodlet when she's done. But instead of the little flair that happens and her getting out of the chair, when she's done eating she just pops up next to the table.

I have seen other sims pop out of the bed instead of finishing the woo hoo animation.

Last night, I had my sim make a drink to take to the hot tub. She finished it in two sips. Never even came close to completing the action. Got the moodlet, but just stood there.

Weird Man.

I am a Fairweather player. I will go months without playing, get excited when a new EP or SP comes out, and then I get reminded why I stopped playing. I have all the EP's and SP's installed and all the patches. I have some CC.

I would have to check once more to be sure, but I know one of my teen sims in the same house doesn't have these issues. It's not an issue I'm overly anxious to fix. If you play this game long enough, you learn to live with these things.

Just curious if anyone else had had the issue or knows a direct fix. Seems sim specific.

Sounds like a mod conflict. Do you have mods in your game? Otherwise, you can try reseting the sim.

I do have awesomemod and NRASS. I didn't figure it be a mod issue because it's not blanket, just some sims. I don't think I have any other gameplay mods installed, but I'll double check.

How do you recommend resetting the sim?

It actually sounds like your sim is being reset, suddenly in another location of a room, unrelated to the activity they were involved with. Which NRass mods are you using? If you're using ErrorScript, do you see any script errors being generated?

Also, do you have any custom objects, such as furniture, plumbing objects, etc? They may be out of date due to the Pets patch, which broke most of that stuff. If you have any custom content objects, taken them out of your mods folder and load up the game and see if you get reset issues. Don't save if you want to keep your custom content.

If it's a custom content problem, you can use this to fix the custom content: http://sims3.the-prof.net/forums/index.php?topic=1298.0

or get the TSR Rig Fix program from TSR.

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it...

I am doing some more research...I am for sure that within the household, there is an issue with the sims being reset somehow...I used NRASS to reset my sim...Sent her to the fridge for Ambrosia, she finished the meal, got the moodlet, and then instantly appeared next to the table...I have never seen the reset happen other than when there's animation involved...I had my teen sim in the same house, eat the same ambrosia in the same chair, and as I suspected, there wasn't a problem...

I will try the suggestions here to see if I can get an error message of some kind to show...But for the most part, it just seems limited to a handful of actions...I haven't noticed any problems when performing on stage or dismounting from the horse...I'm going to save the sims individually, create a brand new world and see if that fixes it...

Thanks @nonamena, that little program did find a few things to fix, but not many...I had a glass bistro table that looked funky in game, the issue you pointed out is probably why...Cheers..!

You mention this happening when both an adult and a teen took ambrosia from the fridge and ate it. Do you have a mod that allows for a multiple portion Ambrosia to be prepared? It's usually produced a single dish at a time, for consumption right there by the sim. Just a thought.

@Ayhja, if you'Ve installed custom content through the launcher, you can run those .dbc files through the rigfix program also, to find any other cc that might be broken.

Also, like eskie says, check your mods. If there's any XML mod that you're not sure about being up to date for the 1.3x patches, remove those. The patches tend to add a new recipe sometimes, or a new fish/book, so any mods that affect those types of things usually need to be updated for major patches.

I ran the 'fixall' command in awesomemod and it said my sim had a 'bad descripter' or something like that. After that, I ran it again. My sim just sat down and had Ambrosia without issue, and then took a drink to the hot tub. Not sure what caused my issue, but all seems well at this point. Man, I don't know how people play without mods!

Thanks for the help guys.
