Today I was playing in my self-sustaining hood and this family of authors decided to run their own little bookshop.
The shop is a family business and the tasks are divided in the following way: Daddy Alexander is restocking, Mommy Britta is cashiering (both elders) and son Bob is responsible for the sales (adult).
The bookshop started from a 1x1 lot and has expanded from a bazaar to a little, two story shop.
Whenever Sims want to buy something the cashier just stands there and stares dumbfounded at the customers as if she's waiting for something. Of course with a long queue the customers get frustrated and throw their bags on the floor. I don't want this.
My question is now: What could cause this behaviour of not cashiering?
I have tried several methods, first I assigned her as a cashier but then nothing would work. Then I was perching over the store like an eagle to see when someone is going to pay, Momma would then be directed to leave her cozy chair that's next to the cash register and "Ring these customers". The second goes fairly well but sometimes it's lagging.
Could it be that this is due to my shop being on two stories? Sometimes the Sims stand on the second story and wait to pay although the cash register is on the first floor because there is more space.
I didn't try another cashier yet because she has a gold badge and normally functions really well :/
On another note: I never knew Sims could buy individual books. I thought I'd be selling bookcases but then the Sims bought books xD
There is an option of restocking the bookshelves, can they ever become empty?
