Hello everyone. This seems like a place that can help me out with my problems.

A few months ago I purchased The Sims 2 from a local store here in Bristol. It installed and played fine, and the language was UK English. I just purchased University online and got the US English version. It installed OK, but now when I load the game my custom neighborhood is screwed up (I haven't used the regular 3 neighborhoods at all, I just made my own). There is a phantom neighborhood that seems to be an old version of my custom neighborhood and if I delete it my neighborhood is also deleted and I have to restore my neighborhood's backup.

I have no hacked objects or anything like that, but I did use the TS2Enhancer trial a bit.

Anyone who can help is greatly thanked.

Did you backup your original neighborhood, and if so, did you put the backup outside your TS2 directory save tree?

Furthermore, when installing a US English expansion pack over the original UK English game, it will install with the US English locale setting and read the US strings, which likely don't match, resulting in your lots having weird names. You will need to regedit your install to switch it back to UK so you can get the game in military time again.

Thank you for your assistance. In order to set my game to UK English, these are the keys I changed in the Registry:

Hive: HKLM\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 University

Key: Locale: en_us to en_uk
Key: Language: English US to English UK

Hive: HKLM\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 University\1.0

Key: Language: 0x00000001 (dec 1) to 0x00000013 (dec 19)
Key: LanguageName: English US to English UKThe lot names are correct now, but unfortunately the duplicate neighborhood is still there; now deleting it and opening the normal neighborhood crashes the game. My backup file of the original neighborhood is an RAR archive on my desktop.

Edit: I should note that the phantom neighborhood has, and has always had, a green grid as its image.

Any further assistance is gratefully appreciated.

Can't really offer any specific help, but I did read somewhere that there is no difference between the two versions. Certainly my UK version is chock-full of US spellings (which drives me absolutely crazy, I really did hope it would be fixed in TS2).
