Deutsch ist gar nicht so schlimm. Ich mag die Sprache. Die ist leichter als die aus der Heimat meiner Familie.
Germans isn't that bad. I like this language. It's easier than the one from the homeland of my family.

Ich bin auch Deutsche und interessiere mich ziemlich für's Sprachen lernen und "interkulturellen Austausch", also dachte ich, ich trete mal der Gruppe bei.
Ich selbst komme aus Berlin (falls mal jemand interessiert ist an diesem Dialekt *hehe*), und wohne derzeit in Hessen. Mein Englisch ist leider nur mäßig gut - obwohl ich so gut wie alles verstehe, bin ich im Schreiben nicht so geübt...

Davon abgesehen helfe ich gerne bei Fragen, was das Lernen der deutschen Sprache betrifft, und freue mich auf unseren Austausch.

I'm German, too, and I'm quite interested in learning languages and "intercultural exchange", so I thought I just join the group.
I'm from Berlin (if someone is interested in this dialect *hehe*) and currently live in Hesse. Unfortunately, my English is just so-so - although I understand practically everything I'm not trained in writing.

Apart from that I gladly assist with questions concerning the learning of the German language and am looking forward to our exchange!

I'm not even going to try to write in German as I am not real fluent in it although I would like to be. I just know a few words here and there. I'm also a lot better at reading it than remembering how to spell or pronounce it.

I'm finding German fairly easy to learn so far (notice how I said so far). Probably because I'm in the "noob" stages. I get really confused on the syntax though which is a major issue if I expect to be able to talk to anyone in it. Also like someone said before I get confusing on die, der etc.

Ehhh, manchmal, lol. Wenn ich weiss, was ich sagen will. Deutsch war nie mein lieblingsfremdsprache, so ich nie studiert hatte, wie ich haben sollte.

Denn meine Grossmutter spricht Deutsch und niemand in meiner(?) Generation hatte es gelernt. Und ich mag es, aber ich liebe Spanisch und ich hab das länger studiert.
Because my grandmother speaks German and no one in my generation had learned it. And I like it, but I love Spanish and I've studied that longer.

(I've NEVER learned subjunctive! My teacher in high school told us that you never use it. I think she's the reason why I didn't find German very interesting.)

Deine Lehrerin hat nicht recht. Es mehrere Konjunktivformen im Deutschen. Irrealis wird im Deutschen oft verwendet. In der Umgangssprache verwendet man das Indikativ anstelle vom Konjunktiv.

Your teacher isn't right. There are several forms of subjunctive in German. Irrealis is often used in German. In colloquial language is the indicative used instead of subjunctive.

Es ist dasselbe als ich. Meine Oma komme aus Deutschland, aber meine Grossvater war ein Soldat. Meine mutter konnte Deutsch verstehen als eine kinder. Ich lernte Deutsch in der Schule fur funf Jahren, aber leider jetzt habe ich viele Deutsch vergessen.

That's the same as me. My grandma comes from Germany, but my Grandfather was a soldier. My mom could understand German as a child. I learnt German in school for five years, but unfortunately now i've forgotten most German.

Leider nicht viel. Die Familie kam aus Baden-Wurtemburg in ~1900. Ich weiss die Stadt nicht. Einer(?) Kusin meines Vaters kennt die Familie, die noch in Deutschland sind, aber ich habe keine Information darüber(?).
Unfortunately not much. The family came from BW in ~1900. I don't know what city/town. One of my dad's cousins knows the family members who are still in Germany, but I don't have any information about that.

Sie kommt von einem kleinen Dorf nahe Munster. Dann verliessen sie und heirateten(?). Ich bin nach Deutschland und Munster viel gewesen obwohl.

Yes, he stayed after Germany was split into four parts for a short time and my grandmother was the only person who could speak a little English with the soldiers. She comes from a small village near Munster. Then they left and married. I've been to Germany and Munster a lot though.

Ein Freund von mir aus Texas sagte mir, dass es drüben immer noch Städte mit vielen Deutschen gibt. Seine Familie stammt auch aus Deutschland.
A friend of mine from Texas told me that there still cities with lots of Germans over there. His family came from Germany too.

Cool kann man genau so auch im Deutschen verwenden. Geil kann man auch verwenden. Das macht nicht wirklich einen Unterschied.

You can use Cool the same way in German. Geil can be used as well. It makes no real difference.

Ich spreche noch etwas Rumänisch und Französisch, aber nicht gut genug, um es wirklich benutzen zu können.
I can speak some Romanian and French too, but not well enough for real use.
