Six Nightlife Images of the Pacific Rim Rainforest, #2

This is the second part of a collection of original photographs of the Pacific Rim temperate rainforest, where I live. These pictures were taken in the Pacific Rim National Park Long Beach Unit and surrounding area. The collection uses the Nightlife "Two Dogs and an Olive" format, which costs §2900, has an Environment value of 10, and covers four tiles in width.

First on the left, the "Kennedy River" in early October is now slow and broad, where the dying leaves in the trees and in the water provide their own poignant harvest festival. With this calm but undeniable dynamic, such a scene blurs the boundaries between water and air, inviting a gentle vertigo that leads to contemplation.

On a smaller scale to the right, this "Life Stream" is echoed in thousands of paths throughout the forest, where the water inspires an outrageous and irresistable green fertility.

And here is the other part of the equation: "Light is Life" and all members of the forest are in a slow but continuous battle amongst themselves, as they strive towards it. Here the humidity is so high that there are no fires to rejuvenate the forest, so storm damage becomes the only natural way that trees or parts of them may fall, opening up the canopy for new generations.

On the right, my walk to work often brings encounters with these "Morning Mysteries" of the primal forest, seducing the mind to ponder the imponderable.

With their fragile transient beauty, the forest fungi are an important part of the universal process of "Regeneration", as mysterious and fleeting - but yet eternal - as the dawning sun of the previous picture. The small scale of this photo can be seen in the pine needle, about a cm long, that lies across one of the caps (this photo was taken with the aid of the Nikon Close-Up 3T and/or 4T Attachment Lenses). The deepest magic of such "magic mushrooms" is not in their eating.

In the final photo of this collection, this slowly evolving "Water Sculpture" has not been surpassed by any art that man has made. Water is the forest's and indeed the Earth's lifeblood, and no matter how much we may try to restrain or abuse it, the cycle cannot be forever denied.

Microsoft Photo Editor, for conversion to Sims 2 format
BaseGameStarter Pro, so handy for speeding up the development process
For the screen captures, some use was made of the ceiling tiles by jgwhiteus and Inge Jones, or one of the several recolours of these
Attribute Change 5.30, which is very useful for adjusting a file's date and timestamp, used to put the recolours together in consecutive order, with the most recent recolour being the one furthest to the left.
